Avatar m tn Cyclosporin (brand name Atopica) is a relatively new oral medication which can be used as a non-steroid way to reduce allergic skin inflammation and itching. It is helpful in approximately 80% of allergic dogs to control itch. Cyclosporin is given orally daily for 4-6 weeks, then the dose and frequency is slowly decreased to the lowest possible dose needed for comfort.
Avatar m tn she was taking cyclosporin dosage of 100mg bd, which was increased after 10 days(January 4, 2010) to 150/100mg bid . her SGOT/SGPT level started rising from December 28, 2009 they started fluctuating till Feb 8,2010. Avatar m tn UV treatment uses ultra-violet rays to bombard your body to help dry out the histamine in your skin. I tried UV treatment for about a half a year at first going a couple times a week or once a week. While it was working at first and gave me a nice tan my treatments tended to leave my skin feeling very dry after I received it. Also, I find out that the treatments tend to only help your body dry out the histamine that's in your skin for that point in time.
Avatar f tn org/Thygeson%C2%B4s_superficial_punctate_keratitise You will note both the cause and the treatment remain uncertain. Steroids are the mainstay. I would suggest a trial of cyclosporin (Restasis) as it is much safer long term because of the steroid side effects of cataracts, glaucoma and cornea infection. Not in some cases it has lasted 30-40 years and is more commin in females. So you are probably asking for trouble continuing to wear contacts.
Avatar m tn During BMT she had moderate veno occlusive disease and she recovered. She was using Tab cyclosporin as immunosuppresant. She had some anomalies in her SGOT and SGPT. Last HCV RNA quantitative was done on March 30 2010 and the result was 12100000IU/ML. LFT results were as given below. Date total bilirubin Direct bilirubin Total protein Serum albumin SGOT/SGPT Alk.phos Cyclosporin dose 22.3.10 1.4 0.4 6.3 4.
Avatar f tn I started losing hair several weeks into treatment. I lost about half of my hair on treatment and it continued to fall out for several weeks/months after I finished treatment. It gradually stopped falling out over the months following the end of treatment. After several months, it began to grow back in. I don't know if your hair loss is from the Hepatitis C treatment drugs but is is possible.
Avatar f tn It is usually not advisable to get in the sun when on treatment or too soon after treatment. The meds are known to make people sensitive to the sun and can cause and/or aggravate rash and skin problems. If it was me I would go and see a Dermatologist and have him/her examine you, take a good history, so any tests or biopsies that may be needed, and prescribe appropriate medication for it.
Avatar m tn Your issue may not be psoriasis. You want to get the correct diagnosis and treatment. You also want to be sure that the skin problems are not a manifestation of a deeper systemic immune problem. You can get a lot of skin issues with immune diseases so you need to be sure that you do not have one of the other immune disorders as the cause of the skin issue. So seeing a dermatologist ASAP is important.
Avatar f tn The ER doctor diagnosed me with Herpes Keratitis yesterday. I had been taking Restasis(Cyclosporin eye drops BID) and had many of the symptoms of side effects of that drug including low neutraphils, redness and swelling of eyelids, itching, feeling of foreign object in my eye, pain on administration of drops. I believe this is a drug reaction not Herpes Keratitis. What do you think?
Avatar n tn Hello, There are many treatment options for psoriasis, chief ones being cognitive behavior therapy, creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone, fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues and retinoids and phototherapy and photochemotherapy. Psoriasis that is resistant to topical treatment and phototherapy is treated by medications that are taken internally by pill or injection.
Avatar m tn He told us to wait till the cyclosporin is stopped. When the cyclosporin was stopped, we waited for 45 days and had a HCV quantitative done. It was 1420000IU/ML ie 88% less than the last test conducted and SGOT/SGPT levels were 60/109. I had also gone through some articles on HCV which stated that out of 100 people who gets infected, 15 will get rid of the virus without any treatment.

429171 tn?1205560206 Hi, Thank you so much for the reply..I've been going for physical therapy since oct 2007 until present..Medications can trigger psoriasis? I'm just wondering what kind of medication? As I can remember my psoriasis started while I was on prednisone.
Avatar f tn It can be treated but it commonly has recurrences also and there are no home remedies for psoriasis. So a regular treatment is required for this. Treatment options include Ointment and creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids,Psoralen+UVA and PUVB therapy. Over time, psoriasis can become resistant to a specific therapy.
