Avatar n tn Hello, Do not use any alpha hydroxy acid products (those containing glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, retinoids (Retin A, Renova, Differin and Tazorac) and other topical acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide for 72 hours after the treatment. Also any scarubbing or acne soaps should be avoided for atleast 1 week after the miscrodermabrasion procedure.

Avatar n tn Hello, Both retinol and glycolic acids have their own pros and cons. Glycolic acid may induce redness, flaking or a burning sensation. In rare cases, and usually those involving the higher concentration chemical peels, it may cause inflammation, infection and skin discoloration. Retinol may cause a warming sensation, redness, itching and scaling of the skin. Since glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid, it is better.

Avatar f tn i have brought 25% glycolic acid, in the past, and the plastic cap fell apart twice, it just would crumble, and i just brought another the other day and i opened it up and it was full to the top of the jar, then the next day i looked at it and it seems to evaporate, i have seen this before, it would just shrink in the jar, what is this, and how should i store it.
Avatar m tn Okay, before I did this 30% glycolic acid peel I did a little research on it. Now, when I was researching people said, that there should be a little bit of redness, drying, scabbing, and peeling of the skin. The symptoms that is. So when I first applied it , it didn't really bother my skin as bad as I thought it was. There was little bit of a tingling not really harsh or lenient. I give it about a 4 out of 10 on a level of, I guess burning or a stinging sensation.
Avatar f tn I understand that glycolic and AHA acid peels and serums can be too harsh on the skin, but how much harm will a glycolic acid face wash cause if used 3x a week. Is it something to be concerned about? will it cause too much photosensitivity?
Avatar f tn After having been using the pigmanorm for several weeks now, I used the glycolic acid peel and after just 3 minutes it was burning much more than usual. I realized perhaps the pigmanorm had made my skin thinner and more sensitive and I couldn't leave the glycolic acid on for as long as I usually could, so I washed it off right away, but that put it as 4 minutes.
Avatar f tn i have extremely oily skin and i think its because i use my acne medications such as differin and duac but even though i wash my face 3 times a daii it is still oily and its worse during parties because i cant wash my face then..? wat should i doo..any herbal remedies as well?
Avatar n tn The skin on my cheek peeled off nicely, however the skin under my eye looks as if I have more wrinkles now (the skin did not peel off directly under eye but around eyes). When I put the 5% glycolic acid cream on I did not use any moisturizer and skin seemed tight for a few days (I was afraid to put anything on the skin at that point). My question is did I cause a permanent damage and will have these wrinkles under eyes permanently?
Avatar m tn I started using a glycolic cleanser (4%) with an 8% glycolic toner as well as an 8% glycolic night cream. At first I had new pimples and redness with irritation. After a few days, the irritation subsided. I decided to do a 10% glycolic mask. So far my face was getting accustomed to the acids so I was excited. Today, I wake up and looked closely in the mirror under natural sun so my skin was clearly visible. I noticed some small sloths of skin missing from my cheeks.
Avatar n tn I had a similar experience with a glycolic cream almost 2 years ago and it also makes me sick to my stomach. One night before going to bed, I applied some glycolic cream to my forehead and it was burning. I washed it off, but apparently not completely. The next day, I took my dog for a walk and came back inside to notice that I had pigmentation marks on my forehead. I was so upset and still am! I have done many Candela laser treatments to remove these marks, but they are still there.
Avatar m tn Dear doctor ,my spots were brown in satrting and are now pink coloured now which often turn red at times .I read about glycolic acid induced rosacea on net .Can it be so that i have rosacea as well on the spots because they are pink and melanin is not pink in shade ???
Avatar n tn i consulted one of the dermatologist , she said to use combination of kojic acid and glycolic acid 6% and apply for half hour and wipe it off. and also to take Vitamin B 12 supplementry. Is that advisable?. What treatment would you prefer?
Avatar f tn You need to go to a dermatologist who can prescribe to you facial peels with aha, salicylic acid or glycolic acid in them. Creams containing these (and more) ingredients also work very well in lightening and treating acne. maybe a combination of peels and creams/gels. Microdermabrasion also works very well in smoothing the surface of the skin. There is so much new medical tech out there for scars etc., that you shouldn't have to live with them anymore.
Avatar f tn At night, repair them with creams formulated from glycolic acid—a must for improving skin texture and tone. If still the symptoms do not improve then please get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist. Fungal infections and eczema have to be ruled out then. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
615350 tn?1272598969 I wash my face daily with antibacterial soap and use glycolic acid toner and cleanser that dries my skin out like crazy. I also use a niva visage spf 15 anti wrinkle cream daily. My pores are huge and and they seem to hold dirt well and now I have dirty looking skin from all of these little bnack heads on my face. Avatar f tn The chemical solution for body chemical peels is typically comprised of a combination of trichloroacetic acid (the main ingredient in a medium-depth skin peel) and glycolic acid (the main ingredient of a mild peel). The solution for body chemical peels is formulated to be stronger than the chemical solution used for light or medium facial skin peels, though it is milder than the phenol solution used for deep skin peels.
773889 tn?1235450567 Now the line has become a back circle and its on the middle of my nose. Retin A, Azelaic Acid and Glycolic acid are the safest medications because my dermatologist strongly advised me to avoid products with hydroqunone. My dermatologist recently advised me to increase the glycolic acid strength and apply as following. I also feel this is the most effective way. At night. Azelaic Acid 20% cream ( wait 20 mins) Retin A 0.05 ( wait 20 mins) Glycolic Acid 15% cream Moisturizer.

Avatar f tn Other treatment options include shaving in a different direction, tweezing, exfoliating with facial scrubs, sponges, towels or creams containing acid and ibuprofen or other NSAIDs. You can also apply calamine lotion as it will soothe the skin. Topical application of dilute glycolic acid and salicylic prepared solutions are also helpful. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn Creams that contain the active ingredient salicylic acid, alpha-hydroxy acid (lactic or glycolic acid), urea, or tretinoin soften the keratin and remove the thickened skin. Skin lightening agents like Hydroquinone 2-4% can also be used. applied on the affected areas twice daily.

Avatar m tn Hello, For the dark knuckles, treatment includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. However these should be used under a medical guidance. Also at night, repair your hands with creams formulated from glycolic acid—a must for improving skin texture and tone. For a more intensive nighttime treatment, apply cream and then cover hands with gloves or socks.

Avatar f tn I just had for the first time a mild glycolic chemical peel and wondered if it is normal to feel swelling and numbness on skin. I do have supersensitive skin especially with waxing, which is prone to swelling even with that. My skin also feels tight is that normal after a peel? I also broke out in a very painful burning rash on neck area after this. Shouldn't the aesthetician have done a patch test first? My face looked very inflamed after and now on the 4th day is still tight and burny.
