Common Questions and Answers about Cyclosporin psoriasis

restasis

Avatar f tn Had silver nitrate treatment x 2. Now am on 1% Cyclosporin, which burns like acid. Nothing has even begun to work.He said the next step was to have ocular surgery where the mast cells are literally scraped off, but he said it's not always successful. I continue to have extreme photophobia and feel like I have gravel under my eye lids. Please advise as to treatment, as am one miserable and discouraged woman.
Avatar m tn There are two other drops like Restasis, xiidra which patients do not like and is very expensive and Cequa which is same medicine as restasis but stronger concentration. Ask you ophthalmologist about Restasis (cyclosporin) think it just became available as generic.
Avatar m tn she was taking cyclosporin dosage of 100mg bd, which was increased after 10 days(January 4, 2010) to 150/100mg bid . her SGOT/SGPT level started rising from December 28, 2009 they started fluctuating till Feb 8,2010. After Feb the SGPT levels shoot up and it was highest of 218/398 on March 22, 2010. it should be also kept in mind that cyclosporin also have a tendency to effect the liver and increase in LFT levels.
Avatar f tn s cauterized and have had silver nitrate brushed across the back of both eyes. Now am taking 1% cyclosporin, which burns like fire for about a minute. Question - has anyone had success in treating this miserable condition? I am so discouraged as feel the photophobia and gritty feeling in my eyes is never going to go away. Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar m tn Cyclosporin (brand name Atopica) is a relatively new oral medication which can be used as a non-steroid way to reduce allergic skin inflammation and itching. It is helpful in approximately 80% of allergic dogs to control itch. Cyclosporin is given orally daily for 4-6 weeks, then the dose and frequency is slowly decreased to the lowest possible dose needed for comfort.
Avatar m tn ve had experience with prednisone and cyclosporin and read about Xolair. I will explain all of them in due time. During my hospitalization the doctors prescribed me with prednisone and it almost seem to work like magic relieving my skin. The skin began to dry out and the itching was completely gone! (I was amazed by this, first time in 20 years I did not feel itchy at all.. I actually almost cried because of it). Later I found out my dermatologist at Brigham wasn't very happy with this.
Avatar f tn org/user_journals/show/1648149/General-information-on-dry-eyes-tears-dysfunction-syndrome Both my wife and I have very dry eyes and both of us have been on Restasis (cyclosporin) for years with excellent results. I understand from postings from the UK this is difficult to get there.
Avatar m tn He told us to wait till the cyclosporin is stopped. When the cyclosporin was stopped, we waited for 45 days and had a HCV quantitative done. It was 1420000IU/ML ie 88% less than the last test conducted and SGOT/SGPT levels were 60/109. I had also gone through some articles on HCV which stated that out of 100 people who gets infected, 15 will get rid of the virus without any treatment.
Avatar f tn The ER doctor diagnosed me with Herpes Keratitis yesterday. I had been taking Restasis(Cyclosporin eye drops BID) and had many of the symptoms of side effects of that drug including low neutraphils, redness and swelling of eyelids, itching, feeling of foreign object in my eye, pain on administration of drops. I believe this is a drug reaction not Herpes Keratitis. What do you think?
510373 tn?1211003050 My dog has had the same smelly, red areas on her belly. Then eventually her hair started to fall out. Since then she has been put on cyclosporin, a human medicine to prevent rejection to people with organ transplants. She has gotten much better, but I also have to bathe her 2 time/week. She is getting there. skin infections are very common in Boston's. Good luck!
2093628 tn?1332979308 I have a 5 yr old rescue long haired chi mix that has neurogenic KCS (dry eye) adopted 10/2011. We've gone thru the university vet school ophthamology treatments (cyclosporin, tacrolimus, and pilocarpine drops) since 10/11 with no response. We are currently treating with gels, drops, and ointments throughout the day and antibiotic ointment as needed. The next step appears to be having his eye removed. Has anyone had this done?
Avatar n tn He is on Prednizone and Cyclosporin. She raised the Cyclosporin level to 800mg twice a day. When she raised his meds before, he started turning jaundice. Now at 800 mg twice a day he has become more jaundice. She refuses to change the medication or even think that it could be the medication causing this. How can tell if it is the medication? If it is, how can I get her to change the medications? What can I do?
Avatar f tn I would suggest a trial of cyclosporin (Restasis) as it is much safer long term because of the steroid side effects of cataracts, glaucoma and cornea infection. Not in some cases it has lasted 30-40 years and is more commin in females. So you are probably asking for trouble continuing to wear contacts. You should place yourself under the care of an ophthalmologist Eye MD that specializes in cornea and external disease.
Avatar m tn I have not felt well since and to top it all I have just been diagnosed with psoriasis which I know to be HIV related esp in men my age with no history of it. I have had several negative hiv tests how many coincidences and pointers to HIV can there be? Can anyone suggest a doctor or lab that can test for genetic variants ? Also I'd appreciate hearing from anyone in a similar position ?
Avatar m tn Now, two years after my unprotected exposure I got psoriasis. Balanitis still here, swollen lymph nodes still here, seborrheic dermatitis which flared up a couple of months after exposure, all different kind of rashes, weakness in the whole body... Thinking about taking another test. I cannot believe this, I really got psoriasis. It should be a really big coincidence that those symptoms are not related with my exposure.
Avatar n tn Hi, Sunlight and water may make a difference in how psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis look and feel. The following natural treatments may also prove to be effective: aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, capsaicin, emu oil, evening primrose oil, oats, and tea tree oil. You can read more about this through this link: http://www.psoriasis.org/treatment/psoriasis/ Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn My son has psoriasis and his body is in bad shape. Every X months he gets medication and during that period his skin is in better shape but as soon as he must stop it, it gets worse. Isn't there any complementary help ? Or eventually homeopatic aid ? Thank you for your advice.
Avatar m tn I have psoriasis in between my thighs and have put cream on it and now what's left is just the discolored skin.. 900952 tn?1262692177 Hi, my husband has terrible Psoriasis on probably about 40% of his body, mostly on the bony areas that rub on clothing/hats etc. It runs in his family with his mother and all of his siblings experiencing periodic outbreaks of varying severity. He's tried a lot of steroid ointments and lotions that only work for a short time. He's tried non-soap body washes, shampoos and moisturisers.
