Diovan kidney problems

Common Questions and Answers about Diovan kidney problems

diovan

Avatar f tn My question is could this be the result of the CVID? My PP reduced my Diovan HCL 160 to Diovan 80 to see if that was the problem. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn I take 40 mg. of Lisinopril twice per day; Diovan 320mg - twice per day and Clonidine HCL 0.2 mg at bedtime. My Nephrologist wants me to take the Clonidine in the mornings also, but I cannot function - I am too dizzy and weak. I have had a stent placed in the artery leading to my left kidney and my pressure has gotten higher.
10483820 tn?1410466172 Currently maxed out on Diovan and Toprol. Experiencing from 170/79 to 192/90 readings in mornings. My PCP has added Imdur: 2/ 30mg @ night with 320 mg Diovan; and 1/ 30mg Imdur with 200mg Toprol in the morning. I have a 45 year history of valvular heart desease having had 4 open heart surgeries starting at age 28. Resulting in 2 mechanical valves and a pacemaker. Believe me, I am not complaining and feel pretty good.
Avatar m tn Adrenal gland problems are the other cause. Cushing’s syndrome should be looked for. The kidney function too should be assessed. Late night snacking and poor sleep too can cause weight gain. Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.Take care!
Avatar m tn This medication works by forcing more water extraction from the blood, basically making you urinate much more to keep a lower volume of blood in the body. Is this because you have kidney problems? This medication can cause inflammation of the throat and/or airways so it may be the cause of your symptoms. I would speak to your GP and talk about changing to a more commonly used blood pressure medication if possible. Drugs like Ramapril or verapamil are widely used and are ace inhibitors.
422425 tn?1307992990 Also kidney problems like renal tubular acidosis and kidney failure, magnesium deficiency, leukemia, alkalosis (?), and the use of steroids and insulin. Does any of these apply to your situation. I found this on web MD.
406399 tn?1201884300 I havent posted here for a time, and was on Toprol xl also and DIovan drove me nuts for years!!!! I had so meny problems on that stuff- I was a walking zombie. I like you found a New Doctor and he switched me off the toprol xl /Diovan cold turkey!! onto the same meds as you, however I want you to know, I had withdrawal symptoms daily nightly for over 2 weeks! its no fun! no joy ride ! so expect some problems to happen while switching meds. Toprol is a nastybad drug to take!
Avatar f tn re question, It took me 5 years to get to stage 5, so you can probable live that long anyway. One of the problems is, kidney failure affects your blood pressure, so you might just have a stroke. I was in I.C.U. for a week because my blood pressure was so high, they thought I might stroke out. I realize it's your decision, but I suggest you might be better off getting treatment. "just my opinion" :-) It's a nasty way to go.
Avatar f tn Been having problems with my blood pressure. I was wondering if theres a certain med for this that's safer for the liver. Any info appreciated.
343006 tn?1314446471 I was slowly weened off Toprol xl and Diovan - about 8 months ago - and put on ccb -verapamil and dieretic maxzide iv been on them for about 4 months - and have been having problems, such as ankles swelling. and closeing throat when eatting! as well bloating belly conditions. over the past month iv noticed my face is always red in color. and my left eye has been twitching off and on.. Avatar m tn I am taking 160 mg Diovan for high blood pressure, as well as 20 mg Levostatin for high cholesterol. I believe that I have ed caused by the Diovan. Is it safe to take ed drugs as well?
Avatar f tn He stopped them because they interfered with his love life if you know what I mean. Problem is his kidneys were then destroyed and he was on dialysis for ages until he got a kidney transplant. Happy ending, right? No, that kidney failed, he was on dialysis again for years until he got another kidney. Ouch. Now he takes lots of pills every day instead of his one little blood pressure pill. Not a good trade in my opinion.
Avatar n tn Ultrasound is the testing modality but it has to be ordered by stating what problem is being evaluated to get the correct information. A general ultrasound for kidney disease may look only at kidney size while a vascular ultrasound for RAS evaluates velocity within the renal arteries as well as resistance within the blood vesses and a renal artery to aortic velocity ratio.

Avatar m tn The only thing the ct showed was a hemangioma on my L2 vertebrae. I am on diovan hct for blood pressure and simvastatin for cholesterol. My vision has even changed a little bit in my right eye. What can be causing these weird spasms and are they dangerous?
1346429 tn?1303874854 Do any of you ladies have BP problems? Are you taking Aldomet? Are you having any side effects? Are you on a different med? Has your OB talked to you about C-Section?
Avatar f tn I am also taking diovan 80.12.5 once a day. I would like to get off this medication as it is making me very sluggish and tired all the time. How do I wean off this medicine as I am only taking it for one month.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you have taken control, thats great. Keep up the good work. You should be proud of yourself. If your blood sugar gets down around 70 you can get shaky and not feel well and perspire, then its time for a glass of juice with a bit of sugar in it. You need to eat small meals more frequent. Watch those carbohydrates. Good luck and keep walking. Better for you to control IT than IT to control you.
Avatar f tn I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
Avatar f tn I have a fasting blood glucose level of 101 and 102 for several years now and have been taking diovan hct and excedrin. I know these drugs have the ability to raise blood sugar readings. Should I be concerned about these readings? If I get off these drugs will my levels return to normal?
Avatar m tn I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.
Avatar m tn AFIB is a serious condition, and it is good news for you that your heart is beating normally now. Amiodarone is a very effective drug to get the heart beating normally, but it isn't so much a question if the patient will experience a side effect, its a question of which side effect. The big danger with AFIB is that it will result in a stroke, and the danger of stroke trumps the side effect matter...
