Differin for acne scars

Common Questions and Answers about Differin for acne scars

differin

Avatar m tn I have had acne red marks, not scars, that just won't go away. I've had them for about 2 years now and have tried products such as Differin & Atralin with no avail. Is there any other solution? Thank you, Doctors!
Avatar m tn If untreated, acne can cause physical and psychological scars. It should be treated quickly and robustly and not refered to as "just acne". Best Wishes, Eloise.
Avatar n tn I know, but as you say this is leaving you with scars. A synthetic topical retinoid like Differin will turn the skin over and completely remove the blemish. Or see a beautician or a nurse at a skin center who could extract the lesion without scarring, or carry out a chemical skin peel. Eloise.
Avatar f tn =/ i feel the same thing with you... bieleve me... i heard many good thing for snail cream espesially for acne and scars and i will try it for my scars and me... you can try it... you can also try a microdermabrasion,,, i suggest you epidermx II from internet. i went to dermatologist many times... the same and the same... i will try this 2 i said to you...
Avatar n tn Treatment is either with oral or topical antibiotics (to kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin), topical retinoids (such as Differin or Retin-A), or anti-androgens (female patients only). If standard treatments result in failure or relapse your GP can refer you to a dermatologist for Roaccutane (oral Isotretinoin), the most powerful acne treatment available. What acne medication are you currently using? Retin-A will clear acne and heal the bruise-like scars you describe. Eloise.
Avatar n tn It worked a treat but 9months after I had finished treatment the acne returned. Over the years I have been on 3 treatments of Roacutane for about 18months each with the same result about 9 months later. At the age of 23 I went to a new dermatologist who suggested trialing a 4th treatment of Roacutane, I refused not knowing the permanent damage it might have on my body especially considered I'd like to have children one day and Roacutane causes birth deformities.
Avatar n tn i want to know what effect it would have on my liver.... i also had peels done, but acne is still persisting....n i hv got acne scars also.... can u suggest a treatment for my problem.....
Avatar m tn A couple years ago I was put on a cream that noticeably decreased and practically eradicated the acne I had. The cream contained adapelene, however, it was eventually taken off my insurance and became far too expensive. I used this cream in the winter, and as such I never had to worry about the risk of sun exposure with it. Recently I was told that Differin became over the counter, and worked well for acne. I didn't really know what was in it at the time, but it worked phenomenally!

Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar m tn The acne worsened throughout the year into cystic acne on the cheeks when I moved overseas. I lived overseas for a year, then moved back to the states, where all my acne disappeared for two months. It returned again slowly, starting out with a small rash (which went away with Desonide Cream .05%), then milia/whiteheads all over my cheeks, and then red pimples with white pus spreading from my cheeks to my chin now.
Avatar m tn 1% gel every night for 2 years.I have been getting alot of acne for the last 2 or 3 months so i went to my see my dermatologist.he said since i been taking minocycline 100 mg daily for 2 years and using the retin a micro 0.1% for 2 years and im still breaking out i should try something new like it may be wearing off....he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....
Avatar f tn Accutane has many potential side effects but this must be balanced against the fact that it provides the best chance of long term remission from acne. However, as your son may outgrow his tendancy for acne as adolesence passes, I agree this should be considered only if his acne continues after other treatments have been fully explored. Which antibiotic and creams has he tried? Erythromycin has a high resistance rate and oxytetracycline is usually preferable.
Avatar f tn A common treatment for cystic acne is Isotretinoin, which cures most acne in about 90% of patients. In sever cases a course of oral antibiotics are also recommended. After cysts have mostly healed, macules, or "pseudo scars" may form. Macules are red patches of skin, sometimes raised slightly, where cysts used to be, and may resemble cysts in their appearance.
Avatar n tn Dermatologists have found that the best prescription acne gel is Differin. Differin is especially effective when used in conjunction with oral treatment such as antibiotics or anti-androgens (for females only).
Avatar n tn A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine. About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.
Avatar m tn treatment for acne. It is reserved for patients with severe acne which has not responded to other treatments, or who have relapsed after discontinuing therapy. It has many potential side effects but this must be balanced against the fact that 80% of patients experience long term remission from acne after one course lasting 16-24 weeks. Eloise.
Avatar m tn i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. Avatar n tn how do i get rid of acne scars of my face im a black male and finding it hard to find the right thing to use
Avatar m tn I just started getting acne just like this! I'm 22 and I started getting it over the summer with the same exact issue: the rest of my skin has normal acne or is clear and then every few weeks one of these really swollen zits appears on my chin and they cannot be popped (although I hadn't tried the needle thing). This is a new situation for me as well, so I was looking up how to handle it.
Avatar n tn There is no real cure for acne but there are many effective treatments which can control it until you are no longer prone to spots. I find over the counter remedies of limited benefit but the most useful one, in my view, is Freederm. Better though to ask your doctor for a course of oral antibiotics- oxytetracycline is usually more effective than erythromycin.
