Avatar m tn During Tx I got Rosacea, now I know that before Tx I had Seborea and during the Tx it gor worsen and I got Rosacea, the Rosacea during Tx was much more severe then it is now. Rozex doesn't help, many times I have redness on the T zone on my face, the only thing that help is a little bit Elidel. Does anyone here familiar with that, I mean - to get Rosacea during Tx, does it become better after Tx ? Is it curable? Any experience with Elidel or any other medication for Rosacea ?
Avatar n tn s excellent post, but I have had to take doxycycline for Rosacea and am alway uptight when it is suggested, as I very often get serious diarrhea from antibiotics. For me, then, anxiety is always high when an antibiotic is prescribed. Phobic about the medicine. I never experienced anxiety from this medication. I think I may have been on an SSRI a few times when doxicycline was recommended.... Do follow up on mammo's advice. Good luck!
Avatar m tn OK I need help, doctors are stumped. In Dec of 2018 I woke up one morning with the left side of my nose tip/ nostril swollen and red. Thought it would go away. It did not. Then I came down with a very bad cold/ post nasal drip/ sinus infection. Lasted for about a month on and off. During this time my nose swelling did not go away despite dr. putting me on antiobiotics and an oral steroid.
Avatar f tn Background. Have had limited rosacea on face for years. Over the past couple years,I've been exposed to someone who had a 'dormant' cold sore, and exposed to someone who had uveitis or iritis (not knowing it was probably triggered by a virus). My rosacea is getting worse with lesions on the nose. Putting topical finacea clears up one area, but the itchy redness creeps past the treated area and I now have ocular rosacea.
Avatar n tn Tetracycline, minocycline, erythromycin, and doxycycline are the most common antibiotics used to treat rosacea. Some people respond quickly, while others require long-term therapy. Isotretinoin may be considered as a treatment option for all forms of severe or therapy-resistant rosacea. Sunscreens, particularly those that protect against ultraviolet A and B light waves and have a sun-protecting factor (SPF) of 13 or higher, are recommended for all people with rosacea.
493068 tn?1224765315 I saw my eye doctor again with terrible rosacea and the stye was so painful in my right eye. I have felt as though the pain was burning through the back of my eye. He put me back on the erthromycin ointment and the Doxycycline and he said I will have to take Doxycycline the rest of my life. Is all the pain from the rosacea or could the glaucoma cause some too. It has been terrible to handle. I am on Travatan Z and doing eye scrubs 3x/day. I also had the tear duct plugs again.
Avatar m tn If not, make an appointment asap. I sometimes use doxycycline in low (sub-antibiotic effect) doses of 50mg a day or so to treat chronic lid margin disease like blepharitis or acne rosacea. We really don't use it much, as ophthalmologists, for its antibacterial effect but more for its ability to reduce oily secretions on the eyelid margin and some anti-inflammatory effects. I'm a little confused at your regimen.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have severe ocular rosacea and facial rosacea. I have been in just severe pain. I have kept a juournal for 6 months and stress form ilness ex: UTI and low humidity makes it go wild. I feel like I just can't handle this horrible pain much longer. My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Has anyone had low dose doxycycline (50mg) used for rosacea or used any antibiotic and got severe vertigo 40 minutes after taking it? I had dizzyness then vertigo and my right ear went deaf then I almost fell but my husband caught me and I got nauseated, tired and cold. It only lasted for about 20-30 seconds. I have been sore from almost falling and jerking myself and tired all day.
Avatar f tn My dermatologist did a full body check last Tuesday and told me I have Rosacea both on my face (only on my nose) and Occular Rosacea. I have been having recurrent styes for years in one eye. He put me on Oracea (Doxycycline 40mg time released) and I've taken it for 5 days. Late last night I noticed a stye sensation in the same place as usual and see one is forming on the inside of the lower lid. How long does it take for the antibiotic to prevent more styes?
493068 tn?1224765315 He put me back on the erythromycin ointment and Doxycycline. I had lost my plugs so those were replaced. The stye was so big in my right eye and the pain was just so bad radiating from the back of my eye like fire. He said I would have to take Doxcycline the rest of my life. Is the all of the pain from the rosacea or could it be the glaucoma or something else? Should I go to another doc to have the surgery? I am in so much pain. thanks so much!
Avatar f tn A dermatologist, a medical doctor who specializes in diseases of the skin, often treats rosacea. Treatment goals are to control the condition and improve appearance. Rosacea is a cutaneous disorder primarily of convexities of the central part of the FACE, such as FOREHEAD; CHEEK; NOSE; and CHIN. It is characterized by FLUSHING; ERYTHEMA; EDEMA; RHINOPHYMA; papules; and ocular symptoms.

Isotretinoin may be considered as a treatment option for all forms of severe or therapy-resistant rosacea. Electrosurgery and laser surgery may be options to treat redness, enlarged blood vessels, and rhinophyma. In some patients, laser surgery may result in improved skin appearance with little scarring or damage.

Avatar m tn I have Rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis also. But Elidel is for Eczema not Rosacea. Maybe he was using it off label for you? It does have some long term potential side effects. I would get another opinion. You may be getting rebound from going off of it. I am not sure if this drug does that. Cortisone definitely does. I use azaleic acid topical. It has worked for me for a long time. It is a prescription. You can also try low dose Doxycycline.
Avatar f tn Another possibility that needs to be evaluated is steroid induced rosacea. Steroid induced rosacea or dermatitis is an adverse effects of using steroids. Some patients develop steroid-induced rosacea within weeks of applying a topical steroid; others may not experience it for years. Avoiding rosacea triggers, such as caffeine, spicy foods, and alcohol, also may help clear the skin.

Avatar m tn Accutane induced rosacea is mentioned on various forums. This is quite an informative answer i came across on "The Rosacea Forum" - Rosacea from accutane? "Accutane/isotretinoin flushing is a big red flag that the body has had enough and isn't coping with the retinoic acid... Hives often indicate a serious drug reaction. The post-Accutane period is the most unknown.
Avatar m tn I just had a bad case of staph infection due to infected hardware during a spinal fusion. I have taken eight weeks of IV cephazolin. The doctor recomends taking 100 mg of doxycycline twice daily for life. I question the lifetime use of this drug.
Avatar f tn The main symptoms of this condition include red or pink patches, visible broken blood vessels, small red bumps, red cysts, and can include pink or irritated eyes. In some cases this is successfully treated with antibiotics, such as doxycycline, which suppresses chronic bacterial infections in the skin.
Avatar f tn I think I should see a ophthalmologist to rule out herpes in the eye. I see dermatologist to rule out rosacea. What are the chances of getting ocular herpes from that occurrence?
Avatar n tn After seeing a dermatologist he prescribed me Doxycycline for 1 month and an ointment made of Clindamycin 2%, HC 1% in 80% h20 and 20% isopropanol. This ointment took away the red spots before I even started the anti biotics but once I ran out, the spots came back again...

Avatar n tn First Tetracycline, then Doxycycline and finally, for the last 10 months, minocycline which I know can in rare cases cause some type of liver toxicity. I have stopped the antibiotics and hope that clears up the problem. When or how long should I wait to start to be concerned? Thanks so much.
