It can be due to cystic acne. Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Since they are severe, so systemic medications are usually required. The treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics, tretinoin, oral contraceptives in females and Intralesional corticosteroid injections. Very severe cases may need excision and drainage.
Can someone tell me what STDs can be treated with Doxycycline? Can you list all of them please? Thank you.

I've been taking doxycycline for acne on my back for a few weeks (50 mg twice daily). The doxycycline was prescribed for inflamed pimples on my back, which would be sore and red. Each individual pimple would go away on its own but I would generally have a couple new ones every week.
I had been having acid reflux before I started taking the doxycycline, and it seems to be worse now. Yesterday, I rolled over on my stomach while in bed and my esophagus was burned by acid.
I've had the same clutter of acne on my check for about 2 years now. It looks like acne but I've taken everything you can think of, doxycycline, accuzone and now I've started facials but it still doesn't go away. There are days where it is less appearant but has never gone away in this 2 year period. My dermatologist thinks it's acne but my Estetitian thinks it might be dermatitis(which I've had in my arms when I was little).
What should I do??
I was on Doxycycline for 4 years straight to help with my acne (come to find out just taking the right birth control pills cleared up my acne in 2 weeks) and never had hair loss problems until recently when I stopped taking it about 4 or 5 months ago. So my issue doesn't really make sense if it's suppose to cause hair loss while taking it then why did I not experience it until after I stopped ?

The rash looks a bit like acne - small, red bumps, with slight blackheads - but looks scaly, dry, and really just like a number of small, spread out red bumps. I have seen a dermatology PA a few times, who has provided me with various samples of topical treatments, but none really worked well or made the rash burn more intensely. The PA also prescribed Doxycycline to knock the rash away.
Doctor, do you think these patches of folliculitis could be from food allergy, like some facial acne. Also i have taken doxycycline before and that took it away for the most part. would starting another regiment of that help clear the infection?

I have suffered from acne for a few years now and last May I went to a dermatologist to help treat it. I was prescribed doxycycline, an antibiotic also used in the treatment of STD's ( I believe.) A few weeks later I experienced a rash on my inner thigh and scrotum where it touches my inner thigh on both sides. This lasted for a few weeks but eventually subsided with regular cleaning and showering and trying not to get too sweaty.
I have severe cysitc acne that covers my upper back. I went to a dermatologist for this condition beginning at age 12.
During the course of treatment I was perscribed Minocycline, Doxycycline, tetracycline, and sulfa based medications, all resulting in allergic reactions. I was finally placed on Accutane with positive results while taking the drug, however six months after completing treatment, the acne returned again.
If you are having inflammatory acne then tetracycline or doxycycline or minocycline; benzoyl peroxide 5% gel; azelaic acid 20% cream; clindamycin 1% lotion or cream; erythromycin 2% gel or cream.
If you are having recalcitrant acne in women then probably oral contraceptive containing norgestimate 0.25 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.035 mg; spironolactone; prednisone.
If you have acne where sweating is an aggravating factor then aluminum chloride solution should be your choice of your treatment.
So I've been on doxycycline capsules for 12 days being treatment for acne, I still have a dose of bout 1and a half months to use. However on the 12day which was yesterday I had unprotected sex with my partner and bout 4 hours later I used postinor 1(2 tabs) and 12 hours after used another dose again of postinor 1(2tabs also)
I'm kinda worried cuz I later got to find out that antibiotics affect the rate of effectiveness of oral contraceptives.

I perform oral sex with a stranger, I shouldn't have had but what done is done, i couldnt turn back time and I feel guilty and regret and scared.
