Common Questions and Answers about Differin proactiv

differin

Avatar f tn He has been on a course of antibiotics as well as many topical creams. We have also tried ProActiv w/ no relief. I DO NOT want to put my son on Accutane. Can anyone offer any advise?
Avatar n tn who has small white pimples all over his nose and forehead? Is it ProActiv ? I got Differin from the doctor and used it for 6 months with no results. Is he to young to start to serious ritual? He is adopted and his birth mom has very serious acne. He is very worried about all these pimples. He started getting them at nine. The doctor told me they aren't really acne but I forgot what he called them so I could look them up.
Avatar n tn Rockoff I am a 26 year old guy who has experiecned acne for half my life, probably even more. I went on accutane 3 times, ages 15, 17 and 20. After that I have tried proactiv and every medication a dermatologist could imagine. Nothing besides accutane ever worked. At this point, I don't see myself growing out of it. I went to get a facial last week and the aesthetician said that I don't have oily skin and that what I have is not acne but ingrown hairs.
Avatar f tn Extremely sensitive skin- adverse reactions to salicylic acid and anything higher than a 2% benzoyl peroxide. Have tried differin, retin-a, duac, also natural solutions such as tea tree oil, lemon, honey, coconut, eggs, yogurt, witch hazel. Also have tried systems such as proactiv and muriad to no avail. Have completely overhauled my diet- hardly any sugar, no white/ refined starches, very little dairy, no red meat, lots of veggies, lots of water. No caffine, little to no alcohol.
Avatar f tn is it ok to use proactiv+ cleansing body bar with salicylic acid acne treatment?
Avatar n tn Treatment is either with oral or topical antibiotics (to kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin), topical retinoids (such as Differin or Retin-A), or anti-androgens (female patients only). If standard treatments result in failure or relapse your GP can refer you to a dermatologist for Roaccutane (oral Isotretinoin), the most powerful acne treatment available. What acne medication are you currently using? Retin-A will clear acne and heal the bruise-like scars you describe. Eloise.
Avatar f tn Dear doctor! How long can I use Differin (adaferin, adapalene)?
Avatar m tn Before I get to my question I thought it would be helpful if I stated that I use The 3 step Proactiv Solution system. The Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner and The Reparing lotion. I started using it twice a day for a little over a month now. So I realized yesterday that I had a small white patch of skin on my chin beside a part of my beard, it doesn't hurt, itch or nothing actually it looks slightly scaly when i strech the skin but nothing major.
Avatar f tn I just bought proactiv for the first time and a friends mom said when she was pregnant, over 12 years ago, that he Dr's said not to use it during pregnancy and I was wondering what u ladies though..
Avatar f tn Before I found out Im pregnant I was using proactiv for my face. But I read online that I shouldn't use products with peroxide or syllic acid, which is what proactiv is. I stopped using it, but its always been the only that works. Is it okay to use or should I find something else.
Avatar m tn I started using Differin in May, but I now realize Differin also contains Adapalene. Should I be worried about sun exposure while using Differin/adapaline? I noticed the container says not to use it on sunburns, but nothing about not using it in the sun. I use the cream at night, but I also realize that it's a long term treatment... and as such just because I use it at night, does not mean the sensitivity is gone in the morning/day.

Avatar n tn My son used proactiv and it did help a lot. He also changed his diet. He is limiting his dairy and carbs which have helped a lot. Also it might seem funny but he also puts apple cider vinegar on his face but use only the Braggs brand which says withthe Mother.
Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
341551 tn?1266980730 I've pretty much told everyone on here that my acne is bad and only getting worse!! It seems to be only on my forehead with minimal breakouts on my chin and cheeks. But its horrible!! I've never had bad skin so I don't really know what to do. I wash my face twice a day, use moisturizer and that doesn't seem to help. A couple people suggested Proactiv...saying that within a couple treatments it took care of their acne for the longest time..but they don't know I'm Pregnant.
1847035 tn?1327274923 also called Differin (adapelene), Retin-A, Renova (tretinoin), Retinoic acid, Retinol, Retinyl linoleate, Retinylpalmitate, Tazorac and avage (Tazarotene) Salicylic acid(no more that 2%): also called Salicylic acid, Beta hydroxy acid, BHA Soy:also called Lethicin, Phosphatidylcholine, Soy, Textured vegetable protein (TVP) also avoid accutane Note: Alpha hydroxy acids, sometimes listed as AHAs, glycolic acid, or lactic acid, are safe also you can talk to a dermatologist about getting a safe to
Avatar n tn I would check with your doc before staring proactiv though. Some would say not safe to start a new medication while pregnant. I used to use proactiv years ago for some minor acne and while i liked it when i quit using it my skin got horrible. It got used to the chemicals and went through some proactiv withdrawl it seemed. This too shall pass!
1672514 tn?1304512914 My face and neck have been itchy and burning for a week now, usually this only happens when I pet a cat and then touch my face, I am not sure if it has to do with my use of Proactiv, I have used proactiv for years, I thought maybe the acid and living in Florida doesnt mix well, I also have a runny nose and it feels like my nasal passage is swollen... any one know what I can do to get rid of this?? Its very annoying to constantly be itching all day and night!!
Avatar m tn he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.it says its for rosacea but doest oracea work to kill acne to or no?and the differin gel 0.3% isnt this not as strong drying to dry up pimples as retin a micro 0.1%?
1632818 tn?1299941302 I washed my face and slathered it with the sunscreen that is usually soothing, but it stung this time. I decided to google differin, and on their website it clearly said that differin should not be used on skin with eczma. Then I googled eczma, where it said that it is important to moisturise skin with eczma... So this contradicted the dermatologist telling me to not use my moisturiser and prescribing me differin.
Avatar m tn He gave me differin and it worked ok.While i was using the differin i was working all summer long outside and usually wore a hat.Well two years later ever since my forehead is my natural skin color which is pale. The rest of my face is very red.I have very oily skin and my skin breaksout if i put lotion or toners on it usually. Is there any advise on how to get my skin to even out and get this redness to go away. Please help.
Avatar n tn Hello There, Was hoping you could help me out. I had acne (quite severe) back in High School, took Accutane, destroyed my face for a bit but seemed to do the trick. That was back in 2001. Now, in early 2007 (about a year ago), the acne started coming back. OK, that's not my question. Just a back story. My question: I've started the Proactiv solution, and while things aren't *fantastic*, they are better, and it's only been 4 days.
Avatar f tn I heard not to use proactiv cause it will make it worse and neutrogena is what I was using too. Someone else just mentioned something about baby belle or belle baby.
Avatar m tn i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. I went to see the dermatologist and he given me the differin cream, differin also make my nose oily and did not stop the oil production, which is also not helping, i very hopeless right now. please help with my oily nose.
Avatar n tn but to get rid of the mild stuff i had before it got worse, i tried proactiv, diferin and clindagel, purpose, plain dove, dial, panoxyl, you name it... i tried it. and nothing worked. find a sympathtic derm, or play around. i personally think proactiv is a waste (except for their sulfer mask) b/c all it is is benzoyal peroxide. so find something at the drug store with the same % and try that. everything else in proactive is just filler.
