Diflucan with probiotics

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan with probiotics

diflucan

Avatar f tn You may already know this -- If you are taking bacteria-based probiotics (like acidophilus), the antibiotics will kill the (good bacteria) probiotics along with the (bad bacteria) Lyme if they are taken too close together in time. How close is too close I don't know. My LLMD insisted on patients taking Florastor, which is a yeast-based probiotic not affected by antibiotics.
Avatar m tn I just went to the Doctor yesterday and confirmed via swab that I still have yeast. I still have rawness in 1 spot/ some anal itching. I've used 14 days clotrimazole, 4 doses diflucan, and now 7 days terazol. The doctor told me to do 1 more dose terazol and diflucan once a week. I don't think this will solve anything. I'm sure as soon as i stop the terazol it will come right back. BTW, I use student health services and although she is an MD, she is not a gyno. Any advice?
Avatar n tn Talk to your doc about starting to supplement with probiotics now, so that you don't end up with a bacterial skewing problem such as C. diff after taking antibiotics for prolonged periods of time. The probiotics will hopefully also help to swing your system back toward 'normal' levels of good flora.

Avatar f tn about right after that i was dx w vaginal candida yeast infection (rarely itching/burning, mainly just the discharge)-my dr treated me with diflucan. it never went away. since then i have been to my gyno who cultured my yeast infection and said best medication for it was diflucan, so he also prescribed me to diflucan for 7 days-never went away. then he again prescribed me diflucan 150 once for 3 weeks. never went away!!!
1654058 tn?1407159066 I've been using Nystatin miracle mouth off n on for months. I use Monostat even on the corners of my mouth w great success. Til now. Arch!!! Driving me crazy n painful to eat. Whattamess. Do you think Dr will call in Diflucan? I'm gonna try tomorrow. 37th peg shot w 11 to go this week. I feel like I'm just breaking down.
Avatar m tn You can try some saltwater gargles and probiotics. If your thrush persists, call your doctor for some Diflucan.
Avatar f tn I took diflucan a couple times with my first pregnancy but it was later in pregnancy. I got a yeast infection with my second pregnancy very early on. They didnt want me to talk diflucan that early. I am the same way as u. Nothing works but diflucan for me. so i know how u feel.
Avatar f tn Okay I've had yellow discahrge and burning since last July. I've been tested for STI's all were negative. Well last Friday my girlfriend took me to the hospital because of the burning and the pain the hospital tested for trich yeast gonherra and chlymidia. They said it was all negative and sent me home. Well I went to my gyno Tuesday and she checked me for yeast and said I had a horrible yeast infection that I had to have for months.
Avatar f tn Need to rant lol I'm so frustrated! In the beginning of my pregnancy, I was diagnosed with bv, and was treated for it...and ever since I got treated I've gotten yeast infections every few weeks...today I was diagnosed with chronic yeast and put on a new med to help it...if that doesnt work, she's going to put me on diflucan for a couple weeks...its been so rough! This is my 4th one in 20 weeks and I'm so sick of them...
Avatar m tn ve had chronic yeast infections (4-6 a year) for about 3 years now. 2 years ago my doctor prescribed Diflucan and it worked well for a while (cleared up the infection right away). About 8 months ago the Diflucan stopped being as effective, and I would have to take one 150mg pill then followed by another 150mg pill 3 days later. For the past 6 months I've had a yeast infection that has not really gone away. I have relief for a couple days to a week max and then the symptoms returned.
Avatar n tn With yeast it would be stark white colored and if you scrape it off with a tongue scraper or toothbrush with the tongue cleaner on the back side it would be red and may bleed. I have a coated tongue for a couple of weeks too but mine is not yeast. Try gargling with salt water several times a day and see if it helps. Also difulcan if you have yeast. I would see a doctor about the white 1 cm thing to make sure it isn't something serious. They can then tell you if you have yeast.
Avatar m tn ve found it increasingly difficult to find other men who have experienced genital recurring yeast infections. I was wondering if anyone who has had experience with such things have any good suggestions on how to cure and prevent recurring yeast infections? I've tried months of applying 2% Ketoconazole cream, 14 day regimen of 200mg Fluconazole, Lotrimin AF, applying yogurt, acidopholous, garlic extract, and cranberry juice. What has worked for you?
Avatar n tn The following day I had a pelvic exam with my gyno and she gave me another diflucan to take a few days later and some antibiotics to take after so I could clear up a possible bacterial infection. Month passes and I'm finally feeling back to normal I'm having sex with my boyfriend aand everything feels great...until I get my period again. My tampons are itchy around my vulva and irritate me. (they're unscented).
Avatar f tn I take probiotics. I recently found a relatively high strain of probiotics that I am taking and it seems to be getting better. I am taking that along w femanol. I hope with time my body bounces back to normal. Its been quite a journey.
