Avatar n tn My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
Avatar n tn talk to your doctor about desmopressin, it works.
Avatar n tn today the consultant gave me tablets called desmopressin acetate. i understand they reduce urine amounts. will try but cant see them working well. Any new ideas or anyone with same prob please help.
Avatar m tn Is there a medication for Diabetes Insipidus other than Desmopressin? The headaches as a side affect are dibilitating. This discussion is related to peuatrygland diabetts.
Avatar f tn hi just a question about steroid use. I dont have MS but was recently diagnosed with Autoimmune Encephalitis after having a brain biopsy 3 weeks ago. Several months ago I was on IVIG which really didn't help my symptoms, so now I'm going to try a trial of prednisone. My neurologist wants to start me on 60mg then slowly taper my dosage. I'm so nervous because I've been reading all the side effects to this large of a dose.
Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn They have more info on dosage now so it is probably more safe now than when you were born. Also through the IV it will help relieve pain in your whole body( but won't take pain away) so they probably won't let you walk around. I will be getting Demerol when I can't take the pain anymore because I want to walk around.
Avatar f tn I have been having no lucky in the past year absorbing my thyroid (synthroid) medication. They now want me to go up on my dosage from 900mcg's to 1,800mcg's, and I heard that is a very lethal amount. My TSH level is over 100 and my T4 level is .3 I think. What about other thyroid medications like Armour or cytomel? Need your opinion!
Avatar n tn There have been studies that Oral or IV makes little difference, but dosage does. Since the typical IV dose is 500-1000 mg per day. The largest oral tablet I am aware of is a 50 mg dose. The problem is that even in divided doses, trying to get down 10-20 50mg tablets is going to make most people pretty sick. Most neurologist go with the IVSM. Doses under 500 mg/day have had issues with limited effectiveness in many studies.

6359077 tn?1441486304 we have used liposomal glutathione from livonlabs (no gmo soy) or maxhealthlabs (the second no soy), obviously it is useless on hbv but extremely helpful in case of fibrosis and liver damage i guess liposomal is better than subcutaneous injection, maybe IV is superior but too complicated to have IV unless you are a nurse/dr yourself
Avatar n tn It went well, except on the third day in the hospital I developed atrial fib which returned to normal rhythm in seven hours with the help of an IV drip of amiodarone. I was released two days later and sent home with orders to take 200mg of amiodarone a day for three months. My strength is returning and i'm exercising about an hour each day with no ill effects. My blood pressure is good and I have a good appetite, The only other drug I'm currently taking is 80mg of pravachol daily.
Avatar m tn If still the symptoms persist then medical treatment with desmopressin, imipramine and anticholinergics can be tried. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn I had to take 80mg (20 mg 4 times a day) for about 2 weeks after 4 days of the IV steriod in the hospital. With a high dosage you might find your doctor tapering the dosage. I have known people who have taken a higher dosage.
Avatar m tn is the fasigyn dosage incorrect because iv read in so many places that ur suposd to take a 2g dose? and if i should have take 2g fasigyn can i take the remaining 1g the next day? would that be ok?
382218 tn?1341181487 While all my other March relapse symptoms improved following IV steroids, this one sypmtom has gotten worse. It was suggested to me on this forum that this may be a newer mini-relapse in and of itself. I do have some new lesions on my c-spine according to my latest MRI done in May; which does explain the source of this pain. I too am interested in reading Quix's post about combining meds.
Avatar f tn How long have you been on the cipralex? If not long maybe give it more time. If you have been on it for a long time talk to your doctor about upping the dosage or switching medication. I have health anxiety too. When you are having anxiety try to tell yourself.. I know I have anxiety, this is my actual condition that I do have. It is acting up now, breath through it. tell yourself. My doctors ran tests on me and I'M A HEALTHY YOUNG 22 YEAR OLD!!! YAY!
Avatar f tn Okay sooo I finished up my 5 day IV Infusion this past Monday (8/21) and I still feel all drugged up :(. In fact I almost feel worse than I did before I went in to start the process UGH! I can say that most of the numbness I had in my feet and legs has gotten better but now my left hand is going numb and I still get that annoying shock down my spinal cord when I look down, lhermittes sign . When I got done the steroids had my whole body tingling just standing there....so bizarre!
Avatar n tn s hard to miss the vein unless they are very bad at it. Drink a lot of water so your veins swell and are easy to feel. Usually they put iv in the crook of my arm, like a blood test, because I have a very good vein there. They don't hurt me anymore unless the person is inexperienced and ends up digging around in my arm with the needle to find the vein.
