Avatar f tn I will have to take a looksee! Thanks, Peek!
Avatar n tn I am a student at San Francisco State university and I am creating a magazine for teen girls with Type 1 Diabetes for my senior thesis project. My sister was diagnosed when she was 5 and now that she's 13, things are getting more difficult. I decided that a magazine aimed specifically at teen girls with diabetes might be helpful. It is going to be almost like a fashion magazine covering issues like eating disorders to politics but in a way that is interesting and accessable.
Avatar f tn t buy the foods that send you into eating binges. Look up recipes that use healthy ingredients like fresh vegetables and lean meats. Spend your time cooking healthy, delicious recipes and eating food you take an interest in, instead of following your bad habits and eating without thinking.
Avatar f tn Wraps! There is soo many different things you can do with them., My husbands favorite is wheat wrap, then spread cream cheese on it (you can do low fat), and sprinkle some garlic powder on the cream cheese, spinach leafs, then turkey, rolled up. Sooo good, sounds a little weird but it's really good!
1277082 tn?1344057820 Well, I don't really have any actual recipes but I do have advice for you in which it should probably help you out. For us with PCOS, it makes our bodies harder to digest simple carbs (i.e. pasta, breads, rice). So because of this, this is why we gain weight and this is why it takes so long to come off. My suggestions are as follows: Bread: whole grain, high fiber. Anything high fiber (yes it is more calories) works to your advantage, because it will make your body feel more full...
Avatar n tn They are an amazing group of supportive people with the same problem, and they have learned through strict diet low-carb high-fat, not only can they control her diabetes that they can really lower their numbers and get their A-1 C back where it belongs. Check them out. But be prepared for some strict, honest advice. Loads of recipes and eating guidelines.

3178444 tn?1348441829 s gonna be on the menu.. Well ha! Everything sounds so good, I want to cook it all! Anyone else having this problem?
Avatar f tn Well good luck on eating that!
Avatar n tn If nothing is open, bring food from home. As you well know,a well balanced diet, but one that omits sugar and very sweet fruits and is light on carbohydrates is the way to go. There are all sorts of books out there that can help you.
7058746 tn?1393435420 I'm in the same situation, I found out last week and don't meet the diabetes educator until Wednesday. Its all about the sugar and carbs and counting them. Carbs turn into sugar so you have to make sure your not eating too many. I've found some great recipes on the diabetes association website. The internet can be scary to read but also you can find some very helpful information, there are so many recipes to choose from. Hope that helps and good luck!
Avatar n tn Has any one else been placed on a low sodium diet by their baby doctor? I was told I have high blood pressure and just as a caution I should go on a low sodium diet. So I've been Googling recipes and things but I'm not finding to many. Does any one has some advice about the diet or some amazing recipes? That would be amazing!!
Avatar f tn I need to start eating more low glycemic index foods. Anyone know of good cookbooks?
Avatar f tn Thank you!
Avatar f tn I have always had an issue with disordered eating. It is not clinically diagnosed, but I am smart enough to recognize when something isn't healthy. My problem is that I will go from one extreme to another. I either don't care what I eat and just eat whatever or I get very obsessed with what I'm eating and the amount of calories in it. Counting calories can be triggering for me, so I have held off on that for a while.
Avatar n tn I am pretty much a vegetarian now. I do eat some fish and chicken breast on occasion though. There are recipes galore on the internet. I mainly stick to the heart healthy and liver healthy recipes. It is a bit more expensive, but I have lost almost 20 lbs. in less than 3 weeks. This is not water weight either! I have cut out all sugar, salt, dairy, wheat, cocoa, and caffeine out of my diet.
Avatar m tn I read in Prevention magazine that coughing can be controlled by eating dark chocolate. I bought a bar of it and broke off a square and ate it every time I felt like coughing after eating. It cleared up after a week of doing this.
4261944 tn?1639605479 Switch o wholemeal small slice bread, sweetener, and I live for the recipes in the SW magazine and on the website! You won't believe what satisfying meals u can make. Also when I'm feeling lazy, I have a can of spaghetti hoops to hand as they're free! Team it up with toasted wholemeal bread (for your healthy B) and voila ;) it's been 9 weeks and I snack a lot less now, but make habit to have fruit every 2-3 hours between meals.
Avatar f tn I LOVE LOVE chicken but I need to start eating healthy! First time mommy, husband is military with diabetes so any healthy food would be wonderful!! Need ideas for tonight and on!!
Avatar n tn You can specify vegan recipes. The majority of their recipes are vegetarian, but if you take it one step further and go for the vegan recipes, you'll be able to avoid the dairy and the eggs. Or, look at the vegetarian recipes that call for milk and substitute with the rice milk. I would suggest going easy on the eggs, eventhough they're not actually dairy. Your daughter isn't allergic to them, because eggs aren't from lactating mammals.
Avatar n tn Look up "the full plate diet" it's really NOT a diet, but healthy eating. That's what I do, all it is, is a high fiber diet eating lots of whole grains (brown rice, wheat bread, oatmeal) fruits, vegetables and water.
Avatar f tn Hi I am currently 28 weeks pregnant and found out I have gallstones. They have told me to eat a fat free and dairy freediet for the next 12 weeks when iI will be checked again as surgery whilst I'm pregnant is risky. I am having a really hard time coming up with recipes and options to fill myself up, so far nothing I make had any flavour and it is putting me off eating.