Avatar f tn I tried 2 of 3 days of an otc yeast medicine and had my doctor call in 1 pill of diflucan all with no relief. I also recently washed all of my underwear in a hypoallergenic detergent and still nothing. Can someone point me in the direction of what it could be? I'm not sure I can wait til Monday to see a doctor!
Avatar m tn My head and legs were hurting so bad. Then I was treated with diflucan and later nystatin too. I have bumps on my tongue and on the side of it. Also, under my tongue small white bumps with a couple of water blister looking bumps. I have thick mucus. I have a blister in the roof of my mouth. My diflucan was increased recently to 400mg per day. I took them until the inside of my legs felt blistered. They did nothing to help with my mouth. My tongue burns.
1472764 tn?1287588186 Probiotics are good to take when you are having to take antibiotics...they help maintain balance so you don't get things like yeast infections. The can help keep your intestineal flaura balanced and it wouldn't hurt. Unfortunately, not only are you prone to getting yeast infections...you are also pregnant (which tends to lead to yeast infections)...and weren't you on antibiotics recently? Does your doctor know that it usually takes a couple rounds to get rid of your yeast?
1142929 tn?1271622835 What you need to do now, is to let your body heal and restore its natural balance. I encourage women to use probiotics and/or yogurt with live cultures of lactobacillus. I also encourage them to use vegetable shortening (Crisco) topically for relief of symptoms. I know this sounds crazy, but it helps! If I hear more about this syndrome, or how to cure it, I will definitely post an article! Until then, this is the best I have to offer. Good luck!
2118271 tn?1337463104 I have a white coating on my tongue that mostly went away on Diflucan but has since slowly made its return back. Most of it brushes off, but more and more its staying there since the Diflucan. And brain fog... Is this anxiety? Am i just over worrying about something? I read about candida online but then the doctor says it can't be that. What are your thoughts? Going crazy!!!
Avatar f tn Hm - have you tried taking probiotics? You can get much higher doses of probiotics when taking a supplement than you can get in commercial yogurts. If you try, make sure you read up on them a little bit. Some brands don't contain the number of active cultures they claim to contain. A lot of times, you need to take one that requires refrigeration. There are several shelf-stable varieties; I've taken Pearls and have read good things about them. Hope that helps!
Avatar n tn So, this all started with a yeast infection. I had some pretty typical symptoms, went to the doc, who diagnosed by my description of symptoms. Did a urine test for STDs (chlamydia, gonnehrea) all negative. He prescribed Diflucan and gave me 2 pills. I took the first one and the symptoms got a lot better. Then (my thought is it wasn't fully healed) after sex it returned. So I took another Diflucan, everything seemed cool. Then I got a really bad cold and was prescribed a Z pack. Surprise!
Avatar f tn I will ask about the diflucan. I ran out to GNC and bought probiotics. The guy steered me to the highest level (75 billion) which of course was also the costliest. He said there were no problems with getting too much, which I found out very quickly was not altogether true. One dose and I lost a pound in a very unpleasant way. haha. I will wait on the doctor before trying anything else.
Avatar f tn ve tried everything. Probiotics, yougurt, changed toilet paper, only washed with mild soap, etc. I changed my whole routine. Vinegar douches and baths only give me temporary relief. Also I used monistat one last time after the antibiotics since some can give u a yeast infection. I went back o the doc the other day but she said my pH was off and to just use vagisil feminine wash and sit in vinegar baths. And if I wanna go see my gyno I have to wait a few months cus she has a dull schedule.
Avatar f tn You can use a cream or pessary ie clotrimazole (Canesten) or take a single dose tablet ie fluconazole (Diflucan). At the same time you might want to take some probiotics to help recolonise the good bacteria in your gut.
Avatar f tn I googled the solution and i found that this means a yeast infection and the treatment is diflucan 150 so i took it once, the discharge disappeared for 2 days and then came back. But i also read that if it's a yeast infection then i should feel itchy all the time. So, is that a yeast infection or what? and what is the solution??
Avatar f tn Hi bacflip, I too have been struggling with yeast for about 9 months. Have seen tons of drs, tried long-term diflucan therapy, boric acid, take probiotics, garlic capsules, various other antifungals, use 100% cotton undies, etc with constant yeast infections. No HIV no diabetes. Mine all started after a weeks worth of antibiotics...I was totally fine before this. Have you experienced any relief and/or figured out what the issue was? If so, what helped?
4451049 tn?1387153437 I just want to keep any fungal infections down. And I am taking Diflucan now, so that should help with that. Just not real sure how long I should take it for. The doctor never says.
Avatar f tn Literally done it all....diet, diflucan, all the creams. Nothing has worked and I’m beginning to truly feel defeated. I just want to feel pretty again. This almost year of a yeast infection has been the most challenging on my psych. I will say the boric acid pills helped control it to the point where I don’t have to wear a panty liner. It’s still in me though I can feel it. So itchy and gross. Not sure if I’m too hopeful because the boric acid pills I have been taking for about a month...
