Folic acid is important for development during 1st 3 months, and after that the vitamin and mineral supplements found in the prenatals are important to supplement mom's nutrition more so than baby's, as baby gets everything it needs as a priority from our bodies, anyway. I.E. if we are malnourished we will suffer before baby does.
i don't remember my research on this fully, but i do recall that plant derived ALA's are not biologically equivalent to marine derived DHA. i take fish oil supplementation for DHA. the only concern there is impurities like mercury present in the fish oil - there are brands that make DHA capsules that have been purified for this purpose. some brands will even go as far to source their oils from the purest fish and highest standards, so that purification isn't even necessary.
If I take the one with no DHA is it ok to takr Advocare Omega Plex supplement on the side? Or should I take the vitamin with DHA and take iron on the side?

If he will drink juice you could try a smoothie with supplements in it, that's what my kids get every morning and when they get home from school, no questions asked. No other snacks until they finish their smoothie, with Udo's DHA Oil,Vit E oil, Vit B6, probiotic powder, and a little bit of protein powder, mixed with a few frozen strawberries, a few slices of banana and a 2 oz orange juice.
My doctor is big on dha. I take preferaOB ONE they have pre/post-natal Nutritional Supplement+DHA they're pretty good but its prescribed without insure they cost $123.00 :/. They also sell milk with DHA its pretty good but expensive.
Hello and thanks for this service! Is it more beneficial to take an "omega 3 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement" or an "omega 3, 6 &9 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement"? I'm a bit confused as to which would be of the optimum benefit to purchase. Thanks for your time and expertise!
What brand of prenatal vitamins is everyone using? Im using nature made with dha. Just wondering if there is one kind of prenatals that are better than another.
There are vegetarian and vegan vitamins. Go to one of the bigger nutrition centers or look online.
I also started a supplement of DHA. DHA is a type of fish oil that is specifically related to the development of the neurological system and eyes and is really important in the first trimester when these important systems are forming. It is also a natural anti depressant and may help with hormone related emotions. I also recommend a trip to your OB/GYN for pre pregnancy exam and counseling. Good Luck TTC!!!
I'm taking an awesome strawberry flavored DHA supplement, or I'd seriously consider doing the flaxseed thing.
ve been diligent with taking my vitamins since. Has anyone else been Vitamin D deficient and had to take a supplement? If so, did baby come out healthy? Thx.
low carb, high fat, high protein, homecooked. I have already added fish oil supplement (human grade) I squeeze it out of the liquid capsule and the same for Vitamin E. First... I have read conflicting information about the types of Omegas some say you need 3 & 6, while others say not to Omega 6 because it can cause cancer to grow. Omega 3&6 OR Omega 3??? Secondly I got some advice online from someone that had a dog with cancer...
So i visited a friend today and she looked at my prenatal vitamins that i had with me and was surprised they didn't have dha in them. She gave me some dha vitamins and recommended that i take them and continue to do so. My dr didn't mention dha. Am i alone in this?
You're not too late. I take the gummie vitamins because all the others make me sick.
I don't think you've done any harm. If your concerned you could start taking them now or add a dha supplement to your current prenatal.
I take Neevo dha it's a prescription prenatal and it's very easy on your tummy.
I take for my current pregnancy MorDHA Prenatal supplement which is highly purified. My youngest son was given DHA free formula once breastfeeding stopped and then supplemented with Babies Only DHA from egg phospholipids because I refused to give him vegetable sources of DHA.
My prenatals came with a fish oil supplement for the dha.
