2078979 tn?1332206668 Selaun blue is AWESOME there's also this stuff and I can never remember what its called but its tar something or the other and obviously its brown. I find mine at Walmart and they have an equate brand. It is also amazing. I personally like the way it smells (I'm weird I also like the way laquer thinner smells) anyway it smells like tar but girl.it is awesome too! I don't have dandruff but I have always had a sensitive scalp and too many scents in a shampoo male my scalp break.
Avatar f tn I use to have this with progressing scalp odor. The only thing that helped me was to begin using shampoos without sodium lauryl or laureth sulfate or ammonium lauryl or laureth sulfate. These chemicals give some sensitive scalp people 'scalp scurf'. Mild natural shampoos can be found at the health store or online.
Avatar f tn Yes I would suggest using a head and shoulders type shampoo for dandruff (you may not have dandruff but the itchyness can be apart of that) if it persists, I'd suggest maybe going to the doctors, they may be able to prescribe something for it.

Avatar m tn t hurt unless i scratch it or touch it. Then it feels sensitive and kind of painful and the pain stays there until i forget about it. Just wondering if I should be worried/ what it might be? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info! I have tried some of the shampoos with salicylic acid or coal tar - all it did was make my scalp worse- sort of firery sore and super itchy. that's why I think its dry scalp and not dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis - the symptoms just don't fit. my hair and scalp are dry, not greasy - even if i go 3 days between shampoos my hair is not greasy. the flakes are small and white and not oily.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have the same thing that you have. I have red bumps on the right side of my scalp and I am very scared. What should I do?
Avatar n tn A friend had psoriasis and it looked like big flakes coming from his scalp. Maybe you could ask the doctor (or a different doctor) whether this could be the case for you.
Avatar f tn m going off of what I vaguely remember lol. There are 3 causes for dandruff dry scalp, oily scalp, and a fungus. The condition of your scalp is what is going to tell u which treatment to use. One remedy is ad easy as shampooing everyday and using less conditioner on your scalp. You should also try using a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.
1486982 tn?1289461783 I have had an itchy scalp and dandruff. My hair is healthy and becomes oily very easily. I have picked up some Tgel, but wanted to know if nayone had any other options on what works. Head and shoulders does nothing but make my hair very oily. ANy suggestions woudl be appreciated.
Avatar f tn When I was in 4th grade I started noticing dandruff in my bangs. I could see the dry skin there and growing up it was only in my bangs but over the years I noticed it going more over the top of my scalp. Sometimes it'd be worse and my hair would itch bad and I'd have dandruff and I thought it was maybe just in winter when it's more dry but about 2years ago when I was living in MS on the gulf (not dry area at all) it was horrible (winter and summer)!
Avatar f tn You can tell its dandruff or dry scalp by the colour and if there is a smell present or not. Dandruff is yellowish and gives off an odour.
Avatar n tn I have gone to the dermatologist and been told it just a dry spot and not fungal and given some moisturizers and cortisone, but did not seem to help much. I have even tried ketaconazole, it reduces the flaking, but the redness is still there. The hair in the area of the rash is not falling out. Thanks for any help or suggestion regarding this.
Avatar m tn I also have a completely unrelated skin problem that affects my hands and sometimes my feet after they have been washed or been wet and then dried. They become extremely sensitive to touching most objects and materials and the only way to relieve the horrible sensation is to get them wet or moist again either by licking my hands, using moistureiser or touching something wet or damp. And even then, once they are dry again, the agony returns.
Avatar f tn If that is helpful you could take magnesium supplements like mag citrate and vitamin D3. We are so deficient in vitamins and minerals now that the soil is so depleted. So that's why we get skin problems.
Avatar f tn This causes the harmless bacteria that live in the scalp to proliferate and feed off the oil, which produces the odor and may make the hair greasy. Secondly it can be due to dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff.
Avatar m tn I've always had issues with Dry Scalp and Dandruff, particularly during the winter. Over the past couple years, I've also developed some sort of scalp sores that when picked at tend to bleed. They seem to continually come back. I've tried a number of shampoos - Head and Shoulders, Nizoral, Aveda Pureformance, T/Gel, American Crew, etc. with varying results.
Avatar m tn Started from three days ago, I can feel that I have several redness bumps with itchy sensation spread around the scalp and majority are at occipital and temporal bone area, and two on the right and left frontal hairline. They stated from inion and back of both ears then go up. These bumps are really itchy and moderately swollen. I never had this kind symptom before. I have dandruff since I was litte until now, sometime it is seasonal. I eat unhealthy sometimes, I live outside so.
Avatar n tn t wash your hair more than needed, over washing can dry out your scalp. Try a coconut oil mask and concentrate it at your scalp/ roots then leave it in for 30 minutes or overnight. You can also buy masks from beauty stores as well.
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm a 20 year old male and during the fall season of 2012 my scalp started really iching and my hair started to shed severely around the crown region. During this time I also had dandruff. This itchyness and dandruff persisted for about another 3 months, that's when I jumped on Nizoral 1%. It stopped the dandruff and the itching, but till this day I'm shedding and its very noticable. My hairloss started at the crown and has worked its way up to my hairline.
Avatar n tn There is hair loss with visible scalp disease and there is hair loss without scalp disease. In your case, the hair loss may be associated with both the fungal infection and another underlying condition of seborrheic dermatitis. At this point, there is really no effective medical therapy for hair loss. If your hair loss is associated with tinea and seborrheic dermatitis then the underlying disorders need to be addressed first. Hair loss also has a genetic basis.
