Common Questions and Answers about Differin and proactiv

differin

Avatar n tn who has small white pimples all over his nose and forehead? Is it ProActiv ? I got Differin from the doctor and used it for 6 months with no results. Is he to young to start to serious ritual? He is adopted and his birth mom has very serious acne. He is very worried about all these pimples. He started getting them at nine. The doctor told me they aren't really acne but I forgot what he called them so I could look them up.
Avatar n tn Rockoff I am a 26 year old guy who has experiecned acne for half my life, probably even more. I went on accutane 3 times, ages 15, 17 and 20. After that I have tried proactiv and every medication a dermatologist could imagine. Nothing besides accutane ever worked. At this point, I don't see myself growing out of it. I went to get a facial last week and the aesthetician said that I don't have oily skin and that what I have is not acne but ingrown hairs.
Avatar f tn Have tried differin, retin-a, duac, also natural solutions such as tea tree oil, lemon, honey, coconut, eggs, yogurt, witch hazel. Also have tried systems such as proactiv and muriad to no avail. Have completely overhauled my diet- hardly any sugar, no white/ refined starches, very little dairy, no red meat, lots of veggies, lots of water. No caffine, little to no alcohol. Multi vitamin every day and extra Zinc, Calcium, and Magnesium. Plenty of sleep.
Avatar f tn is it ok to use proactiv+ cleansing body bar with salicylic acid acne treatment?
Avatar n tn I get normal pimples tho but these come once in a while and theyre different and they start out as a small bruise and i can kind of feel a lump underneath but they stay there and manifest for longer and when they finally do pop theres alot of dark blood and pus and it always leaves a worse scar than my normal pimples. Shot in the dark if you reply but did you ever find out what it was or a solution for you?
1672514 tn?1304512914 My face and neck have been itchy and burning for a week now, usually this only happens when I pet a cat and then touch my face, I am not sure if it has to do with my use of Proactiv, I have used proactiv for years, I thought maybe the acid and living in Florida doesnt mix well, I also have a runny nose and it feels like my nasal passage is swollen... any one know what I can do to get rid of this?? Its very annoying to constantly be itching all day and night!!
Avatar n tn Is it normal to have such a reaction and if so, how can I help this heal, and how long will it probably take? By the way, I stopped applying the Differin when I got the reaction. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Im not a doctor, however i have taken Differin and i would advise taking it constantly until the prescription runs out. Once it runs out, assess your skin- do you really need to keep taking it?? If this answer is a yes, refill the prescription and keep taking the Differin(In relation to taking it "permanently", i recommend doing this self- assessment everytime you fill the prescription, no matter how long you have been using it).
Avatar m tn he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.it says its for rosacea but doest oracea work to kill acne to or no?and the differin gel 0.3% isnt this not as strong drying to dry up pimples as retin a micro 0.1%?
Avatar m tn Before I get to my question I thought it would be helpful if I stated that I use The 3 step Proactiv Solution system. The Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner and The Reparing lotion. I started using it twice a day for a little over a month now. So I realized yesterday that I had a small white patch of skin on my chin beside a part of my beard, it doesn't hurt, itch or nothing actually it looks slightly scaly when i strech the skin but nothing major.
Avatar f tn I just bought proactiv for the first time and a friends mom said when she was pregnant, over 12 years ago, that he Dr's said not to use it during pregnancy and I was wondering what u ladies though..
Avatar f tn Before I found out Im pregnant I was using proactiv for my face. But I read online that I shouldn't use products with peroxide or syllic acid, which is what proactiv is. I stopped using it, but its always been the only that works. Is it okay to use or should I find something else.
Avatar n tn My son used proactiv and it did help a lot. He also changed his diet. He is limiting his dairy and carbs which have helped a lot. Also it might seem funny but he also puts apple cider vinegar on his face but use only the Braggs brand which says withthe Mother.
Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
341551 tn?1266980730 I asked my doctor about proactiv, because my face kept breaking out and I use to use it before pg, and stopped when I found out I was. She said not to use it, but she said clearasil (sp) and noxema was fine...
1847035 tn?1327274923 You might laugh but I use Burt's bees baby wash. I've been using it about a year now and have a little more than half a bottle left and I never get break outs. It's really gentle and smells nice.
Avatar n tn I used to use proactiv years ago for some minor acne and while i liked it when i quit using it my skin got horrible. It got used to the chemicals and went through some proactiv withdrawl it seemed. This too shall pass!
Avatar f tn i have acne and freckles so i found it lightened my freckles and helped my acne, its the only thing that will help my acne and oily skin. Ive gone to mineral makeup, sunscreen, no fake tan, no caffiene and eating super healthy diet and so I dont have much left I can do, so I'm sure I can continue using my facewash.
1632818 tn?1299941302 She told me to buy some cetaphil cleanser and gave me a sample, and then she prescribed me differin which she said was for my "acne". I found this strange since I only had one pimple on my chin, and that's about as bad as it ever gets (and I wasn't bothered by having a pimple). I clarified that my problem was that my skin was sensitive, sore and feels like its burning after washing, and asked if differin would dry out my skin.
Avatar m tn He gave me differin and it worked ok.While i was using the differin i was working all summer long outside and usually wore a hat.Well two years later ever since my forehead is my natural skin color which is pale. The rest of my face is very red.I have very oily skin and my skin breaksout if i put lotion or toners on it usually. Is there any advise on how to get my skin to even out and get this redness to go away. Please help.
Avatar n tn Hello There, Was hoping you could help me out. I had acne (quite severe) back in High School, took Accutane, destroyed my face for a bit but seemed to do the trick. That was back in 2001. Now, in early 2007 (about a year ago), the acne started coming back. OK, that's not my question. Just a back story. My question: I've started the Proactiv solution, and while things aren't *fantastic*, they are better, and it's only been 4 days.
Avatar f tn I believe Proactiv isn't safe while pregnant but confirm by reading the labels! Apparently charcoal soap is amazing for acne.. I think you can get it at Walmart.
Avatar m tn i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. I went to see the dermatologist and he given me the differin cream, differin also make my nose oily and did not stop the oil production, which is also not helping, i very hopeless right now. please help with my oily nose.
Avatar n tn I am 40 yrs old and never had wrinkles or issues until approx 2 weeks ago! I changed to Proactiv to wash my face and after about 2 weeks noticed one morning that under my eyes looked very puffy and wrinkled with dark looking circles! I stopped the Proactiv immediately! I have also been fighting a cough/cold and having issues with my sinuses! My eyes feel puffy and itchy and the wrinkly dark appearance is not going away! I have been staying very hydrated and getting sleep!
Avatar m tn Since I turned 25, I started getting pimples here and there. The acne worsened throughout the year into cystic acne on the cheeks when I moved overseas. I lived overseas for a year, then moved back to the states, where all my acne disappeared for two months. It returned again slowly, starting out with a small rash (which went away with Desonide Cream .05%), then milia/whiteheads all over my cheeks, and then red pimples with white pus spreading from my cheeks to my chin now.
