Hi, I have been using differin every alternate nights for 3 months without problems. But just last sun, I rubbed some onto my eyelids and facial rashes started to explode. They were not itchy at first but started to spread and becoming very itchy. My Gp said its contact dermatitis. But how could it be as I have been using it for 3 months? I put hydrocortisone cream on them but nothing seems to subside. Now my whole face is covered with itchy swell rashes. What should I do?
I began to get a strange sunburn like rash around my neck only a few months ago (it has now gotten worse). It feels very systemic. It is not a typical rash. It is not raised. There are no bumps or scaliness. I posted in the thyroid forum because I am having thyroid issues and wondered if it could be related but my endocrinologist doesn't seem to think so (of course doctors are notorious for missing things that can be obvious). It's only around my neck and it's making me miserable.
She also asked her dermatoligist if this could be acute hiv rash and the dermatoligist said no since acute hiv rash is generalized and not localized (also said she would have other symptoms), She had a sore throat for a few days and a dry throat a few mornings. (no other symptoms)
Just wanted a second opinion and ask you if acute hiv rash can show up as perioral dermatitis and no other rashes anywhere else.
I know I am probably paranoid, but would appreciate your opinion thank you Dr.
Dear doctor! How long can I use Differin (adaferin, adapalene)?
I started using Differin in May, but I now realize Differin also contains Adapalene. Should I be worried about sun exposure while using Differin/adapaline? I noticed the container says not to use it on sunburns, but nothing about not using it in the sun.
I use the cream at night, but I also realize that it's a long term treatment... and as such just because I use it at night, does not mean the sensitivity is gone in the morning/day.

Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
We have asked her about EVERYTHING in the house and she said she has not put anything on her face or used a different soap. She has very sensitive skin and has keratosis. She uses Differin cream but it has never caused her face to look like this.
he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.it says its for rosacea but doest oracea work to kill acne to or no?and the differin gel 0.3% isnt this not as strong drying to dry up pimples as retin a micro 0.1%?
He gave me differin and it worked ok.While i was using the differin i was working all summer long outside and usually wore a hat.Well two years later ever since my forehead is my natural skin color which is pale.The rest of my face is very red.I have very oily skin and my skin breaksout if i put lotion or toners on it usually.Is there any advise on how to get my skin to even out and get this redness to go away.Please help.
i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. I went to see the dermatologist and he given me the differin cream, differin also make my nose oily and did not stop the oil production,which is also not helping, i very hopeless right now. please help with my oily nose.
The only different thing that I have done in the past few months about the same time the strange sunburn like rash came along only on my neck was to use Differin gel on my FACE (not neck) 3% every night. It was nowhere near my neck so I wonder if it's possible that I am getting to much absorption and that is what's causing this bizarre itchy rash. At this point I almost want to just contact a psychic and say please just tell me what it is...here's the money!
I messed with it a little bit, and the next day it had swollen up and was warm, like an infection. Since then, I have been using Abreva and Differin on it. The Differin makes the largest difference – it reduces the size significantly.
When it first showed up, it looked a lot like this picture: http://www.adamjbc.f2s.com/dlc/test/Photo-0171.jpg. It no longer has a white tip, and there are two small bumps (neither red nor painful) below it.
The best topical lotion in my opinion is Differin. It can be as effective as topical Isotretinoin but is usually much better tolerated, with little or no redness and peeling.
It is even more effective when used in conjunction with oral antibiotics.

Hi I've recently been using differin gel, but about a week ago I started breaking out bad and decided to take a week long break from the gel to heal my skin. I was wondering if taking a week long break was a good idea or not?
My face is constantly greasy and I get white heads all over my fourhead and chin constantly. I also have a wierd rash like bumps all over my fourhead that will not go away. My physician put me on three differenty types of antibiotics, retin A and nothing has even come close to clearing it up. What would make somone all of the sudden develop such bad skin if they never had bad skin before.
I got Differin from the doctor and used it for 6 months with no results. Is he to young to start to serious ritual? He is adopted and his birth mom has very serious acne. He is very worried about all these pimples. He started getting them at nine. The doctor told me they aren't really acne but I forgot what he called them so I could look them up.
When I look in the mirror right now besides a few spots all I see is like a rash on my cheeks, my pores are open around my nose/under my eye. There are also like white spots (not spots but like my true skin colour) around my main cheek area. It is really hard to describe and I have uploaded some pictures for you to look at.
Eight years ago I had a rash around my lip that I treated with a steroid cream, which then caused Perioral Dermatitis. My dermatologist gave my minocyline for 1 month and metro cream which completely cleared it up. Three months ago the dermatitis came back, I was not using any steriod cream at the time, but I believe it flared because of a new concealer I was using to cover a little redness around my nose.
So I thought maybe they were just a patch or dry skin, or skin a rubbed a bit raw when rubbing my eyes at night or something, so I tried applying Differin cream to it with no result. It is not spreading, but it is not going away either. Some have said it's just a mark I got from being overstressed, but i think that really means they have no idea...haha...help?
