Other causes are stress, fungal infections, alopecia aereata, hormonal imbalance(overproduction of dihydrotestosterone and thyroid hormones irregularities),malnutrition, telogen effluvium and sebum plugs on skin. My sincere advice is to consult a trichologist and get these possibilities ruled out.

My scalp has also been very dry and itchy with dandruff. I never had any of these problems before Doryx and so of course I stopped about a week ago. My hair is at least half of what it was last year. Please help someone if you know anything? How devastating as a woman to have to go through this. If losing hair was listed as a side effect (like it should be), I would not have taken this. One has to rule out alopecia areata, hair loss due to mechanical causes ( like frequent styling) and even iron deficiency. Iron levels and thyroid hormone levels need to be assessed. Deficient iron,Vit B complex and zinc may lead to hair loss and dry scalp. Hypothyroidism may also present with hair loss.

Have you been to a dermatologist or endocrinologist yet? They could run some bloodwork on you and see what your hormones are doing. By iron level do you mean Ferritin level? Hairloss is tough to figure out. They are starting to do more research lately (long overdue) on the causes. I don't know if your hairloss is autoimmune or hormonal or both.
