1831849 tn?1383228392 In today's Wall Street Journal there is an article espousing the theory that eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly can help keep MS at bay. I'm a believer. Your thoughts? http://online.wsj.com/articles/exercise-diet-and-sleep-can-improve-ms-symptoms-1413218026?

212161 tn?1599427282 Barbara, We look forward to hearing updates from you and hope that you have good news for us once you get a diagnosis! Let us know if you have additional questions, especially if there's anything in those journal articles you want clarification on--I know slogging through medical journal articles isn't always the most enjoyable reading--hehehe. Best, Heiferly.
Avatar m tn I am unable to read any of the articles and am going to pull my account. The advertisements are blocking all the articles I wish to read about sleep paralysis and sleep apnea. Why even have an article to be shown if you are going to allow ads to block pertinent information. I know this is free for me, but honestly, what a pain in the ***.
Avatar f tn "Why" is never a simple question when it comes to eating disorders. Eating disorders have many causes, some of them related to ideas and feelings about food and body weight, some of them having to do with other feelings and moods and ideas. What is important right now is not "why" so much as getting help. Neither bulimia or compulsive overeating are manifested with low body weight. Most bulimics have normal weight or a bit over.
Avatar f tn For people with eating disorders it is very important not to focus on fad diets and weight loss. Losing and gaining weight over and over just maintains the vicious cycle of an eating disorder. The beginning of recovery from an eating disorder starts when we realize it isn't about food and weight at all but about so many other things including how we feel about ourselves.
1050179 tn?1253899186 Does anyone know where I can find articles that are concrete in using methadone for chronic pain? I'm on 110mg's of liquid methadone and have to go to the clinic twice a week because I have 5 take home days. But I don't want to have to go there anymore to get the medicine. - At first,I went there because I was taking percocet for my FM pain and kept having to take more and more to get the relief I needed.
Avatar f tn for those interested but without university/hospital library access, talk to your local reference librarian about inter-library options to get access to articles. There are almost always fees for copies of journal articles obtained from other libraries, but costs are generally less than buying the article outright from the journal itself.) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn Are eating disorders on record at all as being communicable? As someone who has been suffering with one for over 15 years now, I would like to propose that they are.
910435 tn?1296748610 You are welcome! It scared me, that's for sure! I had a bout of weird symptoms a couple years back and many of them nuerological. I have actual nerve damage from whatever it was and have to deal with this painful tingling almost daily, when I get these adrenaline-like rushes. I almost wonder if eating all the sugar-free candies/pops, etc. could have contributed to it since the Dr.'s say they don't know what caused it other then the Graves/Hashi's....
Avatar n tn t want to increase chances for diabetes as articles have linked some forms of diabetes to eating too infrequently. Actually, the articles recommended eating something every 2 hours. Excerise is good for taking off weight and healthy to increase muscle strength. Feels so good to be strong.
Avatar f tn If the Gleevec is indeed causing the hyponatremia, then it's likely this way: "Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone Secretion (SIADH)" https://emedicine.medscape.com/article/246650-overview ...which is from too much water being retained. This is because of what happens inside the kidneys. Has she gained a lot of water weight? I'd first think of a Nephrologist (kidney doctor), then maybe an Endocrinologist. But Oncologists should be familiar with all of this anyway.
Avatar f tn The New England Journal of Medicine has a write up of the studies done showing that Epstein-Barr and other viruses, bacteria, mycoplasma's are causitive factors in developing Autoimmune diseases. Just goes to show you that you need to find out WHY you have the disorder not just accept and ignore. Most people don't push to find out why and dig further.

Avatar f tn I have this problem too, except I restrict food a lot and occasionally binge. I suggest taking all the food out of your house (if you can). Plan your meals the day before. Keep a food journal and write down EVERYTHING you eat. Don't cut down on calories just yet, set four medium meals a day. Stick to it. When you start to binge go get a free food (zero calorie foods like celery, cucumbers, and salad). Remember food is for fuel not pleasure, control yourself.
