It turns out that portal vein and superior mesenteric vein are thrombosed. They put her on enoxaparin and wanted her to rest for 5 days until the next control. She refused to be put on heparin or warfarin because of her history of gastrointestinal bleeding and recent surgery. We've been told thrombectomy would be extremely risky, given her medical history.
I read somewhere enoxaparin only prevents further occlusion of the vein and does not lyse existing clot.

Cipro (500mg, single dose immediately after the "event") and Zithromax are my first considerations, but I'm having trouble finding "Z" in a single 1g (single dose treatment)... only 500mg

What would NOT be done is to stop anticoagulation altogether.
Yes I'm on the generic enoxaparin. I was on it with my first and forth (all 4 pregnancies were miscarriages). Now I'm on it again since 3 1/2 weeks pregnant.

The chances fo developing brain metastases from an adenocarcinoma would be about 20%. Such rates would seem to make prophylactic brain radiation a worthwhile thing. However, another issue to raise is that having the relapse exclusively in the brain is not common. This means that it is more likely to develop disease outside the brain (such as getting cancer in the opposite lung) and hence providing treatment for the brain may not really change outcomes.

The only family history I have is my dad's sister at age 75, and her daughter (my cousin) at age 51yo.
My question is this - what is the difference between this and regular DCIS and is prophylactic mastectomy a viable option to avoid any further recurrence? I also had another mammogram following my surgery and there are still a section of microcalcifications that the surgeon missed. If I don't opt for PM (that's what my Oncologist recommends) - then I have to go in for another biopsy, and constant screening. I'm only 41 - please give me your thoughts.

I hope his prophylactic dose wasn't the single dose recommended by Wormser. There is no proof whatsoever it is sufficient. ILADS docs say they have patients who had the single dose and still got Lyme.
I saw a picture once of permethrin treated gators. They just slip on over the shoes and pants are are supposedly very effective. Permethrin is better than Deet. It doesn't just repel them, it kills them. Some sporting goods stores carry them.
