Common Questions and Answers about Differin and sulfur

differin

Avatar f tn We have tried over the counter products containing benzoyl peroxide and/or salicyclic acid, and sulfur. They seem to have made his acne worse. He does not have oily skin, and the pimples are just red - they do not seem to be puss-filled. I have tried products from 3-6 weeks before discontinuing. Am I giving them long enough? Are there any natural, home remedies I could try while I am waiting for him to see a dermatologist (in one month)? THANK YOU!
Avatar n tn Is it normal to have such a reaction and if so, how can I help this heal, and how long will it probably take? By the way, I stopped applying the Differin when I got the reaction. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Im not a doctor, however i have taken Differin and i would advise taking it constantly until the prescription runs out. Once it runs out, assess your skin- do you really need to keep taking it?? If this answer is a yes, refill the prescription and keep taking the Differin(In relation to taking it "permanently", i recommend doing this self- assessment everytime you fill the prescription, no matter how long you have been using it).
Avatar m tn he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.it says its for rosacea but doest oracea work to kill acne to or no?and the differin gel 0.3% isnt this not as strong drying to dry up pimples as retin a micro 0.1%?
Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar f tn Kristina, I had the same exact symptoms as you for months and I was diagnosed with chronic gastritis. My doctor also told me to stay away from foods that contain "sulfur dioxide" because it initiates the sulfur burps. Try mentioning both the gastritis and sulfur dioxide to your doctor and see what he says. I now take Nexium and I've been symptom-free for months. I hope you get diagnosed!
Avatar n tn I read in my biochemistry book that our bodies have another way of removing pollutants. In the blood the toxins are linked up to some sulfur containing amino acids and then excreted by our apocrine (sweat) glands. Sulfur compounds are very smelly, they make our feces smell bad and the bad smelling compound in cat spray is very similar to what is excreted in our sweat.
Avatar f tn I'm a 13 year old and over a month and a half I've been getting sick every other week. I start to get light sulfur burps around 4 pm. I wake up around 2 am with a terrible stomachache and awful sulfur burps. The sulfur burps are so strong it feels as if there's a carbonation and it makes me feel. Along with thAt I get really bad gas. So ill go to the bathroom around 6 am and the 1st night of this I throw up 2x and in the throw up is usually what is ate for dinner.
Avatar n tn Sulfur Reducing MicrobesExamples of sulfur reducing bacteria and some other microbes that can use sulfur compounds from the food and yield hydrogen sulfide as an end product: •Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium causing chronic gastritis, gastric or duodenal ulcer, upper abdominal bloating, heartburn and burping. H. pylori is diagnosed by urea breath test; treatment is by antibiotics.
Avatar f tn Sulfur taste in mouth is usually associated with problems like post nasal drip (quite possible in your case as you had sinusitis), diabetes, liver problems and initiation of sulfur forming bacteria in mouth. Food allergies to sulfur dioxide (used as preservative in certain food items) and vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause a sulfur taste in mouth. Since you have developed allergy or intolerance to alcohol, it can be due to either liver problem caused by antibiotic and other medication use.
Avatar m tn Hello, For dandruff, eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
Avatar f tn My doctor suggested Flonase, but I am allergic to sulfur (used a sulfur mask once and my whole face swelled huge, used to have to brush me teeth with sulfur water and my entire mouth would get blisters) and I noticed that Flonase contains sulfur in its makeup. Can I use it?
Avatar f tn For the past 4 months, BOTH my husband and I have been having recurring stomach issues. It starts with sulfur burps, bloating, then nausea and stomach cramps, occasionally vomiting, and then always severe watery diarrhea. It is so miserable.
Avatar n tn I tried cutting out dairy and that helped for 2 years then they came back and not only am I burping sulfur and diarreah and nausea and a lot of gas that bloats me and makes me look pregnant. I am now throwing up blood. I went to the DR and he put me in the hospital ( I am also a type 1 diabetic) they did an endoscopy and found I had ulcers no stomach lining. My liver produces to much bile and diabetic parisis( I do not know if spelled that correctly).
Avatar m tn There is production of gases like sulfur, methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen due to breakdown of sulfur containing proteins and amino acids in constipation. Diet modification and intake of probiotic drinks may help. Drink sufficient water, indulge in brisk walking daily. Drinking lemon juice in warm water is helpful. If the problem still persists consult a physician to find the root cause for your problem. Best luck and regards!

1632818 tn?1299941302 She told me to buy some cetaphil cleanser and gave me a sample, and then she prescribed me differin which she said was for my "acne". I found this strange since I only had one pimple on my chin, and that's about as bad as it ever gets (and I wasn't bothered by having a pimple). I clarified that my problem was that my skin was sensitive, sore and feels like its burning after washing, and asked if differin would dry out my skin.

Avatar m tn At one point I tried to see if I could get off of it, so I stopped taking it. However, I then experienced sulfur burps and vomiting and went back to taking the probiotics daily. Within the past 3 or 4 months, I decided to start taking the probiotic every other day. Since then, I have experienced about four episodes of sulfur burps and vomiting, sometimes with diarrhea. I am wondering if this has to do with the probiotics.
