Cpap or bipap supplies

Common Questions and Answers about Cpap or bipap supplies

cpap

Avatar m tn Pretty sure that I need BiPap instead of CPAP. The exhale pressure is too high on CPAP even with the EPR maxed at 3 and a setting of 7cm to 9cm. I've read that someone had anxiety on CPAP and switched to BiPap and it was fine. There are times when I feel so tired that I could faint. Has anyone had any similar crazy symptoms like this?
Avatar n tn I am also in the same boat as you two – I had a sleep study which revealed an AHI of 2 but 20 “spontaneous” arousals per hour. The sleep doctor said I do not have sleep apnea but mild upper airway resistance syndrome and that my test results were not abnormal enough to require treatment. However, I experienced all the symptoms of someone with UARS/sleep apnea at various stages in my life.
Avatar f tn I have a CPAP machine , but I can't use it the air rushes in so fast I choke, I just went for a BIPAP sleep study, it was awesome. I slept like a baby. the difference is the Bipap adjusts to your breathing and it didn't choke me. so now I'm waiting for the machine. the sleep apnea isn't too bad, but my narcolepsy is so difficult to manage. I haven't been outside after 6:00pm in about two years, my medication runs out around 4:00pm so I can't drive.
771990 tn?1341779376 Or perhaps you are coming down with a bit of a cold but are at the beginning phase of it. I found BiPap to be easier on me than CPap because of the two pressures, it made it easier to breathe out than to try and do that against the constant pressure of Cpap.
222135 tn?1236488221 Any one use a CPAP or BiPAP? Can you tell me how long it took you to get used to sleeping with it? Do you really feel better? Waiting to get mine and not too thrilled about it. I hated it when I had to do the titration stay for CPAP. Really did not like the way it felt. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn I am 64 with copd and sleep apnea also. I use a cpap at night with 2 liters oxygen. I use several inhalers. The cpap is designed to push the air in your lungs to keep you from dieing when you stop breathing in your sleep. It also makes your lungs stronger because it forces them to work on a deeper level. How long have you been using a cpap? Do you get along with it ok? I have had mine since November.
Avatar f tn How do I avoid swollen eyelids every morning after sleeping with CPAP? This discussion is related to Swollen eyes & CPAP.
1580703 tn?1651904887 my sleep apnea is getting worse, now I have headaches when I don't use bipap and my oxygen on the sleep study was 70%, it's hard to adjust to the bipap machine I really want to get tonsil surgery- did it help anyone here?
505751 tn?1225032462 As you know, I have Central Sleep Apnea, alone! (Not mixed with OSA)---It has been told to me several times that CPAP or BiPAP won't do a thing to help in my case... Like Quix said, it does nothing to help "initiate" the breath we have to take.....Sad, but true! However, because Satori has mixed apnea with OSA, the CPAP may help her with that aspect of the apnea....It's so complicated, huh? LOL Take care, All Tammy:) PS--Satori, I sent you a private message as well.....
Avatar m tn in some disorders like muscular dystrophies, BiPAP is advocated. Bilevel positive airway pressure, is similar to CPAP therapy. However with BiPAP therapy there are two different pressure settings for the patient. It can be described as pressure controlled ventilation in a system allowing unrestricted spontaneous breathing, as the pressures vary for inspiration and expiration. So, it could help improve your O2 sats.
Avatar n tn My son of age 46 was diagnosed with sleep apnea several years ago but could not get use to sleeping with the cpap and mask. Now he has a very bad heart condition due to all those years of sleep apnea. Lack of oxygen to the heart. It is very important that people take apnea serious.
Avatar n tn I USED A BIPAP MACHINE THAT WAS NOT SET AT THE PROPER LEVELS AND WREAKED HAVOC WITH MY HEALTH. I WAS ALSO DRY, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A WATER RESEVOIR. MY APNEA WAS BAD, OVER 60TIMES PER MINUTE AS I WAS TOLD. I WAS OBESE AND USED O2 WITH THE BIPAP AT NIGHT, AND DURING THE DAY. MY O2 LEVELS WERE TOO LOW WITHOUT IT. I HAD BARIATRIC SURGERY, WHICH OF COURSE HAD IT'S RISKS, MY LUNGS WERE NOT IN GOOD SHAPE. I HAVE LOST OVER 100 LBS AND NO LONGER NEED O2 OR BIPAP OR MEDS FOR COPD.
3227046 tn?1458313476 Dr says bipap use during sleep study is way to go after cpap was not. I couldn't fall asleep using cpap. Normally i fall asleep so fast i dont remember falling asleep. Twice while eating, with partially chewed food on my mouth ,many times in my driveway after a short drive, during movies always..it's unreal.i have no life and beginning heart failure. I'm changed to healthy eating, alkaline, leafy green, organic etc.does anyone think this bioap is going to really help me.
Avatar n tn no CPAP is great, I have BIPAP and I get headaches without it- you should really work hard and try to adjust to CPAP If you get oxygen that can help also I have asthma too but I would be much worse without cpap
Avatar m tn I have sleep Apena and its not as major as one might think. It can usually be controlled with a CPAP or BiPAP machine.
Avatar m tn coughing, sinus drainage), and you are using a CPAP/BiPAP machine then yes, it can be related if your not keeping your equipment clean. it can also cause headaches/migraines.
Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. I also have major sinus problems. I've tried the bipap and cpap machines with many different mask and can't find anything I can tolerate. The mask is one thing, but the air being forced causes my sinus problems to increase by stopping up my nose which makes me breathe through my mouth which as everyone knows won't work. Does anyone have issues close to what I have or any other suggestions.
Avatar m tn I imagine that the position of the tube in the mouth might need to have its position fixed by clamping it to the teeth (as with retainers) or possibly by holding it to the front of the mouth with a band that goes around the neck, but that wouldn't even be as bad as a CPAP mask, where one must also deal with the tube. My sleep apnea isn't too bad, it only manifests if I sleep on my back or sitting up. So I sleep on my side, but it would be nice to be able to sleep on my back.
702513 tn?1228512697 My husband was diagnosed with Central Sleep Apnea. He has been to 5 Repiratory Specialists, 7 neurologists, tried CPAP, now on BiPap. Long story short -- the Bi-Pap isn't working. He is falling asleep behind the wheel and at work, incoherent, etc. Oh...he is also an insomniac, has chronic migraines, chronic pain, and is on 10 medications. Needless to say, we have no life anymore.
Avatar m tn Treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea is by CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) where air under gentle pressure is passed into the airways keeping it patent. Central sleep apneas are caused due disorders or lesions in the brain. The peripheral system does not get the right impulses for respiration and hence the stoppage of respiration. As a result the person is aroused from sleep. Therapy is by treating the underlying cause and with SV BiPAP, as it is pressure support ventilation.
222135 tn?1236488221 I finally got my BiPAP on Tuesday - only took 6 weeks! The first night was torture, the second a little better. Last night, I FORCED myself to keep the darn thing on all night. Oh my, was I peppy today!!! Still spazzing like a wild woman, but spasms are easier to deal with when you're not sleep deprived. Even though they're ugly (great form of birth control, lol) and a pain you-know-where, they really work!
Avatar m tn I am 55, severe obs sleep apnea- non compliance CPAP, now growth hormones came at severe critical low level at stimulation tests// Insuline tolerance test and Glucagon stimulation test done on two different days. already taking Synthroid, for thyroid, belly weight. weakness, tired, confused, blurry, center head pain. sleep is not sound. cortisol is also not normal with glucagon stimulation test. IGF-1 is low. Can I be a candidate for growth hormone replacement therapy with immediate effect.
