920032 tn?1550680156 I don very well with the HFA versions. If you were on a dry powder, you might have been having problems with the milk by products in them keeping your peak flow down. My guess would be that your current phlegm problem is from the inflammation and asthma even though your peak flows are improving. If you aren't working with your dr to reduce your steroid use, you should really see your asthma doctor to make sure that your asthma is not flaring.
Avatar m tn my doctor prescribed me "proair hfa albuterol sulfate", "atrovent hfa ipratropium bromide , and "qvar beclomethasone diproionate hfa" will this go away on its own eventually?
959034 tn?1253671476 I take Prednisone, Symbicort, and Theo-Dur all daily. I use my ProAir only as needed. Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Advair for many years now, and I believe it is affecting my vocal chords. I am a singer, and I always have to clear my throat, and am always raspy. Does advair dry out vocal chords? Is there a better option that can help me breathe, but also still sing?
1763947 tn?1334055319 When I went to refill my inhalers the pharmacist said I was taking two inhalers that have steroids in them and that most all people take only 1 of those. I am taking Symbacort,, Asmanex twisthaler and xopenex HFA as a rescue. I am moving soon to FL and have only been in Texas for 10 months. I will see a pulmanary doc when I get to FL but meanwhile has anyone been told this about steroids and or have any suggestions? I see my PCP tomorrow hopefully for the last time before I leave.
290867 tn?1333569278 ve ever experienced (i have it) or heard of. It does however sound a lot like sleep apnea. My grandfather had it and he frequently woke up with the symptoms you have described. ANYONE of ANY AGE can have apnea. I would talk to your doctor about getting an in home apnea test. They bring out a monitor that you put on yourself before bed. just little patches connected to wires that stick to your chest.
Avatar f tn No one believes me when i say i can't breath, they keep saying i have anxiety, even thought i took an asthma test and i supposedly have borderline asthma so my doctor gave me advair to take 4 times a day, and it feels like its made everything worse, and its just been harder to breath, and i just took like 3 puffs and i still am having the worst time breathing ive ever had, and my mom wont take me to the hospital she just tells me its anxiety and its not!!!!
Avatar n tn I had just filled the inhaler (ProAir HFA) at CVS so I figured I would try it. I am so frsutrated I feel like theres nothing else I can do. It seems to work. while walking through the Mall I felt like I could breath. i felt like fresh air was getting into my chest. Its been weeks. I think it helps to open the air way but I still was coughing. Just not as much. Right now Im at home and the cough is bad again. I tried the inhaler an hour or so ago and it doesnt really seem to help.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with asthma today. This go around it started a couple of days ago with coughing at nighttime then started coughing when outside in the cool air. Last night the wheezing starting and then coughing and more wheezing this morning. He wouldn't eat, was coughing so much he vomited, and was very lethargic so I rushed him to the pediatrician. After 2 breathing treatments and a steroid shot, the doctor diagnosed him with asthma.
Avatar n tn Hello Terrikatt, It states you posted your comments 16 hours ago. I think it's time to get a second opinion. Don't know what proair is. I'm guessing it's an asthma medication. Asthma as you know can get quite serious. Perhaps you should seek medical attention for your daughter. By this I don't mean taking her back to the pediatrician. I think you might consider going to your nearest hospital and going to the emergency department.
178698 tn?1228774338 Hi Yvette, I had a pretty severe asthma attack when I was 24 weeks. I had to go to the emergency room at 1:00 am and they gave me oxygen and prvental as well as Prednisone ( serious steroid). I stayed on prednisone for two weeks then I went on advair until my DD was born. She was born very strong and healthy and she, unlike me, has no allergies so far at almost 4 year old. I was very worried about my baby and the prednisone, but they needed to get me and keep me breathing.
Avatar n tn Is there a significant difference between using an albuterol inhaler as opposed to a Combivent inhaler? I have a family member that receives an extra monthly Combivent inhaler but am not sure if it is safe to use long term instead of the albuterol I was prescribed.
