Diflucan and probiotics

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan and probiotics

diflucan

Avatar f tn Your normal bacterial flora in your intestines are getting unbalanced and/or you are losing some organisms due to the antibiotics. You should start taking probiotics. This will help get your normal bacteria back. But I would ask Metametrix if it will cause any problems with their test just to be sure. Also, you can take an oral antifungal but I wouldn't recommend it because they have bad side effects.
Avatar m tn I just went to the Doctor yesterday and confirmed via swab that I still have yeast. I still have rawness in 1 spot/ some anal itching. I've used 14 days clotrimazole, 4 doses diflucan, and now 7 days terazol. The doctor told me to do 1 more dose terazol and diflucan once a week. I don't think this will solve anything. I'm sure as soon as i stop the terazol it will come right back. BTW, I use student health services and although she is an MD, she is not a gyno. Any advice?
Avatar f tn im starting to change my diet more to eliminate yeast and sugar, and taking probiotics--but im feeling helpless and worried! any suggestions would help please, i feel like it is only getting worse...
1654058 tn?1407159066 , I had them too and at first tried the nystatin but then someone said monostat and that worked. Man what a trip this tx is. Also as OH said probiotics are good I took them as well as ate yogurt every day.
Avatar n tn Did a urine test for STDs (chlamydia, gonnehrea) all negative. He prescribed Diflucan and gave me 2 pills. I took the first one and the symptoms got a lot better. Then (my thought is it wasn't fully healed) after sex it returned. So I took another Diflucan, everything seemed cool. Then I got a really bad cold and was prescribed a Z pack. Surprise! Yeast was back. So I went to the doctor and this time they did a "wet mount" turns out I had BV and Yeast together.
Avatar m tn You can try some saltwater gargles and probiotics. If your thrush persists, call your doctor for some Diflucan.
Avatar f tn They said it was all negative and sent me home. Well I went to my gyno Tuesday and she checked me for yeast and said I had a horrible yeast infection that I had to have for months. But I've taken Diflucan many times and it didn't go away well she gave me three doses of Diflucan and a vaginal suppository with a weeks dose. I've taken it all and it refuses to go away. Can any one help? What's wrong with me?
Avatar f tn i just finished the treatment 2 days ago....and i still have it!!!!! In the past the only thing that worked for me was Diflucan.....is it safe to use at this point in my pregnancy? Or..what should i use??? I'm desperate!!! Please Help!!!! Thank You!!
Avatar f tn Hi bacflip, I too have been struggling with yeast for about 9 months. Have seen tons of drs, tried long-term diflucan therapy, boric acid, take probiotics, garlic capsules, various other antifungals, use 100% cotton undies, etc with constant yeast infections. No HIV no diabetes. Mine all started after a weeks worth of antibiotics...I was totally fine before this. Have you experienced any relief and/or figured out what the issue was? If so, what helped?
Avatar f tn Its hard not to eat at least some sugar though because of my blood sugar and I've tried the yogurt but my baby doesn't seem to like it when I eat it lol I usually end up throwing it up and throwing up yogurt is awful ): she is putting my on terazole 3 for now and if no results its diflucan again for two weeks. ...we've done diflucan several times, though and nothing yet... And its getting ridiculous!
Avatar f tn First it was a yeast infection the dictoar treated me with 2 rounds in diflucan. Before and after the treatment I used monistat. No relief. So I went to my gyno and she said the yeast was gone but I had BV. Sh gave my flafyl. Finished it but was still itching.she then prescribed me clindamycin vaginal cream.finished that and still no relief. I've tried everything. Probiotics, yougurt, changed toilet paper, only washed with mild soap, etc. I changed my whole routine.
Avatar m tn ve had chronic yeast infections (4-6 a year) for about 3 years now. 2 years ago my doctor prescribed Diflucan and it worked well for a while (cleared up the infection right away). About 8 months ago the Diflucan stopped being as effective, and I would have to take one 150mg pill then followed by another 150mg pill 3 days later. For the past 6 months I've had a yeast infection that has not really gone away. I have relief for a couple days to a week max and then the symptoms returned.
6402846 tn?1391063748 I am not really sure about yeast making Lyme symptoms worse. But I just wanted to say, when I had thrush it hurt bad. I would be more concerned with the diarrhea than I would the "white stuff" on your tongue, unless it hurts and burns. The diarrhea is not caused by fungus, but rather an imbalance of good bacteria in your intestines. When you take antibiotics, your killing both good and bad bacteria. That's why they say to take probiotics when you are on antibiotic therapy.
Avatar m tn Yeah, the Fluconazole I'm taking is just a generic brand of Diflucan. So taking a single dose of Diflucan usually gets rid of your yeast infection? Lucky, haha. I'm on day 11 right now of taking Diflucan and I can't say its doing anything. I've heard that taking probiotics while taking antibiotics is also good for avoiding yeast infections, especially Acidopholous (which is the bacteria found in yogurt naturally).
