Avatar n tn Hi, I have a 6 year old son with autism and asthma who has currently started on the Xopenex for the asthma control. He has become extremely hyperactive and somewhat aggressive with the Xopenex, and I am wondering if there are any other meds that wouldn't have this side effect.
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
Avatar n tn Hi, fast heart rate is due to Xopenex. Initially, use of this drug is associated with this side effect but over a period of time, tolerance usually develops. In case if you have a pre exisiting heart disease, please avoid this drug. Consult you treating doctor to lower the dose or frequency, other alternative is sustained release deriphylline tablets.
Avatar f tn I am going to ask for a sample of Xopenex to try for odor exposures again.
Avatar n tn Hi, Thank you for all information. We were tested his TSH value on yesterday after one month of treatment. It seems like TSH value got reduced very much. Now the TSH values is >.05. I think it is too low. Our doctor advised that even if it is too low then also not much issue. He said that increasing the TSH value is more complicate than decreasing it. Also he said that suddenly reducing the dosage is cause some other issues and he advise to continue the same dosage .
1580703 tn?1651904887 This forum is not a substistute for a medical examination. Headaches can be caused by a lot of things. High blood pressure, that is not controlled, for example. If you need eyeglasses, or have old eyeglasses, eye strain can lead to headaches. There are different kinds of primary headache syndromes. Headaches could be a sign of a serious condition. If prednisone is relieving your headaches, you may want to go see a neurologist.
Avatar n tn Patients who are receiving systemic or nebulized formulations of beta-2 agonists, high dosages of inhaled beta-2 agonists, or systemic corticosteroid therapy may be at a greater risk of developing hypokalemia and hence best avoided. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1763947 tn?1334055319 When I went to refill my inhalers the pharmacist said I was taking two inhalers that have steroids in them and that most all people take only 1 of those. I am taking Symbacort,, Asmanex twisthaler and xopenex HFA as a rescue. I am moving soon to FL and have only been in Texas for 10 months. I will see a pulmanary doc when I get to FL but meanwhile has anyone been told this about steroids and or have any suggestions? I see my PCP tomorrow hopefully for the last time before I leave.
Avatar f tn what kind of medicines do i need to have at home for an infant? I know baby tylenol but for the most part am clueless. i know there are drops for gas and i something to drink after ingesting something poisonous. Can you ladies clue me in on what I should have at home?
Avatar f tn It is not generally prescribed for short-term use. Inhaled steroids carry substantial risk, especially for children. Ask about alternative treatments if the xopenex is not sufficiently helpful..
1315759 tn?1274044788 I have the albuterol for both, flovent,& advair. I take the albuterol & flovent inhalers 4 times a day plus the machine.Advair twice. But I still have flair ups & when I do the best thing I have fond for me & my grandson is taking a very hot pot of water of the stove putting it on the floor under us. Then take a towel or blanket cover our head so we can get the stem from the water. I know that's an old thing but it works so well to brake up stuff in between meds.
312330 tn?1245176752 Are any of you taking theophylline for your asthma? If so, have you had a lot of side effects from it? My doc is considering trying this, just looking for people's experience.
1035252 tn?1427227833 I started a group specifically for the age of Newborn up to 1 year...so please feel free to join and ask any questions under the sun OR to post if you find any pertinent information (such as information from reputable sources about infant equipment safety recalls, or information about infant health and care). Also feel free to join if you're expecting or TTC and want to get in on the helpful tips before your little one gets here...
Avatar n tn 2ml is 2% of 100ml. (100ml=3.2grams.) 3.2 grams is 3,200mg. 2% of 3,200mg is 64mg. Total dose you gave him=64mg. If the toxicity level is 250mg per kilo body weight, it does sound like this is well under that.
Avatar n tn PLEASE help. My question is do you think my child's liver, kidney, or heart could be damaged? How would I know? Here is the story: Greyson had a 102 fever for four days straight with no other symptoms while we were on vacation. I called the Dr.'s office in Florida and the receptionist who answered the phone just said to give him tylenol. That is what I had been doing-it would relieve the fever for just a bit but it would shoot right back to 102 as soon as it wore off.
Avatar f tn Without coughing, the lungs would fill up with mucous and that is more dangerous as it blocks the airways and sets up the lungs for secondary infections. For most asthmatics night time is when it tends to flare up more. That is why he is coughing more at night. It will take a few days for the steroid to kick in. Just keep up with his treatments and keep an eye on his symptoms. Especially for sever shortness of breath.
Avatar n tn How long before the delivery would a woman have to stop using Tramadol that it would not show up in the baby's system?
Avatar f tn v never heard of this kind of reaction with an asthma attack, maybe someone else on the forum has experience with that. If his colour was good, then his attack probably wasn't severe. I think you're correct in that this is more likely a cardiovascular issue. I have a cousin who used to get seizures when she had extremely low blood sugar levels with her diabetes, so there are many causes for such a reaction. You probably should check it out with his doctor just to be safe.
1194973 tn?1385503904 I have a wellness pack with differentn things in it, It says children on it but is for babies also and the dosage for infants is on the bottle. All natural and ot works fast without taking them around other sick kids at the dr. OH and you need a humidifier mroe then a vaporisor. They are cool mist and do not casue mold as easy.
Avatar n tn We just got a rx but we are not sure this is safe for an infant under two years old. The side effects for long term use mention glaucoma and vision problems? Should I be concerned about this?

Avatar f tn Since returning nine months ago I have been suffering from fatigue all the time, dizziness some of the time and severe shortness of breath (with chest pain) within 5-10 minutes of playing a game (I have to come out). I've had a cardo and pulmonary stress test, and blood work. All have come back negative. Doctors say I'm in perfect physical condition, but I feel lousy. Any ideas of other avenues to consider? I really want to play soccer again.
Avatar f tn i have been using the same type of car seat i used with my single, just 2 of them. the graco infant safe seat. i bought the graco duo glider because the 2 infant car seats both fit in it at the same time. i bought another infant swing so that i have two now. i like the fisher price smart stages swing because the seat comes off the swing and you can put a twin in each seat put the seats on the floor and feed them at the same time if they want to eat together.
