Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar n tn I have Hepatitis C with Hemophilia-a. I was wondering if I should be taking Centrum Silver? This is the only Centrum that does not have Iron. I was taking regular Centrum that did have iron while I was on treatment. Also are there any other good vitamin supplements?
Avatar f tn t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
Avatar n tn talk to your doctor about desmopressin, it works.
Avatar f tn Also, does having hemophilia put me at a higher risk of getting it through sexual contact? I can only find information about blood transfusions regarding HIV and hemophiliacs. S.

The right move is to take your boy to the doctor -- an pediatrician or internist , who will need to make blood tests to diagnose the problem. Best wishes for your boy.
1926656 tn?1334970201 I'm supposed to have an appointment with a maternal fetal specialist. He wouldn't see me until I saw a hematologist/hemophilia center for a hereditary disorder I have. Saw the hematologist. They want mri's of my lungs and brain to rule out a bleed, and a bubble echo to rule out a hole in my heart (can happen with my disorder). They want to do all of this with the mf specialist appointment in one day. #1 I have to travel 2 hours to this place.
Avatar f tn Blood( red liquid) slowly seeps out of stool in toilet water. My colonoscopy was ok. Dr says a small fissure, another Dr says- no because I have no pain. I have been to three Drs to try to discover what is this, where does it come from. . FOBT is negative. Blood work is ok. Three times have had mid abdominal pain, very severe lasting 3-4 days. No relief after BM. but several throughout the day and evening. Which is a change for me. . Since Dec have lost about 12 lbs.Appetite is lessening.
Avatar m tn Is there a medication for Diabetes Insipidus other than Desmopressin? The headaches as a side affect are dibilitating. This discussion is related to peuatrygland diabetts.
Avatar m tn Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn A year and a half ago I was playing pick up basketball. I tore my ACL in the process. Well I had to have surgery and in doing so I needed blood products. They came in with a weird look on their face stating that I had tested positive for Hep C. I was blown away, I was like what? How could that be, I was tested 3 times a year by my doctor since I was a kid. They informed me that just because I tested positive didnt mean I had it. They had to test further.
148588 tn?1465778809 Medical researchers in Britain have successfully treated six patients suffering from the blood-clotting disease known as hemophilia B by injecting them with the correct form of a defective gene, a landmark achievement in gene therapy. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2011/12/11/MNE31MAVTD.
Avatar f tn However, if the family carries any recessive genes, and most do, there is a much higher than normal chance for these genes to be expressed in this situation. One example is albinism. Another would be hemophilia. Cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, and Tay Sachs are other types of recessive characteristics. A talk with a genetic counselor could shed some light on the more likely possibilites. Many problems can be tested for prenatally with amniocentesis and genetic testing.
Avatar f tn He said something like how the hypothalmus gets in shock at first from the trauma and needs DDAVP, but then it recovers. Now in your case (just as mine), I know what you mean when you say you go to the bathroom alot AND get thirsty when off the pill, as do I. But see, when you urinate ALOT, you will get thirsty...And, it's possible that one on this pill can be urinating alot when the next dose is near, because that dose is waring off. Which means, the retained water, is being released!
895634 tn?1283989210 Dr. put my odds of SVR at 90%, but I take nothing for granted. Next appointment in 4 weeks to check a 4 week SVR possibility. If I can successfully treat than anyone can. I had so many obstacles (HIV, cirrhosis, hemophilia, low platelets, chronic nausea, 35 lb weight loss, a painful kidney stone, and an unsupportive spouse soon to be an ex spouse). I only missed a handful of workdays mostly for appts. For some reason the last week was the hardest side effect wise.
Avatar f tn Hi my Husband got up form taking a nap and he had blood in his urine no pian any where he wont let me take him to see a doctor what could it be Bonnie
895634 tn?1283989210 s (44 now), physically feel better than ever, HIV undetectable, and hematologist encouraging me to participate in gene therapy trial for hemophilia cure. Addition by subtraction spouse-wise. I learned who I can count on in tough times and she was not one of them. If you are spooked by the thought of treating, I had all the odds stacked against me. failed attempt, HIV, cirrhosis, bleeding disorder, low platelets etc. I had a rough time, but it could have been much worse.
Avatar f tn I have had a sinuse infection for almost 2 weeks it seems like. In the past couple of days I have noticed I keep blowing blood out my nose. I get chronic nose bleeds from a blood vessel so I know it's not that. Why do I keep seeing blood which seems to come from no where?
