I was diagnosis with dvt in november of 2011 and now I'm 27 weeks pregnant...I want to have a vbac but my doctor said its a 40% chance of going into labor on my own.
Those diagnostic features help to determine treatment. The risk of dvt is pulmonary embolus ( a piece of the clot breaks off and goes to the lung or heart) which can be fatal.
Many people with dvt have no symptoms prior to PE. It would be helpful for you to know how your dvt was diagnosed and where is was located so that you have that information for future medical considerations.
I suspect that you are on coumadin for your dvt because it was felt to be acute. acute dvt has a risk of embolizing (breaking off) and floating to your heart. . That risk diminishes after the dvt becomes chronic, usually 3 months or so. I agree that you need to see a vascular specialist to assess your legs for chronic venous insufficiency and PAD. Coumadin is not a treatment for PAD. PAD forms because of cholesterol from you diet, diabetes and smoking.
We already know that immobility for an extended period of time can increase the risk of DVT with the following factors being added risk factors:
•Travel for more than 3 hours in the four weeks before and after surgery
•A personal or family history of DVT
•Active cancer or cancer treatment
•Recent surgery or leg surgery
•Existing clotting abnormality
•Obesity (BMI of above 30)
•Chronic or acute medical illnesses
•Hormones or the oral contraceptive pill
•Inflammatory bowel diseas
i started use Desogestrel in december at start when my period came was all fine period was gone after 4 days. january 4th started some lil bleeding and spotting and didnt stopped ever since. like 3 weeks ago i went to my doctor she said lets change to Slynd . but i am still spotting sometimes more sometimes less. my question is if i take a 1 week brake and resume taking pills will stop the spotting ?

Surgery itself can lead to DVT. If a person where so hypotensive as to not be able to get out of bed following surgery, the risk would probably be even higher.
Im curious to know when you were diagnosed with dvt since your first Ultrasound was negative. But given the fact that you have had a dvt, I think the risk of dvt or worse yet PE or stroke has to be compared with the convenience of Mirena

Hi guys. Im a 30 yr old male I've read that the risk of dvt per year for any given person after breaking down the numbers is 1 percent of less. I just had ankle surgery. Plates and screws put in. I've had no swelling or pain in my legs, no change of color. I'm not supposed to but I'm able to walk on my ankle now without a cast or anything after Today was my 2 and half week checkup.
Need advice...my husband has had a dvt in his leg below knee for three months. Last week he hit his shin at work and now leg is really swollen and purple especially on the heel. he has been on coumadin since initial diagnosis and also his doctor put him on lovenox shots for ten days. The lovenox was also given short term when he was diagnosed. There was another ultrasound done when he injured his leg and now they are not sure if he developed another clot or if this is the same clot.
we had sex about a week after i changed my pill to the desogestrel pill.
hi, i am taking ethinylestradiol/desogestrel richter 0.02 mg/0.15 mg, and i was supposed to start my 7 day pill free yesterday, but i forgot to, instead i started with my next strip of pill yesterday.. what should i suppose to do? should i stop taking the pill for the next 6 days and i will have my period in days or should i continue taking the pill for another 20 days?

I have been having this recurring fear that I have dvt, i have had a ultrasound and it was all clear, the pain was in my calf and once the ultrasound was clear I stopped worrying about it, I started again a few days ago with some calf pain, I think from working out and now I have started having "warmth" in my foot and thigh, I don't think it actually is warm to touch, I am just feeling the warmth.
While birth control is a risk factor, what you’re describing doesn’t sound like DVT symptoms. It sounds like possible lower back/nerve issues. DVT symptoms in the legs are acute onset of swelling with pain and tightness. This typically happens after an injury or an extended period of inactivity such as a long plane flight, car ride, or hospital stay.
Biggest risk is probably DVT from sitting so long.
Yeh moving interstate would like it to come b4 then but will wait wat is dvt
Now since 2 weeks I also have mucus in my stool and I get very worried. I also take thyroid medication for Hashimoto and Desogestrel all the time for the Endometriosis. It would be great if anyone could help me. I went by the doctor already though they tell me to just eat healthy, which I do since 7 years now.
