Recently had a EKG (actually two) and it suggested a prior mild heart attack. I am scheduled by my cardiologist for a nuclear stress test. I was questioned about any chest pains and could remember none. However, I do remember that my dentist a number of yrs. ago, injected novocaine and I had a terrible reaction, shakiness , flushed and having a difficult time breathing. The doctor said sometime the injection will go straight into my blood system and cause this .
I went 2 t dentist 2day 2 have a tooth out. It didnt happen. I felt heart in chest, body burning and about 2 throw up. Panic attack. I dont like needles. Im 6 wks and worried about t baby. I could use sum comforting words. Im ok now but it was a really bad panic attack.
In my experience, the anesthetic without epinephrine is shorter acting, but it's been plenty for me for fillings and if it wears off, they can just give you another shot, no problem. I wouldn't worry about that at all.

Actually, she said that your doctor can prescribe tablets to control them if necessary. It is well to terminate and attack quickly, as it can be exhausting although not harmful.

Sounds like hormone shifts causing the mood swings and especially anxiety attacks.
Seems we get adrenaline or epinephrine pushes without a quick nor epinephrine response due to hormone changes. I'm been through it. Doctors were no help at first, then I was medicated with a Beta blocker for an entirely different problem (blood pressure and heart rate issues) and wow.....
The ambulance did not believe it was a heart attack, the emergency room did not believe it was a heart attack so I was not being treated for it as fast as I could have been . In the end the blood work did not lie and my enzymes were 37, I did have a heart attack so please be cautious I have dental work to do and am feeling very anxious but I have to get it done not sure how to proceed. I had a stress test a month and a half ago not after the epi.
I have some serious allergies and often they close my throat. I live 20 minutes from the nearest doctor or hospital. Until recently I always felt safe because I could use an epipen and that would give me time to get help. But now I have been diagnosed with about 8000 PVCs a day, and was told by another sufferer that I shouldn't use an epipen anymore, that it's not a good idea for those with PVCs.
I have Wolff Parkinsons White Syndrome and you need to have your Dr and Cardiologist clear you for the tooth extractions because extractions cause Heart Arrythimias.
I had to wait for my Cardiologist to clear me and send a written information before anywork gets doen on my mouth.
m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this:

So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
I am 43, I have been using Primatene mist for 30 years until taken off the market recently. I now have to get a prescripton inhaler that doesn't work as well. I have been watching shows on tv about drugs, "drugs inc I noticed that they make crystal meth with some of the same contents in Primatene mist, which turns out to be highly addictive.
s correct that local anesthetics contain both lidocaine and adrenalin (epinephrine). They both can have effects on the heart, adrenalin has an obvious effect and lidocaine is actually an antiarrhythmic drug (class 1b sodium blocker) which may have proarrhythmic effects.
The problem is - adrenalin is added to prevent the lidocaine from having systemic effects, the blood vessels are constricted. If you have reactions towards lidocaine, choosing the one without adrenalin would be bad.
It passed of course in a few minutes and when I went in yesterday for a root canal I asked for the anesthetic without epi. The first shot was fine, but the second injection sill caused my heart to pound hard, my chest felt shallow and made me feel a little panicy. It passed and the 3rd injection did the same. The assistant said "we did not give you epi, but that does happen to some people".
