premarin

Avatar n tn I thought maybe the Premarin causing the T4 to be high was the reason they keep cutting the Synthroid back, hoping that my TSH will improve. I will ask for the free T4 and T3 test, as you mentioned if that's what I need. Thank you again.

Avatar f tn I realize this may sound strange but I was wondering if any of you have a "pill cutter" at home or do you just cut your pill in half with a knife? I am cutting down on the dose of my beta blocker per my Doctor and I was wondering if I have to purchase a pill cutter or can I just cut it with a knife or razor? I am a little anxious because you aren't supposed to "crush or chew" these pills and I'm afraid that if I cut it.......perhaps it will be crumbly.
Avatar f tn I've been having some vaginal irritation burning, itching, painful intercourse for many months now. I'm a 56 year old menopausal woman. I've been going to see my ob/gyn about this problem for years now. He tells me that the vaginal walls are thinning because of my age and the menopause, so he prescribed Premarin. I started using it then I stopped because it didn't seem to make a whole lot of difference at first.

907968 tn?1292622204 t know what the price differences are for smaller dose pills but assuming the worse that they are higher in price, and that the Dr wants me to take 1/2 the dose, would cutting the pills in half have the same effect as getting 20mg pills?
405614 tn?1329144114 Are the headaches the main reason that you are feeling icky? I haven't had a period in 15 years, however, I can tell you that migraine headaches are effected by fluctuations in hormones. I went to a neurologist that only specialized in headaches a few years ago, because I was having them almost daily. I cut the caffeine out of my diet and made a few other dietary changes, which really helped. Also, I was put on a higher dose of the beta blocker I was taking.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if I'm getting the right amound of thyroid meds, I'm on Armour and for the past 6 weeks or so I've been cutting my pills in half, taking half in the morning and half around 3 but sometimes I'm late taking them, will this mess with my levels? Also They just fall apart so I chew them, are they absorbing that way? and I'm just wondering when I get my labs done the 31 will I be lacking due to this method of taking my meds?
Avatar f tn I am in the same boat, turning 59 this January. My total hysterectomy was in the mid 1980s. I have cut down to four tablets about five years ago and for the past two years take three (M, W, F). Still unsure of way to go, but interested in knowing more.
778044 tn?1299542934 Has anyone used Premarin to help jump start their period? And if so, how long did it take? I am on it for 25 days (Premarin) and then starting the aygestin after the 16th day.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed for missed abortion last May 17,2008 (as seen in the Ultrasound, the baby has no heart beat) i was administered a premarin 0.62 mg every 6 hours, the doctor said to soften the cervix as well as cytotec 200 mg every 8 hours. I was wondering why i should be given premarin? I have read that premarin is mainly estrogen.. Do i need to continuously use this product? They are waiting for me to bleed for them to be able to perform the D&C. Please advise asap...
689267 tn?1235241749 are you talking about the 5 mg percocet...i used to break mine in half but i don t know about 4ths...i think it would be safe....
Avatar f tn An ultrasound revealed a growth on my thyroid, but the endocrinologist said it didn't have "the signs" of a cancerous growth, and it's small, so they're just keeping an eye on it. Meanwhile, he put me on 25mcg of levothyroxine, which made me crazy, so he allowed me to cut the pill in half. For 2-1/2 weeks, I've been taking half doses first thing in the morning and then waiting two hours to eat. I then take all my vitamins, including zinc and selenium and Acai.
Avatar m tn I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.
Avatar f tn I was weaned off of a much more potent beta blocker (Coreg) by cutting it in half, then again in half. I had no problem. I used a pill cutter which did a good job of splitting the drug, but the cuts weren't perfect. I think as long as you keep some of the drug in your system, you will be just fine.
Avatar f tn I suffer from Hashimotos autoimmune disease for many years and was diagnosed last year with Lupus after suffering many years with leukopenia which was caused by the Lupus or the Premarin. I took myself off of Premarin in July 2016 and I feel so much better. My hair is now growing back after losing about 3/4 of it during a Lupus flare-up that lasted over 7 months. My muscle aches are gone and my blood counts are now registering normal.
Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. It was then that they developed Prempro, which adds progestins to the mix, and supposedly reduces these risks.
Avatar n tn Can I use Premarin cream along with a yeast medication(Diflucan)? Does the moisture in the Premarin cream keep a yeast infection from healing?
691935 tn?1421027090 My doctor has instructed me to stop taking Premarin because of my age of 65 years due to cancer risks. I also learned that by turning 65 (in the U.S.) insurance will no longer cover. As with most women related issues, we don't count. I started Premarin after a total hysterectomy at age 35. Anyway, I'm experiencing heart palpitations, heat ache, body aches, night sweats, and loud ringing in the ears.
Avatar f tn Will premarin and hrt help with the anxiety that comes along with menopause? I cannot seem to get a straight answer from researching it on the net. I'm desperate for help.
Avatar n tn If the premarin cream causes a yeast infection should I stop useing it(the premarin cream) or keep useing it. I read somewhere that you should continue useing it to get rid of the yeast infection. I am a bit confused.

Avatar n tn I have been told it could be due to the anesthesia that I was given for several surgeries or the lack of Estrogen. Could I safely resume taking Premarin in the hopes that it would create some new hair growth? Thanks so much... This discussion is related to Premarin usage after clear cell ovarian cancer stage 1C and proper followup for the cancer..
Avatar f tn Did the blood test route, etc., took whopping doses of Viatmin D and got put on Premarin, the lowest dose. I did not do well on that. I became actually worse, emotionally and it didn't help the sweats, irritability or anything. My doctor told me to try Estroven, and it's better, but I still feel like crap. I don't sleep well at all, I am irritable and snappish and that is NOT my personality. A friend told me she was in a similar state and took bio-identicals.
Avatar f tn com/patient_services/bio_identical_hormone_therapy/ Also dairy can cause migraines and there is at least lactose and more than likely lactose monohydrate (think lactose on steroids) in your premarin.
Avatar n tn I really don't think cutting them in half is a good idea. I would assume as Carl said that they are extended release pills that protect you from the virus for 24 hours. Drink with something like a smoothie or something thick like drinkable yogurt is helpful. Call "Gilead" and ask. Its better to get the answer to that question directly from the maker. There is a phone number in the literature that came with the medication. If not... its easy to get online.
