Elidel for rosacea

Common Questions and Answers about Elidel for rosacea

elidel

Avatar m tn Today I use Rozex Gel 1% which looks fair for maintenance but does not eliminate the redness, sometime I use Elidel for 102 days, I am affraid to use Elidel because I heard 2 docs telling it can cause cancer, but Elidel evidently remove the redness from the face. Any advice from the lovely people here in this forum will be deeply appericiated.
Avatar m tn I have Rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis also. But Elidel is for Eczema not Rosacea. Maybe he was using it off label for you? It does have some long term potential side effects. I would get another opinion. You may be getting rebound from going off of it. I am not sure if this drug does that. Cortisone definitely does. I use azaleic acid topical. It has worked for me for a long time. It is a prescription. You can also try low dose Doxycycline.
Avatar m tn Same problem here, doctor send me to a dermatologist, He put me on Doxycycline hycate and a face gel called Sulfacetamide. Was working great but the Doxycycline seemed to give me stomach issues. When i go back i'm going to ask about metrogel, that seemed to work better after my first tx. Best to you.
493068 tn?1224765315 The Metrogel seems to work best for redness, the Razmid or Sodium for pustules (pimples) and the Elidel for scaling. Seriously considered laser treatments but seem to have it under control not to mention the expense. Like TnHepGuy, I was congratulated by one of my top doc consultants on finishing treatment but he said he never heard about tx-induced rosacea and would get back to me after checking around. He never did.
Avatar m tn hi, i'm just repling to Rosacea Treatment i was just wondering how long did it take for the redness to disappear?
Avatar f tn 2 years ago I used some abrasive pads from oil olay and also a make up to remove the oil from your skin after using the make up for 3 days and the pads a few times, I developed a huge rash on my face with something that looks like pimples. For the first time in my life after 32 years of age I had to visit a dermatologist and they gave me oral cortisone and also pandel cream for my face. It didnt't itch but it burns after those treatments everything would still come back.
Avatar m tn In general, the Sulfa or Rezamid is for pimples/pustules and the Metrogel for redness. If any scaling I will use Elidel Cream which also can help the redness. Occasionally I just mix up two or three on my hand and apply them together. The above seems to work for me but you may have to experiment. Very important to use a very strong and non-irritating sunscreen if the sun is a trigger which it is for many with rosacea. I found the Blue Lizard Sunscreen products excellent.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed locoid lipocream for mild dermatitis on my face. I was on it for 34 days and now am tapering off of it. I have not used the cream for 2 days but last night my face was a little flushed. I do not have rosacea, but is redness after stopping a topical steroid cream normal? I plan to use it every 3 days, then every 4, every 5 and then stop. Does that sound like a good tapering schedule or should I just stop cold turkey?
Avatar m tn thank you both I do remember getting the UVB narrowband before while I was taking the Elidel, for some reason I had stopped taking the Elidel and now I'm taking it again but I haven't had the UVB lately, I will ask them to use both of them again b/c my skin cleared up a lil bit when they did both.
Avatar n tn I have used elidel for approximately 3 years and have had nothing but excellent results!
Avatar m tn It seems as though my condition has improved somewhat, but not completely and I am wondering whether or not I should try the Elidel now since I want to get this resolved faster! So I want to know if Elidel is really safe for the penis skin, since on the instructions it says not to get in eyes, vagina, mouth or rectum. Okay, so what happens if some gets down into my urethra since the area I am treating is right on my meatus (skin at pee-hole opening)?
Avatar n tn First of all that is not a topical treatment! I'm talking about an ointment or cream that helps reverse the effects of atrophy caused by the use of a potent steroid cream. I used Diprosone cream for 5 days(twice daily) & then a year later after minimal recovery I used Elidel (a non-steroid cream) for about 12 days(twice daily) both on the same spot on my penis glands! So what kind of damage would this have likely done & what can I use to help the skin return to normal again?
Avatar m tn Hi Dr.! Thanks very much for your answer. After applying Dermatix for 2 weeks and saw no result, I decided to see a dermatologist. He prescribed me: 1. Carmed cream 2. Hydrocortisone 2.5% 3. Adeps Lanae I've been applying them for only 2 days now, but I'm kinda wondering whether he gave me the wrong drugs. To my very limited knowledge (please correct me if I'm wrong), Hydrocortisone is used for eczema, so I was afraid he mistook my skin condition for eczema.
Avatar n tn I want to know if two weeks is considered long-term or short-term use associated with the use of TCI's, specifically "Elidel"? I used Elidel for about 12 days in a row & I'm now concerned as to whether that was too long to safely use considering the warnings on it regarding long-term use. So is 2 weeks considered a short-term use with this topical medication, or what exactly is "short-term use" defined as?
Avatar n tn This was necessary since the area affected is right on the skin around the meatus of my penis. Anyways, I used the Elidel for almost 12 days (twice a day) without any significant results, so I stopped. What I want to know is this enough time for the Elidel to take full effect? Could it have done any harm to my skin after almost two weeks use, since it didn't really help, if so then what?
Avatar f tn I’ve used steroids like desonide and elidel topical solutions before on my face. They worked fine, but dependency on the medicine increased(condition coming back when I stop using them). Recently, I got to know that clotrimazole is a good non-steroid alternative and started applying Clotrimazole 1% cream. It’s been more than 10 days I’ve been using this cream(twice a day) and it doesn’t seem to help(Desonide or Elidel helped in lesser time).
Avatar f tn After a month i broke out with atopic dermatitis again but this time it was red itchy bumps so she gave me elidel to use for 3 and a half months.. Whenever i stop elidel there are itchy pimple like rash on my cheeks with a little whithead that is tiny but oozes fluid! Is that a withdrawal from elidel?!!
Avatar n tn t have used it for that long without seeing results! Was this too long for me to use Elidel if dermatitis is not really what I have; and if so, what could have this done in terms of damage to normal skin?
Avatar m tn After researching it and finding out that it has a black box warning, I also asked for a prescription for EpiCeram which I am currently using and have used for almost a month now. My condition seems to be slightly improving very slowly, so I just wondered if Elidel would be any more effective than EpiCeram and clear my problem faster? Also, how long should I expect it to take for each of these topicals to work if applying them twice a day?
Avatar n tn Thank you for your response. My dermatologist has taken me off elidel completely last week and doubled up my Doxy to 100mg twice a day. She did say that my rash could get worse at first but eventually the Doxy should work. I am only using Cetaphil for my face. My rash certainly returned as she advised. I'm have trouble understanding why the Elidel worked so well to clear it up but as soon as I stop it, everything returns? (seems was a temporary fix).

Avatar n tn Thanks for the response doctor. However, what effects would Elidel likely have on normal skin, or skin that didn't actually have eczema? I used it for 12 days (twice daily) on already thin skin for what I thought was dermatitis, although after this time I saw no improvement so therefore discontinued its use. Also, in your opinion, was "almost two weeks" too long to use Elidel without beneficial results or what harm could have it done? <Please answer this!
