Avatar f tn I think that there are alot of options open to you besides birth contol pills or taking oral meds....like Brooke said almost all pills have such a risk of clots manifesting themselves especially if you have a family history of blood clots the % goes up for incidence. You may want to look at all other options out there for you besides taking "the pill" and i know there are many of them out there.
Avatar f tn I've been taken the Drospirenone for about two years, and before I had the HIV test, I also had taken some skin disease medicine, will these medicine influence the test?
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been on treatment for PCOS for a year and a half now with Drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol birth control pills. My OB/GYN asked for a blood test in order to see how my hormones are doing. While I am content that my testosterone levels are within normal range (it was very high at the moment of diagnosis and I was suffering from many uncomfortable effects) my prolactin levels are 38.25. I understand that this is high but, is it very high? should I be concerned?

1583546 tn?1296671467 heres some information i pasted from another site contraceptive pill called Dianette®. Dianette® is commonly prescribed to regulate periods, to help reduce hair growth, to reduce acne, and is a good contraceptive. ◦The combined contraceptive pill Yasmin® (a combination of ethinylestradiol and drospirenone) has been shown to help if Dianette® is not suitable. ◦Other antitestosterone drugs are sometimes advised by a specialist if the above treatments do not help.
Avatar f tn For me, the severe joint, leg and hip pain I had (which I also had on tamoxifen and that was one of the side effects they could not control along with hair on fire hot flashes) was more than I could bear. I am off all hormone blocking/AI meds and have been off of them for several months. As time passes the pain seems to lessen and I'm feeling more and more like my old self. I know I am taking a risk but this was a quality of life issue for me and it's my decision with no regrets.
Avatar f tn Scalp benefits balancing shampoo by aveda. Their lines are expensive but you really get what you pay for. I was getting extremely greasy and flaky hair, I use Kenra and bed head products normally but went and bought aveda's rosemary mint and it totally changed my hair and scalp. No more flakes or itchy scalp for this lady (; the scalp benefits has even helped people with psoriasis.
180483 tn?1229529168 Hair is not from estrogen, it is from male adrenal hormones, the body odor and pubic and axillary hair will not go away per se so do not expect that. What we treat with lupron is the female hormone signalling that lead to ovulation and periods, that is important as estrogen advances bone age and limits final height and who wants a period in 2nd grade! Hope this helps with your additional question. Sounds like your doc is working gradually but carefully.

Avatar f tn This provides you with a young, healthy glow. 3- Healthier hair Cold water makes your hair look healthier and shinier. As a matter of fact, cool air makes your hair shinier too (that’s why there is a cool air button on your hair dryer). What the cold water does is that it closes the cuticle which makes the hair stronger and prevents dirt from easily accumulating within your scalp. Basically, the same principle with how it closes the pores of your skin as mentioned above.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am a 26 year-old female and have been experiencing hair loss at the frontal area over the last few months. I have had quite a lot of stress recently since the grad school started but I am not sure if that is the reason. I was told about Rogaine. I was wondering if you think it would help? If yes, how long do you think i should use it? Does it have any side effects that you have heard of? Is there anything else that you suggest I could do?

Avatar f tn Drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) and my OB/GYN wants to see how my hormones are doing. The hormones he wants to check are prolactin, cortisol and testosterone and my GP has also ordered estradiol as she suspects that checking cortison will not be possible (it has to be done in a hospital and this is unavailable atm due to COVID-19). I will have a blood test next Tuesday, coincidentally during my placebo week (and probably my first day of period).

Avatar m tn Is it possible then that somehow, these proteins have been reduced or disabled in our body and any possible allergen is 100% uncontrolled and released to those around us? I was hoping to somehow supplement these proteins to test this hypothesis if they have been disabled/reduced in my body and the previous article link was based on Japanese sake containing extractable amounts of these proteins in the yeast.
Avatar f tn ve spread to cover my entire chest, upper arms(down to short sleeve length), and upper back pretty solidly. This past week, its spread to my lower back and upper butt, and the top of my stomach. I went to a dermatologist, and he diagnosed me with prurigo, gave me a prescription for some cream and told me to use sarna. Didn't explain what it was, nothing, so I looked it up when I got home - I do not believe that is what I have.
