Avatar n tn My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.
Avatar m tn s mix with air. The IV injection RX i got is 25mg/ml 30ml vial, doctor wants me to start with 25mg that means when i take out 1ml of the ALA to mix in IV bag I will have to throw the rest away , that's wasting 90% of the medication. Does anyone heard of that? I can't find any supporting article saying about the iv any medical professional here can help?
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
Avatar n tn talk to your doctor about desmopressin, it works.
Avatar n tn today the consultant gave me tablets called desmopressin acetate. i understand they reduce urine amounts. will try but cant see them working well. Any new ideas or anyone with same prob please help.
Avatar m tn Is there a medication for Diabetes Insipidus other than Desmopressin? The headaches as a side affect are dibilitating. This discussion is related to peuatrygland diabetts.
Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn hi guys im just a little bit confuse about what doctor said that boiling has no effect on stability of HCV outside the body but this article said heat have a drastic effect on HCV life so that means boiling can kill HCV ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2834657/ ) HCVcc in culture medium was found to survive 37°C and room temperature (RT, 25 ± 2°C) for 2 and 16 days, respectively, while the virus was relatively stable at 4°C without drastic loss of infectivity for at least 6 weeks.
Avatar f tn I'm currently having a manic phase. I was just wondering, does anyone else get this when something exciting is going to happen? Like a trigger? I'm going to a spa for the night tomorrow (well today actually coz I'm still wide awake with the insomnia) and I'm not sure if it is just excitement or manic. I was going through depression, pretty badly, for about 2 weeks there and now it's like I'm invincible!! Iv never kept track of my moods and I'm unsure of my triggers.
Avatar m tn 27 acth (where normal goes up to 59 or something like that (from memory) The test was highly stressful, the nurse tried, painfully, to get an iv in him while saying stressful things - for 10 minutes. The baseline cortisol under extreme stress, where he was begging for it to end, crying, screaming - was 18. One hour later, after stimulation, his cortisol was 26. How does this look to you? Thanks!
Avatar m tn If still the symptoms persist then medical treatment with desmopressin, imipramine and anticholinergics can be tried. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.

Avatar n tn s hard to miss the vein unless they are very bad at it. Drink a lot of water so your veins swell and are easy to feel. Usually they put iv in the crook of my arm, like a blood test, because I have a very good vein there. They don't hurt me anymore unless the person is inexperienced and ends up digging around in my arm with the needle to find the vein.
