Dha and pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Dha and pregnancy

dha

7062279 tn?1388370086 re afraid of the mercury content, but the DHA in capsure form is mercury free, and has a lot of really good benefits for you and baby (if you weren't getting DHA from the pills, or from eating lots of fish, baby would just take the DHA in your body and use that, but you use it too, so you'd be in short supply). It is perfectly safe and even encouraged to help baby grow healthy. I take fish oil capsules on the side, in addition to my prenatal vitamin.
Avatar f tn My pre natal came with a bottle of the omega / dha. Completely safe and i have been on them since I found out at 5 weeks and now 22 weeks.
Avatar f tn U can do that. Most prenatal vitamins that also have dha r two separate pills anyway. I take regular omega 3 fish oil pills from vitamin shop in conjunction with my prenatals from cvs. U may want to look into dha specifically for pregnancy, but they're also way more expensive. Also check to make sure the fish oil comes from small fish like sardines or anchovy and that it doesn't contain soy. It's a lot to look into, but I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I take the target generic brand prenatals with this pregnancy and did with my son and he is a happy healthy almost 3 yr old. My original obgyn with my son said any prenatal is fine and my 2nd with this pregnancy agreed but when I had an appt with a midwife she told me only dha prenatals and I needed a natural brand. Who knows?!
Avatar f tn FISH OIL has both DHA plus EPA. The lattest is not good for pregnancy but the DHA is good, so don't take fish oil as they sell it, get DHA alone. All pharmacies have it.
Avatar n tn Was too much iron that was making me so sick on top of pregnancy nausea and was burping up fish oil. Now im taking vitafusion prenatal gummies with Folic acid and DHA. I feel a lot better...still have nausea though.
1969424 tn?1353020641 Brainstrong prenatals, I like the amount of DHA and folic acid, I did a lot of reading of labels and they seem to have the most of the important stuff. I started on gummies but then I realized there were some important things that were missing.
668044 tn?1225913014 I take One A Day Prenatal with DHA/EPA. The box (for $13) comes with one bottle of 30 prenatals and a bottle of 30 DHA/EPA pills. I have been taking them together through my pregnancy. My OB recommended them if the ones she prescribed didn't work out (they gave me a stomach ache so I went with One A Day). I have heard nothing but good things! I recommend them!
1123156 tn?1338863369 I took a pregnancy test after being a week late and turns out im pregnant! My DF picked up "NatureMade" Multi Prenatal (High folic acid, iron and zinc.) Now he also got "Expecta" Lipil ....DHA supplement for pregnant women.........anyone else take these? I just want to make sure im on the right track. I'm going to see the obgyn tomorrow..........cannot wait!!!!
Avatar n tn Idk what is in the pills you are talking about but if it doesnt have dha/epa i would suggest going ahead and taking actual prenatal vitamins. Dha is to help with brain development.
Avatar f tn m taking the prescription vitafol-ob+dha which is $55 and I was taking bellybar before and during the earlier part of pregnancy which has almost 2x the amount of vitamins but no dha for $13 is it safe to switch back? Is there something else that I am overlooking?
Avatar f tn I'm taking DHA per my Dr bc he asked me was I going to breastfeed and I told him yes!
Avatar f tn One of my prenatal vitamins have DHA but no iron, and the other has iron but no DHA...The one with iron has a little higher percentage of vitamin C as well...which one should I take? If I take the one with no DHA is it ok to takr Advocare Omega Plex supplement on the side? Or should I take the vitamin with DHA and take iron on the side? These have me confused!
Avatar f tn thanks so much i still cant believe it,what does DHA stand for sorry all new to this? thank you so much for your reply.
Avatar m tn No more deportation for Hepatitis and TB carriers Khaleej Times (KT) reports 12 August 2010 that the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) website no longer includes Tuberculosis and Hepatitis B or C as deportable conditions for foreigners under the medical fitness rules, except for some worker categories.
871965 tn?1241833146 For pregnancy the most important things are folic acid, at least 800mg (prevents neural tube defects like spina bifida(sp?)), and DHA, a form of omega fish oil responsible for developing brain, nervous system and eyes. If you get fish oil/omega 3 fatty acids, make sure the quantities list DHA and an amount specifically eg. EPA 650 mg DHA 450mg Dont take it if it says Omega 3 1650mg Includes EPA and DHA High Quality like "Nordic Naturals" is best.
1492421 tn?1290300515 personally i take a high quality prenatal vitamin ( Sisu expecting) , a folic acid and a dha. I buy from our local health food store and the ladies there said you can never get enough folic acid. I take the dha kinda for the same reason, most people are low in dha and its extremely important for brain development.
Avatar f tn I take the prenatal yummiest at Walmart has 800 mcg frolic acid and dha there good taste like candy!
Avatar f tn Can u take prenatals and fish oil at the same time or is that overdoing it?
Avatar f tn I have the nature made ones. There's over 200 pills, and it wasn't too expensive. Which is good, you don't have to constantly be buying vitamins.
1891853 tn?1344648442 Once I decided, she gave me a prescription, but everything was fine and I had a normal pregnancy and healthly baby
1885735 tn?1322375616 I take both, a prenatal vitamin and a dha supplement. I have been since I was 4 weeks (when I found out), and now I'm 27 1/2 weeks. I always take them with food though.
Avatar f tn i don't remember my research on this fully, but i do recall that plant derived ALA's are not biologically equivalent to marine derived DHA. i take fish oil supplementation for DHA. the only concern there is impurities like mercury present in the fish oil - there are brands that make DHA capsules that have been purified for this purpose. some brands will even go as far to source their oils from the purest fish and highest standards, so that purification isn't even necessary.
773801 tn?1244520679 The doctor will tell you to take prenatal vitamins and DHA which is Omega 3 which promotes healthy brain development and eyes and nervous system. What they fail to tell you that if you are taking these daily that you need to stop taking them at the end of your pregnancy because it prevents you from going into labor. Omega 3 are used to help prevent preterm labor, PMS menstral cramps in non pregnant women and relieve joint and prevent inflammation.
Avatar f tn Does ur prenatal vitamins have dha? Is it ok to take them tablets with dha? The one i take doesn't have it but im trying to get gummies to substitute but all gummies seem to have dha.
