592969 tn?1248325405 I have tried human grade cat food that I purchased online and I find a dirty sock in the cat food bowl or she dumps it onto the floor. She hates the human grade cat food including Neumann's Organics. She is eating Iams cat food now and still gaining weight. Any suggestions on yummy cat food that is good for her and will help her to lose weight? I am getting tired of throwing cat food out because she does not like it and neither do the other cats in the house.

Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
6797455 tn?1391513860 m trying my best. I take prenatal vitamins that have folic acid and dha in them.
Avatar f tn Centrium prenatal- has the multi and dha. And nature valley with dha. Definitely get something with dha so important baby's brain development!
Avatar f tn Rather, we want to increase long-chain omega-3 fatty acids (from fish oils) to reduce the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids in the food. So, rather than add a supplement to a food, you are better served to feed a food that already has increased omega-3 fatty acids (specifically, EPA and DHA), and has a ratio of n-6 to n-3 of between 10:1 and 5:1.
Avatar f tn The FDA says that it is safer to have DHA from a non fish source. I say the DHA is straight from the fish and not good to take! I would not take it or stop. I take the one Enfimil makes and it is I think $11 a month from Walmart and it is from a none fish source. I would tell your ob you wnat another one if you don't want that one!
10939157 tn?1413971264 Nestle Good Start with DHA and ARA Natural Cultures had the highest review standing. DHA and ARA are important in the promotion of immune system function, growth and development, as well as, eyes and brain. This formula topped the list, as it contains "comfort proteins," 100 percent whey protein from cow's milk. It easily breaks down during digestion and is available in powder, concentrate, and ready-to-feed preparations.
Avatar n tn My male cat has a urinary tract infection, with cristals. What brand name cat food should i buy?
Avatar f tn My prenatals don't have DHA, should I switch from rainbow light?
Avatar f tn Ask your OB, if in the US, about schnucks free prenatals program. With a doctors prescription you can get a years worth of free prenatals.
Avatar f tn The one a day pill is but the dha is not.
1492421 tn?1290300515 personally i take a high quality prenatal vitamin ( Sisu expecting) , a folic acid and a dha. I buy from our local health food store and the ladies there said you can never get enough folic acid. I take the dha kinda for the same reason, most people are low in dha and its extremely important for brain development.
Avatar f tn I love the nature made with dha. I take an extra folic acid of 400 mcg to equal the amount in a prescription prenatal. Never had an issue with sickness or nausea. Good luck!
Avatar n tn You wanna know what the problem is? The problem is they claim to be low in this and high in that. Should you believe what you're reading on the label? NOP, especially if it is a cheap food. ZQ is right on the money. Commercial foods are the cause of digestive and other problems in cats. You give your cat what it needs...you will not have problems with vet bills. I would feel absolutely horrible listing foods that are low in Phosphorus as I don't know which one's telling the truth.
Avatar n tn Nature's Organic is a good brand of cat food, but it's pricey and you need to get it at a pet store. I've got a low opinion of most of the large brand name special cat foods. They tend to be full of junk like corn and other filler ingredients. Whatever product you use, it should use "real meat by products." Frankly, I always suggest that you try feeding your cat cheap cuts of chicken, beef or fish, mixed with rice as a mash.
432779 tn?1364494875 I also have the plain Gerber cereal also in case the DHA/ARA irritates their stomachs. They make the DHA/ARA in the baby food also..Gerber. I have found Target to have the best prices on baby food.
Avatar f tn I had been on prescription ones but they were $56/month out of pocket. My doctor told me the target brand is just as good.
926462 tn?1284819011 My cat has been on a steady diet of dry cat food for several years. I was feeding her "Science Diet" and then she started to gain weight. I then switched to "Science Diet" light...she is still overweight. I don't over feed her, she eats about 1&1/2 cups per day. I also give her about 3-4 treats a day (hairball treatment). In the morning, I also give her about 1/8 cup of 2% milk, or sometimes yogurt.
Avatar f tn If your cat has crystals in her urine, you need to keep the ash content in her food as low as possible, because high ash content can cause a cat that is prone to forming crystals to form more of them, and this can lead to urinary tract blockages. It's a lot more common for male cats to block up than females, but it's not unheard of for a female to develop a blockage. Try to find food with an ash content of 3% or less.
Avatar n tn ve heard as long as you are eating healthy the baby is getting nutrients from your food, just needs the folic acid in tablets to prevent spina bifida and other defects. :) ask you're doc if you want to find out .
Avatar f tn Thanks dearies
782269 tn?1236276832 My cat (about 10 mos. old), ate ONLY canned food as a "baby", but NOW, will ONLY eat dry food too. She will not eat the canned no matter what. I have lots of it leftover, and when I've run out of the dry stuff, I've tried giving the cans to her, and she won't touch 'em. I don't know a whole lot about cat nutrition, but I DO know, that one should try to buy food that's low in "ash".
Avatar f tn I work at a health food store and New Chapter is by far the best brand of vitamin you can buy its made from all whole foods so you can take on an empty stomache and it has probiotics in it which are great for any stomache ir digestive issues you might experience through out your pregnancy.
