Hi to everyone. Hope a dermatologist, doctor or anyone can help me with my question. Does Diovan cause cellulitis? or does it make it worst when you already have it?

Instructions for Viagra, Cialis, etc. say not to take w/ BP meds. I'm thinking there are a cpl possibilities. Diovan (Valsartan) is available in different doses (20 mg, 40 mg, etc.), so maybe you could take a lower dose on the day you'll be using Viagra. Or possibly just skip your usual dose that day, then resume the next. However, your Dr. may not agree. I think the best strategy is to ask your Dr. about using these 2 drugs at the same time.

I'm taking 80 mg of Diovan (Valsartan). My kidney doctor prescribed this knowing of my liver issues and he did do some research to determine a medication that was 'easier' on the liver.

I have had an heart failure due to high chotesterol so I am on medication for Hipertension/ High Cholesterol. I recent weeks after I start using Co-Diovan 160/12.5 mg in place of Hyzar I am experiencing a gradual tightening in the upper chest toward the neck/throat and it is as if i may stop breathing? I am not sure if the change in medication has anything to do with it! I use to to exercise for about 30 min. or more each day, I can do only 2-3 mins. and with great difficulty?

Ironically I was forced into taking generic Toprol in May and the Imdur is generic also. Monday my PCP started me taking 60mg imdur (generic) with 320 mg Diovan at bedtime. It has had no impact on BP readings in the AM. Mid-morning I take 200 mg metropolol w/30 mg of generic imdur. Readings will be between 140s to 150s in the afternoon. It's very discouraging.

I am taking the generic of Diovan 160 mg. I was thinking of trying bystolic, but I have heard that it was expensive.

Do you mean Metoprolol? This is the generic Toprol medication all are slow release, SL as far as I know. But, you may be talking about something else. I respond because I have been on both Toprol and Metoprolol for periods of time, the latest has been about a year now. My dose has been much higher, as high as 200 mg a day (2x100mg). While this has given me undesirable side effects I am not aware of one being depression. I've read the warnings, maybe I've overlooked.

-( 3 days on valsartan and I was having horrible side effects of dizziness, rapid heart rate, general feeling of crappiness, even slight shortness of breath with the slightest exertion None of which I experienced with the benazepril. Called the dr, he told me to stop the valsartan, don't take anything for 2 days and then back on the benazepril and see him next week.

My new VA doctor wants to change one of my blood pressure medications from 160 mg of Valsartan 2 times per day to an equivalent dose of 100 mg of Losartan but only once per day. I am so confused because I have too many issues that can cause the same symptoms. Recently, my doctor switched me from Valsartan HCTZ to Hydrochlorothiazide plus regular Valsartan for my blood pressure. When I first started it, right away I was having rapid heart beat and shortness of breath so he told me take potassium supplements. That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium.

I've taken Valsartan since 2010 successfully. It controls my BP well.

my toes and lower legs are feeling numb. I tried metoprol and diovan hct and although by bp is in the normal range my heart rate is elevated unless I continue on the cardizem cd. Is there another medication that I can discuss with my cardiologist to replace the cardizem cd that will keep my heart rate in the normal range? I feel I've got to withdraw from the cardizem as the side effects seem to be progressing the longer I use the medication.

I have a @uestion please : After 6years on Toprol xl and Diovan , my Doctor switched me to another medication - verapamill and maxide - iv taken these before and had problems with them both !! fact is the verapamill ccb caused palpatations. and I was put on a beta blocker from that point on.. as to stop the palps and control the b.p. / the Toprol xl and diovan both lowered b.p well and stopped the palps for me.. but iv been living life in pain and suffering for 6years now..

my dad had a triple bypass last apr 21. last saturday, jul 4/2009 he started on diovan 160/12.5 (from corvesy+) and since Sat he's been experiencing chest pains that is not going away. is this a side effect? is he allergic to the this new med he's taking or is this angina? should he get himself to an ER?

I almost cried because I am 46 and I feel I am way too young for this! He put me on Valsartan (generic), 40 mg twice a day. I started them yesterday and my bp in the morning was 130/94 and in the early afternoon it was actually 126/86. I was so excited.....then this morning it was 140/93, but that was my second reading. How long does it usually take for the medication to really start taking effect? I am becoming very depressed and anxious as to why I can NOT get this under control.

My medication is Diovan 160mg and 12.5 mg valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide. And yes this was a typo should read 121/71 This whole thing drive me crazy---- blood pressure keeps going down as I further into the squash game --- then I get dizzy.......

I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.

I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.
