1337734 tn?1336234591 Terry Wahls clains to have put her MS to sleep using diet. The keys to her specific diet are typically available for sale on her web site. THis always makes me leary. Our bodies are at war, albeit with themselves. The stronger we can make our bodies, the more able they will be to fight the fight. THis includes a well balanced diet.
Male My doctor has told me I need to move to a gluten-free diet....yikes!!! All my life (and that is a very long time--ha ha) I have generally eaten whatever I wanted to eat. This change to a GF diet seems like such a huge mountain to climb. I know there are many others who have had to change to a GF diet after a lifetime of eating what they wanted with little or no restrictions. How does a person even get started on a change like this? What do you do when you go out to eat at a restaurant?

Avatar f tn Is it possible/ recommended to do a gluten free diet crossed with a calorie controlled diet? I was thinking of cutting carbs also but if I have to have them they have to be gluten free? Is that recommended ? Or is there any other way to do it?
Avatar n tn I had kidney stone surgically removed two months ago. I've been basically pain free since the removal of the stent a week later. But just yesterday I started to get an ache in my left side, where it had hurt previously. Could it be surgically related, or am I potentially dealing with another stone? My back does not ache nor is it severe pain at this time.
212161 tn?1599427282 THe meal you report eating was extremely high in carbs. A Roll, Mac and cheese, fries and choc pudding. Essentially a huge amount of fat and carbohydrates. Many people would probably have high sugars on such a meal. You should be managing what you eat to keep your 2 hour post eating lower. You will have complications if your sugars are consistently higher than 140.

Avatar f tn Has any one had success with a gluten free casine free diet? We are about to try it under the support from an integrated medical doctor and dietitian. Does any one have any good result stories or otherwise?
Avatar f tn I like the QUICK ADD widgets, however, not all the widgets for my trackers are displayed on my computer (MAC) screen. Also, an even shorter list of widgets appears on my IPhone 4, although I have gone through the process of syncing is several times tonight. Great website. . . and it's FREE! Thank you!
973741 tn?1342342773 s lean, antibiotic, steroid, blah, blah, blah free... lol Seriously, good fresh meat is healthy as long as we eat it in moderation - even some meat fat isn't bad for us as long as we don't get carried away... I'm not a real sweets lover, though I go in spurts with it. If I were going to want a sweet to be healthy, it would probably be Butterfingers candy bars or milk duds...
Avatar f tn No. But a bad diet, and use of any nicotine/cannabis product is bad for wet and dry ARMD.
Avatar m tn I have been using the MedHelp Weight, Exercise, Water and Macronutrient Trackers since the end of November and have found them to be a very helpful tools in managing my weight loss. However, this past week on multiple occasions, I have been unable to add new items to the Food database, so each day that goes by my information gets less and less accurate. I thought maybe the capacity of the individual Food database was the problem, but the system won't let me delete any items or edit them.
Avatar m tn The common advice for borderline high LDL is to eat less saturated fat, make sure you are eating a good amount of soluble fiber in your diet, lose weight if you are overweight, exercise regularly, and don't use tobacco. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I follow a gluten free diet. I have celiac disease. So far it hasn't been easy. I used to pretty much live on tuna fish and lunch meat and now I can't have either. I'm afraid I won't get the nutrients my baby and myself need but I am trying. Luckily many grocery stores around me carry gluten free foods and there is a strict gluten free/dairy free/vegan bakery close by if I get a sweet tooth.
Avatar f tn As many veggies as possible. I was craving mac and cheese the other day, so I made a box, added 4 nitrate free hotgogs, and a bag of steamed veggies. I did have to add a bit more cheese to cover the other stuff, but I got 4 big servings out of it.
Avatar f tn Your B12 appears very low, although it's probably within the labs reference range. My doctor says normal b12 levels are between 200 and 1100, but different labs use different ranges. I was dx'd with pernicious anemia with levels almost exactly like yours and have been on b12 injections for over 2 yrs - should have been for many years, but no one picked up on it - they all wanted to dx me with depression because I was tired all the time until I started having neuropathy (sp?
921276 tn?1243631886 The best food for a cat is a mouse, fish, or bird. Cats evolved from desert ancestors, who derived all their liquid from their prey and did not have to drink. Many of the cats of the present day still don't drink enough, so the best diet for most cat's is an all canned diet or a home-made diet. Cats do not have any requirement for grains at all! Good canned brands include: Evo/Innova, Wellness, Nature's Variety, and the equivalent. Please choose grain-free varieties.
Avatar n tn t be fooled by sugar free food items ~ they may be sugar free, however they are probably NOT carbohydrate free and that's the important ingredient for both type 1's and type 2's. As far as "free foods", veggies (other than corn or potatoes), cheeses, peanut butter, meats are some foods that are free of carbs and can be eaten freely as long as they aren't heavy in calories and fat.
Avatar f tn The IgA anti-gliadin antibodies can totally disappear in 2-6 months on a gluten free diet, so they are useful as a diet control. By contrast, IgG anti-gliadin antibodies need a long time, sometimes more than a year, to become negative. The reverse is also true. That is, a patient with celiac disease who has been on a gluten free diet and tests negative for IgA anti-gliadin antibodies, will show a rapid increase in antibody production when challenged by gluten in the diet.
