Still dizzy, hearing been getting worse all day. Very quick. It's definitely the nitrofurantoin. I wondered as it says it can swell the salivary glands, cause sore throats and constant cold if it's to do with thst or a part of the nerve damage side effect? Did it resolve for you?

Wow, that's a lot. That is one heck of a UTI and long stream of drugs tried. I'm the type that wants the stronger antibiotic right off the bat to knock out the infection from the get go. Yes, get checked again to see if you still have bacteria. You either haven't fully gotten rid of that original UTI or you are somehow reintroducing bacteria into the urinary tract.
My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex twice in the course of 24 hours (came in me twice) and I then found out I had a UTI three days later. After 7 days of this exposure i feel UTI like symptoms and diagnosis done by a urologist and tell me that u have UTI. My urine culture was positive with E.coli. i took antibiotics Doxycycline, nitrofurantoin, fosfomycin, farobact, Mikacin . Symptoms go away after 40 days of antibiotic course. But after one month symtoms repeats.
After 3 months of this exposure i have pain in penis, burning senstation during urination & ejaculation, heavy yellow urine.i went to a urologist.
I’ve been suffering from IC for 5 years now and for some odd reason Nitrofurantoin/Macrobid seems to work well for me, even when my urine culture comes back negative. I take it (100 mg X 2 for 10 days) when my IC flares and within a few days the symptoms are essentially gone. They often come back 3-5 months later, but at least it works temporarily.
My doctors have no idea why this medication works, but it’s been working pretty consistently for the past 3-4 years now.
