1276890 tn?1271027818 Recommend a moderate fat intake which means using polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats and no Trans fats. Vegans need vitamin B12 and calcium supplements. Suggest you take a daily multi-vitamin and increase calcium consummation (soy milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, leafy green vegetables) for stronger bones.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor. Also, go to one of the big vitamin places or look online, there are vegan vitamins.
558632 tn?1303471125 INGREDIENTS Cold-pressed unrefined organic flaxseed oil, hexane free DHA algal oil (contains soy lecithin), non-genetically engineered natural vitamin E mixed tocopherols and organic rosemary extract (to protect freshness). I am assuming soy lecithin is soy right? just typed in google flax seed oil ingredients. When i go to endo next month going to ask about both of these. If my thyroid mind remembers i will let you know!!!!
Avatar n tn You can also start her on supplements containing DHA, such as fish liver oil capsules or algal oil supplements. These omega-3 fatty acids help in brain and neural development of the fetus while ensuring maternal serotonin levels stay high (she will feel happier and pain threshold will be higher). Other contents of fish liver oil, such as vitamin A, will improve mucosal integrity and increase resistance to infections.
Avatar f tn There are vegetarian and vegan vitamins. Go to one of the bigger nutrition centers or look online.
Avatar f tn I take some that my sister suggested for nausea cuz they help with the digestive system to help break down foods. I found them at target and had a pharmacy tech help me make sure they had everything I needed in th He was the knowledgeable and I bought them. In the next week and a half, my nausea was almost gone completely and after that I never had it again. They're called Rainbow Light "prenatal one" and they're actually a food based, vegan and gluten free prenatal pill.
Avatar n tn If it were me, I would probably avoid the Salmon oil and use a different kind of fish oil. Carlson had a great one and I can tolerate it well, I have all kinds of allergies, but, this is good for me to take.
Avatar f tn ve tried 3 different kinds of prenatal vitamins, but they all make me sick. The first ones I tried were vegan ones, but the taste and size made it hard to swallow. I tried gummies, hoping it'd be easier to keep them down, but they were still making me sick. I asked my doctor and she told me it could be the fish oil in them. I went back to vegetarian ones in liquid form, but the taste makes it hard to keep down. Do you guys have any suggestions for other ones I should try?
Avatar f tn I am vegan (no animal products) & I take Prenatal One by Rainbow Light. I began taking them at 6wks & In my first trimester they made me very nauseous. I switched to taking them in the evenings & that helped a lot! I also take a supplement from wholefoods for DHA omega-3's that is completely fish free - it's from algae.
Avatar f tn Okay so my current prenatal vitamin does not have Dha in it...is it possible for me to take a Dha vitamin in conjunction with my prenatal vitamin?...if so what is a good brand to take?
Avatar m tn I highly recommend Fortitude Canine with Algal DHA. I have been giving this to my growing pup and I have seen an improvement in his health and coating. Its a natural food suplement for dogs and includes omega 3 fatty acids. You can find it at Kauffmans Animal Health and order it directly online. http://www.ka-hi.
1885735 tn?1322375616 Fish oil with dha and epa.
Avatar m tn An analysis of eight clinical studies which investigated the effects of taking EPA and/or DHA from fish oil with various anti-depressants (including SSRI drugs such as fluoxetine and sertraline and tricyclic drugs such as amitriptyline) found that, overall, there appeared to be additive benefit, especially from EPA in doses of about 1,000 mg — 2,000 mg per day, concluding, "EPA-rich omega-3 fish oil may be recommended for the adjunctive treatment of major depressive disorder.

Avatar f tn   The EPA/DHA recommendation can usually be met with one softgel capsule of fish oil (with 1 gram or 1000 mg of fish oil) which usually contains 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg of DHA, totalling 300 mg of the two omega-3s. However, amounts do vary (some products are stronger, some weaker), so look at the amounts of EPA and DHA provided, and add them together to see if the product supplies 300 mg in one serving.  Dr.
1095404 tn?1333992839 my mom told me today that krill oil is actually better for u than fish oil b/c it doesnt contain as much mercury. so if u could find krill oil w/ dha or take dha w/ it.. i might look for that.
Avatar m tn no it is not harmful it is a must, but the quality and concentration of epa and dha must be very high at 2-3g daily (fish oil quantity is not useful check epa/dha), most products are scam with very low dha/epa so useless.
Avatar f tn FISH OIL has both DHA plus EPA. The lattest is not good for pregnancy but the DHA is good, so don't take fish oil as they sell it, get DHA alone. All pharmacies have it.
1225070 tn?1344709174 DHA comes from a source that is known as being pretty clean and doesn't give you the anti-coagulant problems (thining of the blood) that sometimes you run into with fish oil, so I think DHA omega 3s are okay to take with a baby aspirin unlike regular fish oils. You can find is at any drug store next to the over the counter prenatal vitamins. I actually ordered mine from drugstore.com. Plus DHA is great for the baby once you are pregnant!!
Avatar f tn i don't remember my research on this fully, but i do recall that plant derived ALA's are not biologically equivalent to marine derived DHA. i take fish oil supplementation for DHA. the only concern there is impurities like mercury present in the fish oil - there are brands that make DHA capsules that have been purified for this purpose. some brands will even go as far to source their oils from the purest fish and highest standards, so that purification isn't even necessary.
1192727 tn?1282735542 Fish oil capsules contain both DHA and EPA. Supplements containing EPA may not be recommended for infants or small children because they upset the balance between DHA and EPA during early development. Pregnant women should talk to their doctor before taking fish oil supplements. Fish oil capsules may cause minor side effects, such as loose stools, abdominal discomfort, and belching. In addition, they may prolong bleeding time slightly.
1095404 tn?1333992839 I wanted to get my body properly prepared this time and a nurse told me to have a look at Marilyn Glenvilles site, lots of info but the thing I wanted to tell you all is that if you research the benefits of fish oil DHA etc you will see that all the info tells you the same thing, IT CAN HELP WITH MISCARRIAGE and not only that its fantastic for a range of ailments!! Im currently taking my vitamins and of course the fish oil, I'll give anything a go!!
Avatar f tn Hello and thanks for this service! Is it more beneficial to take an "omega 3 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement" or an "omega 3, 6 &9 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement"? I'm a bit confused as to which would be of the optimum benefit to purchase. Thanks for your time and expertise!
7062279 tn?1388370086 DHA is in fish oil, and it's for baby's brain development. Some women don't like fish, or won't eat it because they're afraid of the mercury content, but the DHA in capsure form is mercury free, and has a lot of really good benefits for you and baby (if you weren't getting DHA from the pills, or from eating lots of fish, baby would just take the DHA in your body and use that, but you use it too, so you'd be in short supply).
