Avatar m tn Right on! Thanks for sharing this! It's true, any Vietnam Veteran with Type II diabetes is immediately eligible for service connected compensation! Here's the key ~ the burden of proof of active duty service is No Longer On The Veteran. But those VSO's that are state/fed (paid or sponsored by a VSO or agency) may be limited to what they can share with the Veteran... The Veteran Has To Ask specific questions, and offer specific information.
Avatar f tn I recently went out with a guy whos had T1 diabetes for 20 something years. I dont know much about diabetes but i been reading and asking him questions to learn more. My question is i spent one night at his house and in the morning when he woke up he was very very confused, i dont think he knew who i was, hes eyes were open but in his head he wasnt there, he was saying sentences that didnt make sence, was moving very slow.
Avatar m tn I went to my local NHS GUM at 3 weeks for advice (not knowning the window periods.I wonder if the nurse also did for she decided ti to test me at 24 days (this to the best of my knowledge was a 4th GEN). I had to wait 2 weeks for my results and after a VERY stressful fortnight, they came back negative. Relieved, at week six I got a very dry mouth. Concerned, I phoned up the GUM clinic again, there a health adviser told me the nurse had got the timing wrong and it should have been 28 days.
402205 tn?1230481005 I have a question for the nurses. I jammed my pinky finger somehow on Saturday. Its really swollen and hurts around the knuckle. Should I just tape it to the ring finger and let it heal? It feels a little better that way. I just don't feel like going to the doctor?
1503874 tn?1312309466 Thanks for the wonderful information ladies! I have to do one injection at night because my fasting numbers are too high. The rest of my numbers throughout the day have been fine and easily maintained with my diet. I do miss all those carbs and sugars ~ especially at the very end of the pregnancy but I will do whatever is best for my little girl!! Thanks again for all the insight!
Avatar f tn I hate when Dr's an nurses tell you not to freak out because that just makes me freak out! Ugh I just wanna go home...
628735 tn?1273875777 m are talking about so just says what ever to try and make me feel better rather than saying she will discus it with my OB or NP and get back to me. I would rather wait a little longer for her to get back to me so I can feel better a person that knows more about my question can tell her what to to say to me!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn M1s2go~ thank you for coming to our forum seeking information. This forum is designed for type 1 diabetes information and not type 2. Those who have type 1 diabetes don't have the option to control their disease with diet alone . . . they must have multiple daily injections of insulin. So, while I am familiar with some aspects of type 2 diabetes, I'm not competent to offer you the information you're looking for.
Avatar n tn t comment on a BG of 220, but there are many factors that can affect a given reading -- including other meds, timing of a recent meal, etc. Often the tests for diabetes are done using a fasting BG or a glucose tolerance test. Visit this website for more information: http://www.diabetes.org/pre-diabetes/pre-diabetes-symptoms.
Avatar n tn One thing that I feel has helped Jess be more self sufficient in her diabetes is diabetes camp. She has gone for years now and each time she comes home she takes on more responsibly at her own pace.
Avatar f tn Just thinking about after answering my last post about nurses that are continually providing inaccurate information. My pmp nurse Erin told me three times that the prescription that my pmp dr. had written was for 22 days, when I knew it was for 30 days. It's just another one of those mis information that is being continually provided in that office.
Avatar f tn There are no medical professionals here this is a community of patients. For a true second opinion you should consult with a doctor. That being said I did google geographical tongue as I had never heard of this condition. I did find: “What causes geographic tongue? A: The cause of geographic tongue is unknown. Several factors have been proposed as possible causes such as emotional stress, psychological factors, habits, allergies, diabetes and hormonal disturbances.
Avatar n tn Check out the website from the NIDDK on "Financial Help for Diabetes Care", here is the link. http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/financialhelp/index.htm Also, if you go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Website, the have a blurb about financial assitance for diabetes (see below) COPIED FROM the JDRF website: http://www.jdrf.org/index.cfm?
Avatar n tn Wow...so much information. As I said when I went for my routine in December a very small spot was found. In June the same spot was found and from what I have been told they found what appeared to be 16 mm in size. They took out 15 nodes and one was positive. I will (after I see doctor's this week) relay what was said and go from there. I really appreciate your input and expertice in this as I know you have all been thru this. I will also request a MRI be done BEFORE any treatment.
Avatar f tn Sorry if this is a silly question but for those of you who have gestational diabetes, did you have any symptoms or did you know that you had it before you found out? I'm on my 3rd pregnancy. My first born was 9lb 1oz and my second was 9lb 13oz so they want to give me a glucose test to find out if I have gestational diabetes with this one (I haven't had it before) and to keep an eye on its growth.
Avatar n tn Diagnosis of diabetes is traumatic for loving parents, and I would ask you to put them in c ontact with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.org). If they follow the "Newly Diagnosed" link on the web site, they can send an e-mail and be matched up with a volunteer who can give them individual one-on-one support.
Avatar n tn usually people with diabetes will have quarterly follow up with their doctors (depending on prescriptions / medical requirements). It is best to work with a diabetes educator for other needs as Drs really don't have time to address the day to day for people with diabetes.
Avatar f tn I am a believes in nurses for these programs. There are doctors and endochronologists who have diabetic control programs, but they don't have the time or interest.
4124125 tn?1350028141 Bring a pen/paper with you for the appointment so you can write down any important information that you get. Also, there is a lot of information available to you on the internet (such as the American Diabetes Association website) that can be really helpful and informative. Good luck to you and your mom.