Avatar n tn With yeast it would be stark white colored and if you scrape it off with a tongue scraper or toothbrush with the tongue cleaner on the back side it would be red and may bleed. I have a coated tongue for a couple of weeks too but mine is not yeast. Try gargling with salt water several times a day and see if it helps. Also difulcan if you have yeast. I would see a doctor about the white 1 cm thing to make sure it isn't something serious. They can then tell you if you have yeast.
Avatar f tn I was put on the metro gel then developed a yeast infection, then put on diflucan. Within a week I had another BV infection. I started taking probiotics and a product called femanol, which helped keep the bacterial vaginosis at bay. However if I stop the femanol all the BV symptoms return. This July will be a full year of being on hiprex. My urologist said that they will continue to keep me on it until I decide to get pregnant. I want some insight on what I should do.
Avatar f tn I tried 2 of 3 days of an otc yeast medicine and had my doctor call in 1 pill of diflucan all with no relief. I also recently washed all of my underwear in a hypoallergenic detergent and still nothing. Can someone point me in the direction of what it could be? I'm not sure I can wait til Monday to see a doctor!
Avatar f tn but the dry mouth and white coated tongue still continuing and feel very uncomfort with mouth and throat pain..I lost my weight, swollen gland on Neck which may due to throat pain as per doctor said..at the same time before 3months I did a mistake that is licking a lady nipple for few minutes..so I thought, am at the risk of HIV.so I took rapid test after 9weeks of possible exposure..but the test result came as negative..
1472764 tn?1287588186 t want to be with my husband if I have one. What should I do? I cut out all sweets and bread and tried some probiotics. I might to the Rephresh gel again b/c its safe during pregnancy. I'm only 13 weeks.
2118271 tn?1337463104 I have a white coating on my tongue that mostly went away on Diflucan but has since slowly made its return back. Most of it brushes off, but more and more its staying there since the Diflucan. And brain fog... Is this anxiety? Am i just over worrying about something? I read about candida online but then the doctor says it can't be that. What are your thoughts? Going crazy!!!
1142929 tn?1271622835 A culture and blood test said negative for HSV1 and 2. The diflucan caused me to get a bacterial infection and then the medicine for that caused an actual yeast infection. Since then I have not felt normal. I only have relief when I have my period or for a few days when I have discharge. It's like an itchy, dry, swollen and warm feeling. I have gone back to the doctors 10 times, 2 of them were specialists. They haven't seen yeast or any kind of infection.
Avatar f tn I got my first yeast infection July 11,2015 and i've kept having on ever since. In the first months, the burning was there the whole time and after that I could use yeast infection medicine to help banish the symptoms, but they always come back. Sometimes I'll go to the doctor and there will only be a little yeast, sometimes it will be Bv and Yeast( no very freq.).
Avatar f tn For the past 6 + months i have been battlling recurrent yeast and bacterial infections. I have been on multiple doses of Diflucan, Terazol, Monistat, and clindamycin. Nothing seems to help. The doctor just says she doesnt know and prescribes something else. I am getting extremely frustrated and depressed and dont know what else to do. I tried adding a daily dose of probiotic every day (did that for several months) and that only seemed to exacerbate things.
Avatar f tn I will ask about the diflucan. I ran out to GNC and bought probiotics. The guy steered me to the highest level (75 billion) which of course was also the costliest. He said there were no problems with getting too much, which I found out very quickly was not altogether true. One dose and I lost a pound in a very unpleasant way. haha. I will wait on the doctor before trying anything else.
Avatar n tn t adequately lubricated. My OB/GYN prescribed me with Diflucan, I took the dosage and it was gone. We had sex again, yeast infection came back, got another prescription, gone again. Had sex again, it came back AGAIN but this time I went to a different OB/GYN to get a second opinion. Turns out this time I had a yeast infection AND bacterial vaginosis. At this time I went and got tested to make sure I didn't have anything and I came back all negative.
Avatar f tn Try taking probiotics and inserting one at night, into you vagina. Also google hydrogen peroxide and water douches... Good luck!!
Avatar f tn You can use a cream or pessary ie clotrimazole (Canesten) or take a single dose tablet ie fluconazole (Diflucan). At the same time you might want to take some probiotics to help recolonise the good bacteria in your gut.
Avatar n tn I tried creams and my Doc tried diflucan twice but nothing worked. I have been very stressed for the past year because of applications to grad school. I have not had sex in the past 11 months. I started taking probiotics and that started to reduce the discharge by about 80% but due to cost I have discontinued the use of them.
