Avatar m tn I've been taking doxycycline for acne on my back for a few weeks (50 mg twice daily). The doxycycline was prescribed for inflamed pimples on my back, which would be sore and red. Each individual pimple would go away on its own but I would generally have a couple new ones every week. I had been having acid reflux before I started taking the doxycycline, and it seems to be worse now. Yesterday, I rolled over on my stomach while in bed and my esophagus was burned by acid.
Avatar m tn You should follow the treatment of oral antibiotics like doxycycline but for the topical steroids you should consult your dermatologist and taper of the drug. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn I was on Doxy 100mg for about a month for antimalarial reasons, saw a slight improvement in my skin, and was then prescribed Doxy 50mg for acne indefinitely. I’ve been on this for about 3 weeks. I have definitely noticed fewer pimples, but I still have the odd one here and there. I’ve also been using 10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel which I think has worked wonders. I would like to go off Doxy 50mg to see if it is the Doxy or the Benzoyl which has helped my skin.
Avatar f tn I have horrible acne and was prescribed doxycycline. I take orthrotricyclen, does anyone know if they interfere?
Avatar f tn I was on it for a while because of acne but I wanted to know what STDs it could be used for because I have some discharge. And tomorrow I am done with it so I wanted to know what it could have cleared if I indeed did have anything.
Avatar f tn But 10 days back i also started taking doxycycline hyclate for my acne treatment.I am worried now and want to know about my chances og getting pregnant this month?
Avatar f tn I've had the same clutter of acne on my check for about 2 years now. It looks like acne but I've taken everything you can think of, doxycycline, accuzone and now I've started facials but it still doesn't go away. There are days where it is less appearant but has never gone away in this 2 year period. My dermatologist thinks it's acne but my Estetitian thinks it might be dermatitis(which I've had in my arms when I was little). What should I do??
Avatar n tn With simple acne treatment, they will go away for a month or so and come back. Is this normal and is there anything I can do?
Avatar f tn So I've been on doxycycline capsules for 12 days being treatment for acne, I still have a dose of bout 1and a half months to use. However on the 12day which was yesterday I had unprotected sex with my partner and bout 4 hours later I used postinor 1(2 tabs) and 12 hours after used another dose again of postinor 1(2tabs also) I'm kinda worried cuz I later got to find out that antibiotics affect the rate of effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
Avatar m tn I am a male and in my teens and have Perioral dermatitis which I have read is uncommon, I know exactly how I got the skin condition from to much use of a Steroidal topical cream, I am now going through my second flare up - my last flare was about 2 years ago around this time, I think the flare up was caused by chlorinated water, which I read is not good for this condition I have been struggling to keep this condition under control and my treatment from my last time does not seem to be working, w
Avatar n tn Two weeks later a large infected rash appeared. I got myself tested for Lyme and it came out negative. I was given a day of Doxycycline and then it was changed to Amoxicillan. I took it for two weeks. The doctor told me to stop the medication and get retested. Two weeks later, I got my positive results. I had, at this point, two weeks on, two weeks off the antibiotics. When I returned to the doctor with positive results, he put me back on Doxycycline for another two weeks.
Avatar n tn Hello and thank you for your wonderful services! I have suffered from acne for a few years now and last May I went to a dermatologist to help treat it. I was prescribed doxycycline, an antibiotic also used in the treatment of STD's ( I believe.) A few weeks later I experienced a rash on my inner thigh and scrotum where it touches my inner thigh on both sides. This lasted for a few weeks but eventually subsided with regular cleaning and showering and trying not to get too sweaty.
Avatar f tn I have been looking on the internet and I have found doxy is prescribed mostly for acne. So can it also be used for folliculitis? My situation is I took doxy for 11 days and then stopped for 3 days because it seemed to get a lot worse. My pharmacist convined me to go back on it because it takes a while to workand it gets worse before it gets better. Been on it for 24 days again now and it is still pretty bad, not as bad as when I first took it. Is this normal? How long will it take to clear up?
