1573600 tn?1301974932 Hello Dr. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I developed intense itchiness on the left side of my groin. The first time it appeared was four months ago. It went away for a while then came back early this month. The intense itchiness in the groin continued and now it's on both sides of my groin. Initially it started as a raised wrinkled bump. It is the same color as the skin around it. There are no blisters or open sores. The area becomes inflamed and thick when scratched.
Avatar f tn It is called tinea cruris and tinea capitis. When ringworm infects the area between the toes, it is called tinea capitis. When it affects the pubic region it is called tinea cruris. When it affects the scalp, it is called tinea capitis. It is all the same. Only, the ringworm that infects the scalp lives inside the hair shafts and can't be treated topically. For the feet and pubic region, the best product is topical Lamisil.
Avatar m tn i recently went to the doctor to have a rash on my inner thigh treated, which he says was tinea cruris or jock itch from working in 95 degree weather all day. however, i have noticed that i also have a lot of colorless bumps on the lower to mid shaft of my penis. they arent painful and have never blistered but could it possibly be herpes?
Avatar m tn I'm a 25 year old male, and I believe that in December I have caught some kind of a yeast (or bacterial?) infection after repeatedly having protected sex with a 21 year old female (we were seeing each other regularly during December) — it first started affecting my balls and then in mid-January the irritation seemed to have moved more to the penis. I've never had unprotected sex.
Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be due to tinea cruris which is a fungal infection of the groins. Keep the area dry and after washing also dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwear and change them twice a day and do not share other people’s towels.
Avatar m tn Excessive sweating can cause skin problems and probably you are suffering from a fungal infection of the scrotal skin called Tinea Cruris. Wearing light and cotton clothes, taking cool refreshing baths and avoiding strenuous activities can be helpful. If you are overweight lose weight. Excess fat causes sweating and oilier skin. Oral therapy may be necessary if the skin infection is intractable.

A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp skin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Avatar f tn A couple days later my scrodum became very red and inflamed. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with “Tinea cruris “ Recently I’ve felt a tingling/mild burning feeling followed by a couple red small pimple like bumps that have popped up around my frenulum/underneath urethra and penis hole. I’m not sure if they’ve already been there or not. It’s not painful just uncomfortable. And it doesn’t always tingle or burn unless it rubs against my underwear or I mess with it.

Avatar f tn You must get an allergy test done, either a skin test or RAST, to know what you are allergic to. Fungal infections like tinea corporis and tinea cruris too cause whole body itching along with genital itching. Liver problems too can cause generalized itching. Worms are another cause of both anal and body itch. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Treatment for tinea cruris is antifungal drugs(topical and oral) and lichen planus is steroids, retinoids, hydroquinone and phototherapy. You should get it evaluated from a dermatologist. Avatar n tn Sounds like you could have a urinary tract infection or possibly jock itch (a fungal infection caused by tinea cruris). I'm not really sure of what causes pelvic pain in men. However, the only way to be sure is to get an accurate diagnosis by a health care provider.
Avatar m tn Yes, symptom wise, it does sound like jock itch (or Tinea cruris infection/sometimes also caused by candida). Though it is called jock itch, it may not itch always. Usually a reddish rash or area of darkened or tanned skin appears on penis/scrotum/groin fold/adjacent thighs. This is often accompanied by a burning or tingling sensation.
