Hey there and thanks for responding! Ok, first off-the reason why my endocrinologist thinks I don't need my ddavp pill anymore is because he said my sodium level has never went low (I think he said it gets either extremely low or high when you have diabetes insipidus). I also went for a urine test called urine specific gravity right before I take my next dose of the pill. He said it came back fine/normal-which I think ment my urine was fine without the pill.

Mine is partial so it ebbs and flows a bit and I do have to adjust my DDAVP dose sometimes. Without DDAVP my fluid consumption is 4 or more gallons a day. At first, I kept a fluid intake and output diary. Also I weighed myself every morning to see if I was taking to much medication and/or not consuming the right amount of fluids. And yes, for me the best approach has ended up to take DDAVP just at night so that I can sleep without having to get up every 1/2 hour to drink and pee.

I only need to take a very small dose of DDAVP at night so that I am not getting up every hour to pee/drink. But now I can sleep! By day I just chug lots of fluids (2+ gallons) The hubby lovingly calls me a frat boy :) If you get diagnosed and if you go onto DDAVP, you will need really close supervision by a doctor as folks will have a tendency to overdo it on the DDAVP and overhydrate themselves. Until then drink lots!

One of the ways we would try to determine this was by prescribing DDAVP (if there were not any issues that would prevent using it). Desmopressin (trade names: DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. I think I've brought up DI before with you. When I was on higher levels of opiates for pain it seemed to ease up my DI symptoms. Now that I'm off of the higher dose my DI is now in full-swing. So I have to take DDAVP most of the time now. Before I used to be able to get away with only taking it at night. Maybe this is part of what is going on. I don't really have answer per se, but just an idea on why it might fluctuate more if u have it.

My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.

After parathyroid surgery, pins and needles sensation occurs due to low calcium and lasts for a long time, requiring prolonged calcium supplementation. I want to ask abt dose of IV ROCEPHIN.my mother dianosed Als on emg in 2009.in our country there is no test available 4 lyme.but i want to gv her rocephin.

We have a 7 year old colllie just diagnosed with Diabetes Insipetes (nephrogenic). Vet recommends treatment with ddavp eye drop. All the information we can find says that this is "very expensive". Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?

I have to do 6 months of iv steroids. 3 days every month with NO taper! I have just finished my second round...and I'm ready to through in the towel. The side affects of the steroids are at this point almost not worth doing. They are trying to prevent a relapse since I am not on any MS therapy. Anyone else going through anything similar? I can't handle the fatigue, shakes, fever, redness, pain, nightsweats, constipation, irritability, overall feeling of crap!

i was diagnosed with panic disorder 2 years ago and iv been takin .5 mg(half pill) of xanax twice a day in the first year then my doctor reduced it to .25 pill a day ,,,,,yesterday i took a .5 mg pill by mistake(thought it was the .25)_ i'm just worried is it ok ? or should i tell my doctor about it ? I have been told I am going to get started on a 3 day course of IV steroids. I would like to ask those of you that have had this what they felt like during and after they had it? Did anyone have any adverse side effects? Did you feel they helped reduce the flare up?

The tumor was germinoma. Yes u are right it was the optic nerve. I don't know for sure if my pituitary gland still functions I take ddavp, I also took growth hormones in the past and I take l cortef. And about the scar tissue he wants another MRI and then him and other docs will decide to do a biopsy or something els.

There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.

What dose bump mean?

I have used a nasal spray (DDAVP) for three weeks, but the bleeding did not stop. I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding. I have also tried a estrogen pill I was prescribed, but it has not helped. I know I will have light bleeding on the Depo Provera, but is it normal to be bleeding for 37 days?

we have used liposomal glutathione from livonlabs (no gmo soy) or maxhealthlabs (the second no soy), obviously it is useless on hbv but extremely helpful in case of fibrosis and liver damage i guess liposomal is better than subcutaneous injection, maybe IV is superior but too complicated to have IV unless you are a nurse/dr yourself

There could be a number of factors. The dose could be too low. 5mg is not a standard dose. Usually I hear of 15 to 30mg! It could be taken at the wrong time (why the trouble sleeping). You may also need florinef to hold on to salt as it is essentially a salt-wasting disease and the sodium levels are still too low to feel well.

Well I had a 5 day dose of IV steroids and let me just say I was like super women....The first 2 days I was on serious over drive ...I really probably should of asked for some type of sleeping aide ...I did take two Benadryl pills and drank a cold beer every night to make me sleepy I know probably not the best combo but I needed some sleep ...and still some nights I was wide awake...

Medrol (methyprednisolone) is identical to Solumedrol, but is the oral form. When we get IV infusions we get 1000mg of it. Each pill in the dose pack is 4 mg. You take 6 tabs the first day, and then 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 the following days. (24mg, 20mg, 16mg, 12mg, 8mg, 4mg). Long ago they established that the lower dose dose not afford the relief in MS, likely because it is not enough to establish any meaningful levels within the brain and spinal cord.

Is it just a saline IV or is there other stuff in there also? When I have had saline IV for any reason I have felt incredibly good. I have thought about the port b/c my old doc, who retired, was doing those. But I am nervous about infection. I don't faint though so I think that if I were in your shoes I would do the same thing. I hope you have recovered from the recent fall and seizure.
