I have had acne red marks, not scars, that just won't go away. I've had them for about 2 years now and have tried products such as Differin & Atralin with no avail.
Is there any other solution?

I never wanted to really speak openly about my acne but after reading Sean and your story i want to warn all future accutane users to realize this is not a 100% quick fix also to realize the side affects of Roacutane (accutane). i have had acne since i was 12 I was put on this medication when i was 14 and am now 23 still with acne yes accutane will problably make your skin look the best it ever has, if you are lucky for a long time.
Your not walking around with scars due to acne. Its not even like I squeeze or do anything. Topicals just destroy my skin. I may as well bleech my skin. I have had enough.
I have gone to dozen of doctors, they wont prescribe it, its not their face, they don't care so, I will take matters into my own hands. If I get suicidal or act like a crazy person or my hair thins or balds, I will stop immediately. I have to try this.
I started using Differin in May, but I now realize Differin also contains Adapalene. Should I be worried about sun exposure while using Differin/adapaline? I noticed the container says not to use it on sunburns, but nothing about not using it in the sun.
I use the cream at night, but I also realize that it's a long term treatment... and as such just because I use it at night, does not mean the sensitivity is gone in the morning/day.

Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...

It can be due to cystic acne. Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Since they are severe, so systemic medications are usually required. The treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics, tretinoin, oral contraceptives in females and Intralesional corticosteroid injections. Very severe cases may need excision and drainage.
it says its for rosacea but doest oracea work to kill acne to or no?and the differin gel 0.3% isnt this not as strong drying to dry up pimples as retin a micro 0.1%?why do you think he changed everything i dont wanna break out more for this stuff im thinking of calling the office friday and asking him but hes always so busy..do you think this is a good change or bad and why.im trying to uunderstand how the differin gel 0.3% not as strong as the retin a mico 0.
Accutane has many potential side effects but this must be balanced against the fact that it provides the best chance of long term remission from acne. However, as your son may outgrow his tendancy for acne as adolesence passes, I agree this should be considered only if his acne continues after other treatments have been fully explored.
Which antibiotic and creams has he tried? Erythromycin has a high resistance rate and oxytetracycline is usually preferable.
A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine.
About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.

i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. I went to see the dermatologist and he given me the differin cream, differin also make my nose oily and did not stop the oil production,which is also not helping, i very hopeless right now. please help with my oily nose.
Hi Brad. Acne is not a hygiene problem. Some of us are more sensitive to the effects of androgens (male hormones) in our bodies than others. Both girls and boys have androgens inside of them. It is also caused by the acne bacteria which some people have in their skin and others don't. Diet has not been proven to affect acne.
There is no real cure for acne but there are many effective treatments which can control it until you are no longer prone to spots.
Yeah, try Conchar Nacar. It's a latin mask made from oyter shell. Great stuff. Use it like 2x a week. It will also help impurities on your skin. Make sure that you mix it before applying. It's a weird texture and looks like oatmeal when you put it on. But I have always used for a mask.
