Ddavp for bleeding

Common Questions and Answers about Ddavp for bleeding

ddavp

Avatar f tn I have used a nasal spray (DDAVP) for three weeks, but the bleeding did not stop. I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding. I have also tried a estrogen pill I was prescribed, but it has not helped. I know I will have light bleeding on the Depo Provera, but is it normal to be bleeding for 37 days?
Avatar f tn How do you wean off the medicine DDAVP? I've been taking this medicine for many years only to find out my tests say I don't need it (I had small injury to pituitary in brain). Unfortunately I find it almost impossible to wean off because it makes you go to the bathroom ALOT after the medicine ware's off! since it's an anti diuretic/water retaining pill! Confusing and tricky.
Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn Birth control pills do not work to stop the bleeding at this time I am taking two seasonale pills daily and estrogen to try to control bleeding, but I have been bleeding for a month now. Hematologist has done tests to rule out vonwildebrands disease and other bleeding disorders, all sonograms show no gynecological problems., Have had multiple tests to check hormone function-all have showed no problems, currently cannot do any tests.
Avatar n tn My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.
1216899 tn?1288570325 ve already had one surgery for a CSF leak and am going back to California in May for another round of testing to see if it has come back and they can pinpoint it- I dunno if you have this though just throwing it out at you since you are in the process of being diagnosed. Hope you feel better.
Avatar m tn How long did it take for your diabetes insipidus to resolve? how long did it take for your doctor to prescribe testosterone? My endo refuses to prescribed the testosterone as he says that should recover by itself, however I am exhausted all day. I am on ddavp (sublingual pill) and 10mg of prednisone.
1363339 tn?1338771053 I don’t take it regularly because I find it hard for me to balance out between hypo and hyper. I become tired with it. I always try to minimize stress as much as possible, laugh as much as possible, because I know stress make this disease worse and I’ve experienced it quite well if I got stressed out. Is it right that hormone insufficiencies can only be noticeable or come into effect sometime later.
Avatar m tn We have a 7 year old colllie just diagnosed with Diabetes Insipetes (nephrogenic). Vet recommends treatment with ddavp eye drop. All the information we can find says that this is "very expensive". Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?
Avatar m tn Hello~First, your friend needs to be examined by the GP, there could be some reasons for this such as Diabetes, urinary track issues, infections, or other issues with the kidneys and/or bladder. There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea.
Avatar f tn The tumor was germinoma. Yes u are right it was the optic nerve. I don't know for sure if my pituitary gland still functions I take ddavp, I also took growth hormones in the past and I take l cortef. But I'm not sure. Thanks so much I have a docs visit soon and Ill ask him more about my tumor. Thanks again for your help. And about the scar tissue he wants another MRI and then him and other docs will decide to do a biopsy or something els.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has experienced diabetes insipidus? The reason for the test is because I have been extremely thirsty and urinating almost every 1.5 hours a day. I received a copy of the test results. They tested my ADH level (arginine vasopressin) The results are L<1.0 Range:1.0-13.3 They say there are different types of diabetes insipidus, basically that the kidneys are doing what they are supposed to do or a pituitary issue.
Avatar f tn You should be in the hands of a pediatric endocrinologist for her care, let them decide about the ddavp, this may be masking or exacerbating some of her symptoms.
Avatar m tn ive never went this much during the night..i had to go get on some meds called ddavp to slow it down so i can sleep..
Avatar n tn 5 years old beautiful and full of joy English Setter Mia from the Rescue Shelter. After having her for a few days, we discovered that she has urine incontinence and often leaking while resting or sleeping. She is also unreasonably consuming allot of water, just like she has run for a long time.
Avatar f tn This is caused because your pituitary gland is not making enough Anti-diuretic Hormone. The medication used for this is called Dessmopressin or DDAVP. It is available in a pill form, nasal spray or injection. There are a few other conditions that can mimic this so it is important to get it ruled in or out. I have this and without medication I am also up every half hour drinking and peeing.i rec that you see a neuro endo to rule this out, your other pituitary hormones, and have a current MRI.
1546654 tn?1294411026 Im on Prednisone for the nausea and headaches, Desomopression for diabetus Insipitus, and synthroid for hypothroidism. Thats from the pit tumor.... 1608004 tn?1390770990 thanks for your advise will keep posting about her til she´s better. I have worked for over a year as a volunteer for a woman who takes in abandoned and abused animals (cats and dogs) so i have a little knowledge.
Avatar f tn In my experience, a neurologist is not a pituitary doc... and you really need a competent pituitary endo - so you need a pituitary center. I get tests quarterly and I take a heck of a lot more thyroid which may be a consideration for you - as they may be thinking your TSH is low (it is now post op pit) but they have to look at all the thyroid tests too to see what you really need and my docs like the upper ends of the ranges, not low or mid range. I feel like crud otherwise.
16141151 tn?1445607578 5mm but it was apparently found to be a bit bigger once the surgeon removed it, and that he did not have to remove any part of the pituitary, although he did have to manipulate it a bit. I had this tumour for about 12 years and recently started having issues and side effects from the meds (tried dostinex, bromocriptine, and norprolac, all of which caused icky side effects and did not effectively lower my prolactin levels).
Avatar f tn Hi, I was just diagnosed with a 6 mm HGH pituitary tumor and am being scheduled for surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee. I have been told that 3 to 4 pit surgeries are performed there per week. Am I with a good hospital for this? I have been reading everything I can get my hands on regarding my condition and am so happy I found this site.
186737 tn?1269884660 Supine BP is between 120/70 - 135/80. Standing BP may drop to 70/40. ~2 months ago she started DDAVP and Octreotide and those have helped her substantially, however, she still has a very low exercise tolerance, shortness of breath wiht only little exertion, and some syncope. Could she still have carcinoid tumors in spite of the negative octreotide scan and is there a better scanning technique than an octreotide scan for detecting carcinoid tumors?
Avatar n tn s, uroligists and a counselor and all of them are as puzzled as we are becuase they have no idea why she is continuing to pee. She does pee her pants at night but her pediatrition put her on DDAVP and that seems to be helping the night time weting but as for the day time weting we are at a loss. my husband and I have tryed everything to get her to stop peeing her pants from encouragement to punishment.
Avatar n tn Thyroid, cortisol, DDAVP, and Growth Hormone. Also, for a while, I also used transdermal estrogen/progesterone. I am 46 and opted to just go through menopause since I did not want kids. Pros for me:since the surgery:I've been able to lose 50#, I control my hormones now rather than the cyst.
596605 tn?1369946627 Hi Russ- Thanks. I've been looking into this a bit. And yes it is the worst pain that you can imagine! The Trigeminal nerve has several branches. There is one branch that passes through the area where I may have some damage from my Pituitary stuff. But no, I am not having pain to the side of the face or features of pain from the other branches of the Trigiminal Nerve. I will look into MVP's.
