Avatar f tn I am on week 11 of treatment, interferon and riba, about 2 weeks ago, my scalp started to get very itchy, I have used a variety of different shampoos for dandruff, none seem to work on helping the itch. It seems to be worse in the evening when I'm finally relaxing. Is this common and does anyone have any suggestions?
1654177 tn?1319838494 My head has been crazy itchy and my hair is dry as straw. I did a conditioning treatment with olive oil mixed in mayonaisse. Put a plastic cap on my head and sat under the dryer for about 15 minutes, then washed it out. After that, then only thing I put in my hair was oil. There is one called Hott Sixx oil that can be used on your skin and on your hair. This helped with the overall itching but the hair is constant maintenance, which I am guessing has more to do with dehydration.
Avatar m tn First, to sooth my scalp, I am using chemical-free shampoos and conditioners (often with tea tree). I use them after a dandruff treatment, the t/gel dandruff shampoo set that contains 3 types of dandruff control, all of them are anti-fungal. I also use tea tree or sea buckthorn soap, which are natural antibacterials. (not sure that is needed, now i think it is a fungus). To sooth my skin, I use jojoba oil and chemical-free lotions. The olive oil hair product from Hollywood Products also helps.
Avatar f tn Wen my kids had it i used olive oil. I used to use baby oil bt it wasnt working n it was cumin bck. Dnt scratch it out jus gently comb it out due to the baby soft spot..
Avatar n tn I have had dandruff in my hair.. it increases during winter. what should I do for this?
Avatar f tn ve experienced extremely dry and flaky scalp. Can you look at these photos and tell me what it is? Dry scalp, dandruff, scalp psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis. The bad part is, I just washed my hair on Monday night. I washed it, conditioned it, put a little of olive oil (food-grade), then I braided my hair in about 8 plaits. I have to wash my hair every week b/c of my scalp. I'm unable to wear twist-outs/braid-outs or any hairstyle that requires me to wear my hair out.
277836 tn?1359666174 Okay I ned help my cat has dandruff and I am pretty sure it is coming from the lack of dry air here in the house it has been very cold.. Avatar f tn I had a lump at the base of my neck swollen lymph node,"that just felt bad and worried me", it was tested and neg for" cancer but I had it removed anyway. It did not hurt, yours does. I would first take a picture of it (cell phoe behind the ear, click) so you can see it clearly to scrutinize it. Does it look or feel crusty, scab ? Blistery? Red? Oosing? Can it be drained? Cancer is a real scare so is MRSA.
Avatar n tn Try using extra virgin olive oil on your Skin and hair. Use it as a conditioner to reduce dandruff and provide some moisture to the scalp. Wash it out the next day, but keep treating your hair with it to help with itchy, dry scalp. I think that's why a hot sauna worked best for your condition...the moisture.
Avatar f tn Yes I would suggest using a head and shoulders type shampoo for dandruff (you may not have dandruff but the itchyness can be apart of that) if it persists, I'd suggest maybe going to the doctors, they may be able to prescribe something for it.
5739386 tn?1378836460 Lol cradle cap is dandruff on an infant use olive oil and a comb for a couple of days to get rid of it. Baby oil works too but olive oil is better.
Avatar n tn t seem to have made much of a dent in the dandruff. Like I said, the dandruff is minimal on some days and heavier on other days with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I've tried adding some olive oil to his food, and even rubbing some on him because I read it might help, but really when I massaged some olive oil into his skin it almost seemed to make the dandruff worse. What do you all think? I have read they sell dog balm and dog moisturizers, which I'd never even heard of before.
Avatar f tn I dyed my hair while on treatment. Did it just when I had too, since my hair got very dry. It didn't seem to impact treatment. Some people have more severe hair loss and problems then I didn though.
1282085 tn?1271747516 It has been taking a hold of my life and altering the decisions I make. I would like to know the very best treatment options to getting rid of this forever if at all possible. How did I figure out how I had Seborrheic dermatitis..well it was via a military doctor who changed my diagnosis that rendered me entry into the military back in 2005. I am sick and tired of the dry scalp and face peeling.
Avatar n tn Will switching to a Selsun blue or dandruff shampoo help? What should I do about the pink flaky skin around my hairline? Any help is much appreciated. Its not itchy or irritating but it does not look good and I hate having flaking.
Avatar f tn I really hope you can help me. We have a male Boston Terrier who will be 7 in July. He's had allergies in the past that caused some yeast problems on the folds of his face and ear trouble, and he seems to have grown out of them or something - in the past 2 years he's had no issues with any of that. He'd been eating Beneful Healthy Weight formula for several years.
Avatar f tn My tiny dog has so much dry skin. Its beyond considering it dandruff. I've been giving him flee baths about once a week. Maybe a little less then that. What could I put on his skin that could help this problem?
Avatar f tn Hi, my daughter is 3 months old. She has had problems with an itchy scalp. Recently it has gotten worse. She itches all the time. We have shown her to the PCP 2 times and the first one said she thought it was eczema and asked us to shampoo regularly and to give her a hair wash regularly. The 2nd one said she could not see anything and asked us to keep skin dry. We have tried cetaphil, seldom blue shampoo, olive oil on scalp but the itching hasn't subsided. It just keeps getting worse.

Avatar f tn They used to use castor oil or olive oil rubbed in then use a tooth comb to pick it out and an appropiate shampoo after wards, there are things OTC now that may help, I do not know about the one you mention in your post, a drug store may have a pharmasist can advise.
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.

Avatar m tn Then I recently contracted pneumonia and was given a round of strong antibiotics. My dandruff disappeared on the 7th day of my antibiotic treatment and has not returned for a couple of weeks now. This makes no sense to me, as I know that dandruff is not bacterial in nature. Do you have an explanation for this?
