Avatar m tn I started using Differin in May, but I now realize Differin also contains Adapalene. Should I be worried about sun exposure while using Differin/adapaline? I noticed the container says not to use it on sunburns, but nothing about not using it in the sun. I use the cream at night, but I also realize that it's a long term treatment... and as such just because I use it at night, does not mean the sensitivity is gone in the morning/day.

Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar n tn I've had a truly hideous sun damage/hormonal brown hyperpigmentation problem on my face for 8 years now. The worst part is that my acne, impetigo and chicken pox scars are snow white and so the total effect is terribly uneven and very, very obvious - I feel like a very ugly Smartie box. So many dermatologists, so much sunblock, so many prescribed peroxide creams and absolutely no permanent result. Temporary, minor fading is the extent of efficacy.
Avatar n tn I am an african woman who has suffered from acne since my teens and for years my dermatologist had prescribed a compound with 4%hydroquinone with other stuff. For the past three years I noticed my facial skin tone is much more darker (with a blueish underlying tone) than my chest and hands and it bothers me because I've always had an even tone overall (with the exception of when I breakout and get the acne dark marks). I received a second opinion and my new dr.
Avatar f tn I didn't notice that I had something like a farmers tan until I had to wear a dress for my friend's wedding. My forearms have been darker than the rest of my body for awhile now, and I would like to have an even skin tone. My legs, stomach, back, upper arms... basically anything that is covered up during the year is way lighter than my forearms.

Avatar n tn I got Differin from the doctor and used it for 6 months with no results. Is he to young to start to serious ritual? He is adopted and his birth mom has very serious acne. He is very worried about all these pimples. He started getting them at nine. The doctor told me they aren't really acne but I forgot what he called them so I could look them up.
Avatar n tn I'm ravi kumar I've same problem a black line in middle of my nose. Doctors say that this is hyperpigmentation this isn't any birth mark. But my mummy has this black line on her nose as well & her family members means my meternal family have the same problem. Doctors said it appeared due to ultrviloet rays of the sun. It can't remove completely & they were not sure that it might be reduce or might be not. I face embaracement just because of this.
7447190 tn?1391136420 Hello, It looks like post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a condition where there is an excess amount of pigment following a disease process that affects the skin. Without treatment, this usually takes about 6 months to resolve and for the skin color to go back to its normal color. Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color.
Avatar m tn He gave me differin and it worked ok.While i was using the differin i was working all summer long outside and usually wore a hat.Well two years later ever since my forehead is my natural skin color which is pale. The rest of my face is very red.I have very oily skin and my skin breaksout if i put lotion or toners on it usually. Is there any advise on how to get my skin to even out and get this redness to go away. Please help.
Avatar n tn Kaur, Thank you for your response. I should have explained more clearly...the scarring does have hyperpigmentation, but the main problem is one of more divits or indentations in the skin left behind from the lesions. What do you suggest to be done for that? Also, it is a painful treatment?
Avatar n tn Hello, The lesion that you have described sounds like a scar with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The treatment for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment.Apply hydroquinone cream on this scar and it should go away in a few days to months. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion.
Avatar f tn Hello, First of all you should wait for pityriasis rosea to run its course and then if there are any dark scars then they have to be treated on lines of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Avatar f tn Also always use sunscreen/sunblock as dark areas on exposure to sunlight turn darker still. For some patients with severe hyperpigmentation, surgical and cosmetic intervention may help. Wearing sunscreen and avoiding the use of abrasive cleansers and cosmetics for the face may help. Get enough sleep and eat a balanced diet everyday. It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for your symptoms and a proper clinical examination.

Avatar m tn Since I turned 25, I started getting pimples here and there. The acne worsened throughout the year into cystic acne on the cheeks when I moved overseas. I lived overseas for a year, then moved back to the states, where all my acne disappeared for two months. It returned again slowly, starting out with a small rash (which went away with Desonide Cream .05%), then milia/whiteheads all over my cheeks, and then red pimples with white pus spreading from my cheeks to my chin now.
Avatar f tn I’ve been suffering from acne for 4 years now and recently I’ve notice that dark marks started to develop around the corner of my nose and around my mouth. I’ve search through the internet bc I didn’t know what to call these dark spots so I assume it’s hyperpigmentation. I’ve tried various over the counter acne washes and my doctor even prescribed me a 5% benzoyl wash, which did not even do anything. I’ve also tried home remedies like aloe Vera and putting lemon juice.