Avatar m tn Xray for the sinus and chest were also ordered which resulted to bilateral nasal congestion and clear chest. The problem is, I have been experiencing symptom of dizziness. Its been a month now and I could not take it anymore. As if I am floating always. Please, could you help me with my concern?. . Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn ve lived in the same town my whole life and no change in living conditions. My doctor prescribed me Pro Air HFA. Immediately I was using it more than the recommended amounts. It makes me very jittery and makes my hands shake. When I came in I was told to keep using it and then prescribed Qvar. The Qvar gave me debilitating headaches. I've since stopped taking both but the headaches and shaking still continue.
212161 tn?1599427282 i have the xopenex hfa 45mcg one and she just gave me the flovent 110 i have not got filled so looks like i can use either right. tanks again you dont know how releif i feel.
Avatar f tn COPD Fev 45-50% , have been on Flovent,/Spiriva/ Proair 10 years and am sensitive to medications. I dont smoke. Have had increasingly reactive airways for 3 years, had first Dxed exacerbation last fall triggered by woodsmoke. No congestion and did not take antibiotics. Pulmo said airways 'sounded just like asthma' but do not have that Dx. Airways felt raspy, swollen, inflamed. Have slowly recovered on a higher dose of Flovent.
Avatar f tn For 6 mths. after diagnosis, I did have insurance. So, I was prescribed Advair, Spiriva and ProAir. While having insurance, I did get a second opinion on the COPD by a pulmonary doctor as well. But, between my family doctor and the pulmonary doctor, I was prescribed these meds for my COPD. Three months after being on all these meds, I spent the sickest winter of my life. Pneumonia, bronchitis and pleurisy. I had never had pneumonia in my life. And the pleurisy lasted 3 long painful months.
Avatar f tn Oh yes I have very bad asthma. I have rescue inhaler and a controlled inhaler, proair and dulera. I had to really use my inhaler around 16-25 weeks... I would feel short winded.it's fine. My doctor me it's safe as long as I'm getting oxygen and my baby is getting oxygen there's actual limit.
Avatar m tn The medicines used can be asthalin, trebutaline, steroids, ipratropium bromide, and chromolyn sodium amongst a few options available. You will have to keep the house, bed linen etc dust free. Check for molds at home—under sink, bathroom, toilets, drains, damp wall, under carpets etc. Mold spores can make asthma worse. Special masks are available in the market to take care of dust and pollens. HEPPA filters can be installed at home to take care of the allergens.
746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort has a counter, too. When it gets to the yellow area time to refill prescription...haha. I've also had problems because my Proair was low. I agree that rescue inhalers should have counters...people don't have running tallies in their head as to how much they've used. If Symbicort and Advair have them, I don't see why Proair, Proventil, etc can't. It doesn't make sense to me, either.
Avatar f tn i have been battling strange behavior from my body. in my condo, i have two AC units on the roof of the building. one AC controls the Bedroom, bathroom and the other one controls the livingroom area. at one time i could not walk from the bedroom to the livingroom area unless i stopped to catch my breath. i recently found that pigeons were nesting in my bedroom AC unit. i have taken care of that problem. the guys said it was at least 30lbs shoveled from the unit. i can now walk more freely.
Avatar f tn In July I thought I was having allergy problems. Turned out to be pneumonia. I thought I was ok after meds. Then I had a really bad asthma attack. I did not know what was happening. Really bad coughing and hard to breathe. Went to ER and they gave me breathing meds. I saw an allergist yesterday and he put me on Adviair and Proair. I haven't had the Proair prescriptioin filled yet as I still have proventil. Sorry to ramble on.
Avatar m tn We had to take my son to the emergency room yet again last night and received some disturbing news. If you’re not familiar with the original post… I have pasted it below. The emergency physician that we saw last night just happened to be a pulmonologist. The doctor told me that the cough that Chase has had for the past four months is not real and that it is all in his head… sort of like a tick. He explained that Chase was not doing this on purpose, but that “it’s not a real cough”!
Avatar m tn A lot of people have complained about the inhalers since they changed the ingriedients because of environmental factors, what a joke, there was Absolutely NO need to do that, there reasoning makes no sence at all! Why Was Albuterol Changed From a CFC to an HFA Propellant? Hydrofluoroalkane, or HFA, inhalers use a different form of propellant compared to the older CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) inhalers. CFCs have been found to damage the ozone layer and cause other environmental problems.
