aggrenox

Avatar m tn I have been taking a baby aspirin for some years and subsequently had a stroke/ruptured aneurysm and TIA recently. The doctor prescribed Aggrenox and I take it twice a day.
Avatar f tn I suffered a mild stroke (blood clot) Consultant prescribed Clopidogrel but cannot tolerate side effects. Then consultant prescribed Dipyridamole. I cannot tolerate this either. Severe headache, vomiting and diarrhoea. Has anybody got a different medication they are on?
1013028 tn?1250923267 Aggrenox (aspirin/extended-release dipyridamole) is indicated to reduce the risk of stroke in patients who have had transient ischemia of the brain or completed ischemic stroke due to thrombosis. Though the drugs of choice for a lupus anticoagulant are heparin and warfarin (coumadin), Plavix may be administered additionally to prevent arterial thrombotic episodes. Aggrenox has the same action as Coumadin.
Avatar f tn by Jill Bolte Taylor, a brain scientist who experienced a stroke and documented the experience and her 8-year recovery in detail. My mother recently had a major stroke and my family has just started the book. We've already come across many passages that describe emotions and reactions our mom is having to a tee. You can see a video of Dr. Taylor talking about her experience and her book here: http://www.****.
Avatar m tn - Should this isotope testing be done after catheterization? What new infromation could be gained from that? - Since adenosine or dobutamine be used as stimulants, what kind of danger could it be? I read some articles on PubMed saying that adenosine/dobutamine can cause things from AV block to ventricular fibrillation.
1588890 tn?1297073916 I am worried about the clotting factor due to the fact I have had one TIA (mini stroke) and then another one that was not so mini! The phlebotomy seems so primitive, like leaching, but if it works,...... I truly believe that the old herb, root, leaves remedies are much better for us than the chemicals stuffed into our bodies. Can anyone give me some info on this.
Avatar f tn Persantine is dipyridamole, but you will have to get extended release tablets as the two asprin and dipyridamole should not be taken together. Don’t change the medications without discussing with your doctor. So, consult him and then decide. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn What is nonreversible apical inferior wall and what does it mean when they say no dipyridamole-induced reversible ischemia .there is mild defect in the apical inferior wall that is not reversible at rest.
Avatar n tn Some of the alternatives include aspirin, Clopidogrel (Plavix), ticlodipine (Ticlid), dipyridamole (Persantine). Another alternative is Heparin injection. Different situations require different levels of anticoagulation. It is important to discuss the best treatment option with a physician.
Avatar n tn ECG last month showed SVES, RBBB. This week he has stress test with dipyridamole protocol, and injection of thallium-201. The result showed "evidence of mild, small to medium size, irreversible perfusion defect in the inferior/inferolateral wall (mid to basal level)." Could you explain what this means? Does he need to have surgery or pacemaker? thanks in advance for your help.
Avatar m tn I looked at the package and ASASANTIN is a brand name for DIPYRIDAMOLE/ASPIRIN. Thought I would clarify that.
Avatar f tn This prevents blood flow to the heart or brain and causes a heart attack or stroke. Aspirin therapy reduces the clumping action of platelets — possibly preventing heart attack and stroke. Both medications affect platelette formation (anti-coagulant). The sensitivities of the patient are the considrations for which to use. I don't believe either anti-coangulants thin the blood...according to my doctor.
Avatar n tn While myocardial perfusion imaging greatly enhances the sensitivity and specificity of exercise testing, false positive and negative results are known to occur. False negative imaging is especially common when exercise is submaximal or in dipyridamole/adenosine studies of patients with severe obstructions of all three major coronary vessels. False positive scanning may be caused by signal attenuation from an elevated left hemidiaphragm or from breast tissue.

Avatar m tn Reversible perfusion defect is an area of the heart muscle that does not receive an adequate amount of blood at stress (ischemia) but does so at rest (reversible ischemia). Here the muscle can be saved and the areas identified are infero-septal and apical segment. After identifying the defects a cardiac catheterization helps to study the arterial structure of the heart and to identify the blocks for further therapy. So, your doctor may next ask for cardiac catheterization.
Avatar n tn Do go see your Doctor, Dont panic and go to the ER! i suffer from migraines also and get Aura beforehand and numbness during, this is not a stroke but another cruel symptom of Migraines :( its also extremely common for migraines to affect one side of your head! Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn t know anything about lupus and any of your other problems. But I did have a stroke, so I know about that. Your pins and needles and heaviness could possibly from your stroke. I don't want to say that it is, but I believe that it could be if you cannot get an answer from a doctor. I know a stroke survivor that had 4 strokes 8 years ago and she still has physical problems, like sudden pains. Just odd things that doctors ignore.
Avatar m tn He evaluated the association between coffee drinking and stroke by looking at data from the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, taken in 1988-94. He zeroed in on the 9,384 adults older than 40 who were coffee drinkers. Of those, 500 (5 percent) had been told by their doctor that they'd had a stroke. And 2,793 (29.8 percent) had self-reported stroke symptoms or a mini-stroke, also known as a transient ischemic attack.

Avatar f tn t eat, being that she was a diabetic, eventually causing her to go into a coma and die or does the stroke itself do something like hinder her from breathing . Was there something that made her stop breathing because of the stroke itself? She was getting something through an IV but I'm sure there wasn't much nourishment there. I guess I'm hoping that she didn't starve to death although she passed a week after she had the stroke.
Avatar n tn Yes a person can get a stroke from too much Morphine...I am a R.N. and work with stroke victims , Look up water shed strokes...
Avatar f tn See your doctor. You want to rule out things like stroke, MS, etc I would only take Tylenol for the pain until I made sure that this wasn't stroke related. Aspirin and ibuprofen can thin your blood. If it is stroke related and the stroke is caused by a bleed, you could make it worse.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with BPH a year ago and was given Flomax. I had to go to Iceland and forgot my Flomax. My friend was taking a local product available over the counter called SAGAPRO made from a herb called Angelica. I used it and to my suprise...it worked. It even works better than Flomax! Do you know why this herb is so good for the prostate? Are their any side effects....I have noticed I am breathing better and also sleeping better. I have not used my inhaler since I have been on the sagapro.
2030194 tn?1329190785 That means you have a 1/3 chance of a full stroke in the near future. And if you had a moderate eschemic stroke, you still have a fairly high chance of having another stroke. Strokes are nothing to fool around with.
Avatar f tn I had a mild stroke on Jan 10, 2013 I have had severe dizzines and balance problems since the stroke happend I wanted to know if anyone has had these syptoms after a stroke and if so how long do they last mine has been going on since I had my stroke. Avatar f tn The pain is a mixture of sensations, including heat and cold, burning, tingling, numbness, and sharp stabbing and underlying aching pain. It is intense in the area affected by the stroke, such as the face, extremities or trunk on one side, and is made worse by movement and temperature changes, especially cold temperatures." https://www.ninds.nih.gov/health-information/disorders/stroke What kind of rehabilitation therapy does he do? Physical or occupational therapy?
Avatar n tn I would wonder about using blood thinners (even aspirin) when systolic is as high as 190 and might spike higher than that - for fear of a hemorrhagic stroke or retinal or kidney damage etc what could be causing both BP and HR to go high? I suppose you'd think of adrenalin. Maybe it's an unususal type of pheochromocytoma, which in its typical form is rare enough.
