Desvenlafaxine anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Desvenlafaxine anxiety

pristiq

Avatar n tn Desvenlafaxine, (Pristiq) like any of the psychotropic meds, has a great number of possible side effects, but a delay in menstrual cycles is NOT listed in the PDR. If there is no possibility you may be pregnant, the delay in your period is no doubt due to stress relative to the depression. Since you have only been on desvenalafaxine for one week, I'm assuming your prescribing doctor wants you back for a follow up in a few weeks time.
Avatar n tn PRISTIQ is an extended-release tablet for oral administration that contains desvenlafaxine succinate, a structurally novel SNRI for the treatment of MDD. Pristiq is an SNRI while Wellbutrin is not. Abilify is not in either class, it is totally different.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone I went to my doctor and she took me off the zoloft and put me on pristiq to help with my panic and anxiety. Has it helped anyone? Also she told me to not taper off the zoloft and it's safe to just start the pristiq.
Avatar n tn t know if it has done much other than make me get depressed more often. I went on it for anxiety. I had been fighting the anxiety with talk therapy for 10 months, but finally I just felt I needed something. I had asked my doctor about trying Buspar. She said that it would make me feel drugged and that I should take Klonopin. I've been reading about it and have gotten pretty scared. My doctor also started me on lexapro last week at 2.
Avatar f tn Background - I take .25 or .5 mg of Xanax as needed for anxiety. I use it as a rescue drug than daily maintenance. To give yo uan idea, I have used is about 5 tiems in the past month. However, I probably needed it more often but I try to tough out situations (which isnt the best) and on the days that I don't take it, I typically feel some anxiety. When I "give in" and take it, my anxiety or panic attack is usually at least a 7 on a scale from 1-10.
Avatar f tn Effexor and Pristiq are not the dance thing. Sane family. Venlafaxine vs desvenlafaxine. Pristiq had added benefit of norepinehprine uptake inhibitor or something. Weird that everyone is getting prescribed 50mg when the added benefits dont kick in until 100-150mg. Before swapping drug altogether (depending on non mental side effects) try upping dose first maybe.
20867265 tn?1552026340 t see the need to wean me off of it because he figured that the mood stabilizers would balance out any rapid cycling caused by the antidepressants (antidepressants, especially SNRIs like Effexor/Venlafaxine or Pristiq/Desvenlafaxine have a tendency to cause rapid cycling in Bipolar Disorder patients). However, this turned out not to be the case. In January, I have a very bad mood episode which required hospitalization.

Avatar f tn Desvenlafaxine ( Pristiq ) is a novel form of the isolated major active metabolite of venlafaxine, and is categorized as a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It works by blocking the transporter "reuptake" proteins for key neurotransmitters affecting mood, thereby leaving more active neurotransmitters in the synapse. The neurotransmitters affected are serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline).
Avatar m tn I'm sorry, I missed that FT of 3.1... my apology; what's the reference range for that? Some of the meds you're looking at are pretty strong stuff... I'm not sure you have generalized anxiety disorder, do you? That's kind of a permanent anxiety... The anxiety caused by hypothyroidism is, typically, temporary and resolves once thyroid hormones are adequate, so I'm not sure you'd really need anything that "potent" or hard to come down from... Ahhh...
Avatar f tn eventually i took her to a doctor and they prescribed her Desvenlafaxine MR. This medication was THE WORST, she was having split personalities and when i confronted her about things she would laugh histerically and had not one shred of emotion or care about me or herself on this medication, and when she snapped back into her old self every now and then she would cry because she doesnt know who she is in that mindset and knows she hurts me alot when like that.
Avatar f tn It use to be cleaveland heart clinic that I posted on all the time. Now its medhelp. I am having such anxiety right now I cant see straight. I have been posting on the lung forum for some things found on an xray this last week. I dont know how to ask the doctor a question. I keep going to the expert forum and posting and it just goes to the regular forum. It is so discouraging. No one will post back! Does noone post anymore. Do people not want to help anyone out anymore?

Avatar n tn If you are just taking more to get relief from the anxiety because it is not working as well (which is common), then you need to address that with your doctor, not just take it upon yourself to take more. Good luck, update us when you can!
Avatar f tn It's not HIV related so can't say what you should do, maybe get more sleep?
Avatar m tn I've been having anxiety for about 6 long years, almost seems like hell in my case, but let's go back 6 years ago the night the hell started. I was laying in bed watching a movie to try and sleep until it hit me like a point blank gun shot to my chest.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome! Yes, I believe it is normal. At least a lot of people, including me, have and do experience it. Great job on quitting. Are you in any sort of aftercare program or counseling?
Avatar n tn I am having weird feelings and kind a lot of anxiety today. I feel like I want to jump out of my skin.
