i have a arachnoid cyst in my brain..and i need to get spinal anesthesia for my csection...since the spinal meds are injected into the spinal fluid....what could it do to the cyst in my head?
When I had my cysts removed via laparotomy, they had planned to do a total hysterectomy and spinal anesthesia is common for hysterectomies. I believe that standard anesthesia is used but is inserted through an epidural in your spine. Afterwards this is left in place for a bit and your pain medications are fed through it. They will keep close attention and continually test your freezing with cold. I had an epidural with my son and this did feel differently.
I am a doctor mysf and have been getting urethral dilatation under local anesthesia(lignocaine gel) for over 3 yrs. the only time spinal block was used was when i was having my first dilatation done.It is a bit more painful and difficult but better than getting anesthesia all the time which has its own drawbacks.

- Since adenosine or dobutamine be used as stimulants, what kind of danger could it be? I read some articles on PubMed saying that adenosine/dobutamine can cause things from AV block to ventricular fibrillation.

Spinal tap. Administered in OR catheter put in after numb. All I know is I had allergic reaction too the spinal tap ended up needing benadryl.
I am a 45 F and had a TKR two months ago. I had spinal anesthesia and was also "out" during the surgery. I was catheterized during the surgery until the following morning. I have had ongoing issues with my leg, EMG/NCS last week were positive for significant femoral nerve damage (possibly from the tourniquet??), as well as being "positive" in my spine - although that doctor did not explain about my spine and my f/u with my OS is tomorrow.
You don't get an epidural usually with an elective c-section, it's just a spinal which is just a shot. General anesthesia isn't recommend as it effects the baby, and more recovery issues.

Persantine is dipyridamole, but you will have to get extended release tablets as the two asprin and dipyridamole should not be taken together. Don’t change the medications without discussing with your doctor. So, consult him and then decide.

WHAT KIND OF ANESTHESIA SHE UNDERWENT DURING OPERATION WAS IT SPINAL (MEANS LOCAL INJECTION IN THE SPINAL CORD) OR WAS IT A GENERAL ANESTHESIA. THE 1ST TYPE MAY CAUSE SUCH A THING BUT IT IS A TEMPORARY TRANSIENT EFFECT AND AFTER SOME TIME IT WILL RESOLVE SPONTANEOUSLY HOPFULLY.

Okay so my c section is tomorrow and I made a mistake of looking up complications for spinal anesthesia...one thing that can go wrong is that it can paralyze the top as well and affect breathing. :( I'm so scared, you guys!!!
