What are some of the more common side effects of metronidazole for dogs?
Your dogs may be passing diseases or parasites back and forth to each other. Giardia is very ubiquitous in the environment and difficult to get rid of.
You may need a really good yard and house clean up with diluted bleach, and give a prolonged course of Panacur, or Metronidazole to all your dogs' simultaneously. I would continue the Metoclopramide while Ricky is on the Panacur or Metronidazole. Your dogs' may also benefit from 5mg. of pepcid each morning.
and during the latter part of the month, I was experiencing some pain in my Vagina. It was itchy, sore and most horrible of all.. I had this awful green/yellow discharge. I had to change my underwear lots of times.
When I found out that I had trich, I bought Metronidazole and took 2grams (1 dosage) of it. Metronidazole made me feel really sick! Anyway, after a week I realized that I still had trich. Exactly the same symptoms were still there. So, I took Tinidazole.. a 2g dose.
I am convinced the food has worsened the condition of his stool but i am also bias as I only give my dogs USA “human grade” premium foods, I also used to cook my previous dogs food (of course mixing it with a number of plant based supplements). Either way, I really am not sure what to do, I am so scared my little puppy is going to worsen, he has been through so much already, any input is greatly appreciated!

The doctor gave me Metronidazole pills to take to treat Trich and should told me i couldnt have any alcohol 3 days before and after takin the pills including the alcohol in mouthwash bc it was cause a bad stomach ache. i was also wondering if this included my toothpaste which has mouthwash beads? Or is regular toothpaste better or not good either?
I'm taking antibiotics, including Metronidazole 500mg for h.pylori. I was at my sister's wedding last night and took 2 glasses of bubbly to toast with the guests, and then switched to water all night (being under the impression that antibiotics just worsen the impact of the alcohol so this is why you shouldn't drink). About 6-7 hours later I started feeling really unwell (nausea, frequent washroom trips, flushed skin)..
Some of the side effects reported vary due to different breeds & several other factors. We have 1 Rottweiler mix male & 2 rescued dogs (German Rottweiler female & American Rottweiler female). German Rotty was approx 2 y/o when rescued. She had her first seizure approx 2 months ago. Scared me to death. A month later she had another so I knew some of the signs before hand. My mixed male & American Rotty female were going crazy when the seizures occurred.
I’ve been on my second day of Metronidazole and I drank a little bit of wine today. The concentration is 10 percent and I had it mixed with juice, should that be enough to cause any side effects?
It is a well know fact in veterinary pharmacology that high doses of metronidazole can cause neurological symptoms. The neurological symptoms are usually dose specific and once the medication is discontinued your dog should return to normal unless there is concurrent neurolgical disease.
Then in the early evening, he had a major seizure. This time, he had three of them in a row, and afterward, was back to lethargic. As money is tight because of Christmas, we had no money to take him to the vet until today. He has been lethargic ever since Saturday morning, will only eat beef and rice that I make him and not much of it, he's drinking some water and using the bathroom outside like normal, but all he wants to do all day is sleep. It's very sad. Sooo not himself!
Anyone ever been prescribed metronidazole for a bacterial infection of the vjay?im 14-15 weeks pregnant and was just wondering..I've taken my azitheomycin for the second time and hope it clears up whatever seems to be going on but the first time I took my single dose they told me it killed the good and the bad bacteria but that I got a bacterial infection so the prescribed me metronidazole,called back and gave me another single dose of azitheomycin..

The usual side effects in canines from phenobarbital use are lethargy, polydipsia (increased thirst), polyuria (increased urination), polyphagia (increased appetite), anxiety and weight gain. From the symptoms I think your vet is probably right on the money with the diagnosis of a mass in the brain, but I doubt that the tremors signify pain because you said they are of short duration.
I was recently diagnosed with trich and was prescribed by a nurse 500 mg 2 times a day for 5 days of metronidazole. I'm really cautious and worried about taking it because i searched and this pill has a lot of bad side effects, like making you really sick. It says that there is an alternative pill called azithromycin with less side effects. I talked to my OB about that and she said that she hasn't prescribed that to anyone who has trich.
