Avatar n tn Aldara only made my psoriasis and psa flare up. I guess the next thing is to stop enbrel till my hpv clears up? I am 29, male, non smoker. Enbrel is the only med I take.
Avatar m tn s one of the few powerful anti-psoriasis drugs on the market that is OK for the liver. Psoriasis and PA can flare significantly on treatment so that would not be the time to stop taking Enbrel. That said, Enbrel is an immunosupressive drug so its interaction with inteferon is still unknown and only one older study I'm aware (posted above) that has not been followed through.
Avatar f tn I am suffering from Psoriasis for the last 30 years . What treatment should I take to manage.
1240295 tn?1268201854 Hi, I'm from London UK. I've been using cortisol cream for over 30 years. What else are you supposed to do? I am covered but change in season, stress etc etc bring it on worse and then suddenly it diminishes of it's own accord. I have been advised to go for light treatment, can't, CFS so can't get there regularly. Multiple allergies so scared of tablets. People on here are saying a med beginning with an e, never heard of it, is supposed to be brilliant.
Avatar m tn My dad has been taking Enbrel for several yrs for psoriatic arthritis. I realize this is not the same condition as yours, but it has helped him tremendously!
Avatar f tn I have swelling and edema in right hand fingers and knees, I have some joint pain and some hives at times. No psoriasis on me. I am in my late twenties my doctor wants me to take embrel. I do not have typical back symptoms of this type of arthritis. I need a diagnosis, What could this be? I tend to get stressed and that causessome symptoms to be stronger.
Avatar m tn Hello, Plaque psoriasis is the most common form of psoriasis. There are many treatment options for psoriasis, chief ones being cognitive behavior therapy, creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone, fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues and retinoids and phototherapy and photochemotherapy. Psoriasis that is resistant to topical treatment and phototherapy is treated by medications that are taken internally by pill or injection.

Avatar n tn I have known I have had psoriasis for 12 years. Over the last 4 year the itching as well as the skin breakouts have gotten worse. I have been to see my dermatologist 2 times a week for the last 3 years. I have asked for something to releave the itching and the doctor gives me creams and drugs that make me sleepy and the creams do no releave the itching either.
Avatar m tn I am not familiar with the treatment that has been recommended to you nor the drug Enbrel,.however for the rheumatologist to tell you it may cause relapse ,I would ask him to show you peer -.reviewed data stating that this drug may be causel of HCV in a patient that has been SVR for 3 years before I would put any weight in just his opinion Again.. congrats and good luck with the condition you are fighting presently Will http://www.medscape.
Avatar f tn ve been on Enbrel for about 5 years and it has been an extremely good medication for both the psoriasis and the psoriatic arthritis. My concern is what am I going to do now that my husband is retired and my health insurance won't cover the cost. I live in Canada and the cost of this medication is approximately $22,000.00 a year which my husband's company insurance covered but now that he is retired, it will not cover the cost for my lifetime.
Avatar f tn Hi rocketship, I took mtx orally for many years and switched to injections within the last two years, along with adding Enbrel. You need a good 3 to 6 months to determine if mtx is going to work for you. I would guess that if you've experienced NO improvement at 5 months, it's time to start questioning your rheumatologist about adjusting dosage or changing meds. Placquenil never did anything for me, so maybe ask about dropping that and replacing it with either Humira or Enbrel.
Avatar m tn For the past six years I have been batteling with fungal infections (feet, ears, groin) and just recently I have been diagnosed with an infection on my penis and my hands after having had to take some antibiotics. This whole mess started when I was on Enbrel (I stopped taking that) to treat my psoriasis. I know that I don't have HIV since I already got tested for that (fairly recent too).
1570772 tn?1295666856 My new general practitioner prescribed me with prednisone 20mg per pill 3 times a day. I've taken this same dosage before and works amazing on me. I take it 10 days and for 20 days after treatment I'm still pretty cleared up. Heres where the question part comes in: I heard taking prednisone chronically can seriously damage my body but its really all I can afford.
Avatar f tn I have been told to get off Enbrel for needed gallbladder surgery. My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.
Avatar f tn I am on Embrel treatment for my psoriasis and I got test foe STD's and everything came out negative, but the herpes came: IGG I : 0.28which is negative but the IGG II : 3.62, but I just remember that a day before the test I had an embrel. Can the Embrel affect the result of the test?

Avatar m tn Because you mentioned psoriasis, have they checked you for psoriatic arthritis or one of the other spondylotharapies such as ankylosing spondylitis? AS is associated with eye problems.
775302 tn?1253100505 Probably the most liver friendly drug in the group and in fact at one time they trialed Enbrel with interferon and riba, not to treat psoriasis but to increase the efficacy of treatment.
Avatar m tn TNF is the leading autoimmune cause of psoriasis and that is why they use enbrel and TNF inhibitors to treat psoriasis. So is the replication of hsv2 causing the psoriasis by increasing my TNF when it replicates at macrophage ganglion.
Avatar f tn Nothing controlled her pain, despite sulfasalazine, methotrexate, plaquenil, and heavy doses of oxycontin for pain, and a lot of illegal (bad for the liver...methotrexate is bad enough on the poor organ) tylenol. A few years ago, mum went to see a different rheumatologist and now she's saved!! She takes Enbrel now and it literally saved her life. Her arthritis is so much better now...not to say it won't worsen over time, but she's really doing much better, living a good life.
422104 tn?1209763904 Makes sense. The secretary started to say on the message " it is too much" and stopped herself, guess I jumped to the needle thing too quickly. I start taking Enbrel tomorrow for my arthritis and AS, the neuro says it's ok. When I researched the drug it states that people with MS should not take it. I asked a neuro on this forum about it and he said Enbrel can " increase and or bring on demyelination".
422104 tn?1209763904 Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?
Avatar n tn AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS. I SEEM MY RA DOCTOR THE OTHER DAY AND ADVISED HIM I'M GOING TO GET OFF OF THE ENBREL AND SEE IF MY THROAT CONDITION IMPROVES. HE DID NOT THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM.
