Avatar n tn today the consultant gave me tablets called desmopressin acetate. i understand they reduce urine amounts. will try but cant see them working well. Any new ideas or anyone with same prob please help.
Avatar n tn My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
Avatar n tn talk to your doctor about desmopressin, it works.
Avatar n tn i used prednesolone acetate eye drops prescribed by my doctor, as i had redness of eye and inflmation. after using it it reduced and every thing was normal. But after 3 or 4 years, i had horrible pain in my hips. and when i consulted a bone speciliest, he said that cartilage in my hip joint is woren out, and there are symptoms of artharities, bone is getting woren out due to bone rubbing against each other, due to some steroid or some drug, So can Predesolone acetate be the cause for it.
Avatar f tn I got the prescription from the doctor to take 10mg/day of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE. However, since I started taking the medicine too late, 2 days after I took the medicine, I still had my period, so I stopped taking it. On May 13th, I had unprotected sex. My question is: is it safe to get pregnant within a month after taking 20mg of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE? Many thanks!
Avatar m tn Is there a medication for Diabetes Insipidus other than Desmopressin? The headaches as a side affect are dibilitating. This discussion is related to peuatrygland diabetts.
Avatar m tn One example is Medroxyprogesterone acetate, which is an antiandrogen. This is used in cases where men feel that they cannot control their sexual impulses. The Medroxyprogesterone acetate will control urges and also may diminish pre-occupation which should make it easier to practice self-control.
172023 tn?1334672284 Diabetes Insipidus can occur with other diseases and is very controllable with Desmopressin Acetate. The cognitive disorder drug Anipryl can also be helpful for polyuria/polydipsia (excessive drinking and urination) as it's side-effect. Another uncommon possibility is psychogenic polydipsia and just means that your dog may have a behavioral drinking problem.

Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.

Avatar f tn Okay, first of all, both of these drugs are interferons. That means that it modulates the immune system response to reduce the number of relapses. Both drugs are sub-cutaneous injectables, which means an injection every other day with a very small needle. (This may sound terrible, but it's not so bad. The injection is painless.) I've recently become disenchanted with interferons in general, especially Betaseron.
Avatar m tn If still the symptoms persist then medical treatment with desmopressin, imipramine and anticholinergics can be tried. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn I've read a lot of postings that sound similar to what I have and thought I'd maybe give some hope to someone. I was diagnosed with PVCs and PACs many years ago. They occurred infrequently, and echo came out fine. I was told not to worry about them unless they became a problem. They would come and go for months at a time. Over the years I felt them more and more, though. Eventually they got to the point where they came back and never left.
378497 tn?1232143585 Treatment with glatiramer acetate or the interferon may limit the number of new black holes that became permanent; i.e., reduce progression of brain atrophy, and the interferon seemed to be slightly better at it. There is no control (i.e., untreated) group for comparison of how well the ************** worked vs. no treatment at all.
